Viola Evelyn Garvue
ALBANY - Viola Evelyn Garvue, 91, of Albany, former resident of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and West Palm Beach, Florida, passed away Saturday, December 28, 2002, at Palmyra Medical Centers where she had been hospitalized for a short time. She had been a resident of Palmyra Nursing Home for several months. The remains have been cremated and will be scattered at a later date in Minneapolis.
Mrs. Garvue was the daughter of the late Genevieve Mabel Pitsor and George Thornton, was born on October 23, 1911, in Timberlake, South Dakota. She was educated in the Mobridge, South Dakota, public schools.
After her marriage, she was employed by Honeywell Inc. in Minneapolis until her retirement in 1974 when she became a resident of West Palm Beach, FL. Mrs. Garvue was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Garvue; her parents; a sister, Genevieve Thornton Phoel; two brothers, Guy L. Thornton and Freemont P. Thornton.
Survivors include three nieces, Mary Suby of Palm Harbor, FL, Bobbie Hawkins Lyons of Troy, AL, and Patsy Hawkins Minton of Charlotte, North Carolina; three nephews, Leroy Thornton of Archer, Iowa, George Thornton of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and Richard L. Hawkins of Albany, GA.

ALBANY - Thomas (Tommy) H. Gurr, 92, of 1305 5th Ave., died suddenly Monday morning, December 30, 2002, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital Emergency Room.
The funeral service will be Thursday, 11 AM at Kimbrell-Stern with interment in Crown Hill Cemetery. Faron Hammer, Minister, Forest Chapman, Minister and Jere Via, Minister will officiate.
A native of Byromville, Mr. Gurr had lived in Albany since 1930 and was retired Produce Manager from Colonial Stores where he had worked for 37 years. He was an active member of Dawson Road Church of Christ since 1942 and through the years he taught Bible Class, served as Church Treasurer, Church Deacon and Church Elder.
Survivors include his wife, Florence Young Gurr of Albany; son, Frank Gurr and his wife, Brenda of Warner Robins; daughter, Pat Sizemore of Albany; four grandchildren, Traci Jolley of Warner Robins, Laura Frey of Moreland, GA, Michael Poole and Joey Sizemore, both of Albany; three great-grandchildren.

ALBANY - Eldridge Shelton (Red) Sullivan, 72, of Hazlewood, MO, died of complications from lung cancer, Saturday, December 21, 2002. Devoted husband of Anna Lee for 52 years; loving father of three children, Lynn (Debbie), Gilbert (Barbara), and Kenny (Deanna); loving grandfather of nine grandchildren, Angie (Scott) Butcher, Amy (Sam) Gerbich, Heather, Jessica, Andrew, Kristin, Rachael, Michael, and Kayla; dear brother of Ozier (Rosalee) Sullivan, Chester Sullivan, Lila (Tom) Fletcher, Jack (Bannetta) Sullivan, the late Coleman Sullivan and the late Iona Ballard (Hubert).
Red was a very faithful and proud member of the Victory Baptist Church in Ferguson, MO, serving as church deacon and class leader for over 35 years. Red was very active in the community after returning from his duty in the Army in 1952. Operating several full-service gas stations in the North County area for over 50 years, Red set the standard for full-service. Red served as President for the Service Station Dealers Association for MO, and KS, for several years.
Red will be missed by many customers, business acquaintances, friends, and most of all close family members.
Visitation was held 4 p.m.- 8 p.m. Monday, December 23, 2002, at Archway Memorial Chapel, 111 Taylor Rd., Hazlewood, MO. A memorial service was held at Victory Baptist Church, 1442 Hudson Rd., Ferguson, MO, at 10 a.m., Tuesday, December 24, 2002.

ALBANY - Connie L. Tompkins, 75, of Oakfield, GA, died Monday, December 30, 2002, at her home following an illness. Her funeral service will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Teresa's Catholic Church. The Rev. Finbarr Stanton will officiate. Interment service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Lakewood Memorial Gardens in Rossville, GA.
A native of the Philippines, Mrs. Tompkins had live in Oakfield 11 years. She was a member of St. Teresa's Catholic Church and had been a member of the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by two sons, Santiago Gamon and Agustin Gamon.
Survivors include her husband, James O. Tompkins of Oakfield, four daughters, Lou Stueck and her husband Greg of Oakfield, Elizabeth Macandog and her husband Jhun of Chicago, IL, Josephine Oneill and her husband Joseph of Virginia, Maricor Saliba and her husband Mick of Maryland; a son, Robert Gamon and his wife Violet of Chicago, IL; 30 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; 4 sisters, Esther, Cynthia, Nena and Nitang.
A prayer service will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. with visitation to follow until 8:30 p.m.

SYLVESTER - John A. Tribulak, 88, of Shingler died Sunday, December 29, 2002, at his residence.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Banks Funeral Chapel with interment in Harmony Cemetery in Turner County. John Stewart will officiate.
A native of Elkins, West Virginia, he grew up in Clinton, Indiana. Mr. Tribulak had lived in Worth County since 1974. He was a truck driver and avid outdoorsman who loved fishing. He was of the Church of Christ Faith.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Lavender Tribulak of Shingler; son, Joe and wife, Sue Tribulak of Shingler; two daughters, Cheryl and husband, John Bass of Ashburn and Kathy and husband, Robert Bunch of Lee County; two sisters, Helen Pitrowski of Glendale Heights, Illinois, and Rosemary Freeze of Terre Haute, Indiana; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rose and Andrew Tribulak.

THOMASVILLE - Services for Herbert D. Hinson of Pelham will be at 4 p.m. today at Hand Memorial United Methodist Church in Pelham where he was a member. The Rev. Keith Goodlett will officiate.
Mr. Hinson died Sunday, December 29, 2002, at his residence. Born January 18, 1914, in Morgan County, Ohio, he was the son of the late Harry and Blanche Conn Hinson. He was married to the late Ruth F. Abercrombie Hinson. Mr. Hinson was a chemical engineer at Ashley F. Ward Manufacturing in Cincinnati. Ohio, a member of Civitan Club in Pelham, Hospice volunteer, and 4-H leader.
Survivors include a son, David Hinson of Lawrenceville, GA; daughter, Marsha Walton of Pelham; sister, Ruth H. Davis of West Union, Ohio; grandchildren, Bart and Donna Hinson, Julie and George Boyd Jr., Stephen and Laurie Walton, Joanne and Brian Allensworth and Katie Walton and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Herbert Stephen Hinson.
