Amanda Haswell Crowdis
BLAKELY - Amanda Haswell Crowdis, 87, of 21723 Lucille Rd., Blakely, died Thursday, March 13, 2003, at Early Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at Blakely First United Methodist Church with interment in Blakely Cemetery. The Rev. David Crowdis will officiate.
Active pallbearers will be Charles Crowdis, Hud Crowdis, Levi Crowdis, Jonathan Crowdis, Ben Crowdis, Neil Peters, Hugh Crowdis and Doug Crowdis.
A native of Cambridge, NY, Mrs. Crowdis was born March 2, 1916. She was a registered nurse and had worked as a public health nurse. She had lived in Early County since 1949. Mrs. Crowdis was the widow of Dr. James Hudson Crowdis Jr. Her parents were the late Robert Ashton Haswell and Ethel Ellen Moseley Miller.
Survivors include a daughter, Diane Peters of Duluth; five sons, Jimmy Crowdis and wife Eleanor of Dublin, Robert Crowdis and wife Judy of Macon, Richard Crowdis and wife Kathy of Albany, the Rev. David Crowdis and wife Gay of Cuthbert, and Johnny Crowdis and wife Rhonda of Blakely; two brothers, Dr. Forrest Haswell and Dr. Howard Haswell, both of Spruce Pine, NJ; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 p.m.- 8 p.m. today.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church of your choice.

Robert Samuel Weir
DONALSONVILLE - We regret to announce the passing of Robert Samuel Weir, age 58, of Donalsonville, GA, who passed away Friday, March 14, 2003, at the Donalsonville Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 16, 2003, at Jakin Baptist Church in Jakin, GA, with Dr. Calvin Arnold officiating. Interment will follow at the Jakin Cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday, March 15, 2003, at Evans-Skipper Funeral Home from 7 p.m.- 9 p.m.
Mr. Weir was born March 24, 1944, in Rochester, NY, to the late Daniel D. and Lillian Bryant Weir. He met and married Mary Elizabeth Futch on December 19, 1964. He had been a self-employed dairy farmer for the past 35 years. He attended Jakin Baptist Church.
He leaves to cherish his memory, a loving wife Mary, two sons, Frank Weir, Sam Weir and his wife Celi all of Donalsonville, GA; two brothers, Richard Weir of Elko, GA, William Weir of Hephzibah, GA, brother-in-law, Roy Futch of Leesburg, GA, and John Ed Futch of Thomasville, GA, one sister, Marian Golisano of Manteca, Cal., sister-in-laws, Dolly Shaw of Albany, GA, and Frances Person of Slidell, LA.
He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Bill Futch.
Nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Wynelle L. Whelchel
CORDELE - Wynelle L. Whelchel, 84, of Americus, formerly of Cordele, died Wednesday, March 12, 2003, at Magnolia Manor in Americus.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today in the chapel of Hughes & Wright Funeral Home with interment in Sunnyside Cemetery. The Rev. James Davis will officiate.
A native of Montgomery County, AL, Mrs. Whelchel was a homemaker and a member of Hatley United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Hatley Homemakers Club.
Survivors include her husband, Carl D. Whelchel of Americus; two sons, Homer Whelchel of Nashville, GA, and Davis Whelchel III of Jacksonville, FL; two daughters, Patricia Bolin of Brentwood, TN, and Glenda Darley of Rome; two sisters, Belle Shell of Morrow and Thalia Litsey of Richmond, VA; eight grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
The family will be at the home of Beverly Whelchel, 901 Azalea, Cordele.
Memorials may be made to Hatley United Methodist Church, c/o Sara Christmas, 1390 Hatley Rd., Cordele, or League of Good Samaritan, Magnolia Manor, Americus, GA 31709.

Mary Catherine Yoder
CAMILLA - Mary Catherine Yoder, daughter of the late Levi and Alma Miller, was born August 30, 1938, near Hartville, OH. She was married to Clifford Yoder on June 15, 1963, and departed this life on Thursday, March 13, 2003, at her residence in Meigs, GA. Her age was 64 years, 6 month, and 14 days.
Mary graduated as valedictorian in 1957, from Lake High School in Hartville, Ohio.
She took a cadet course in elementary education from Kent State University, after which she volunteered two years of service in Red Lake, ON, Canada with Northern Light Gospel Missions.
Mary was diagnosed with cancer in December, 1997, and following surgery, she was recuperated, and the family was blessed with an additional five wonderful years. More recently, she was hospitalized in the last two weeks with cancer related illnesses.
At the time of her death, she was a faithful member of the Faith Mennonite Church of Shellman, GA, and was employed as a cook at The Lighthouse Children's Home of Tallahassee, FL. Mary accepted Christ in her youth, and followed Him faithfully throughout her life. Her testimony was that she loved the Lord and longed to meet her Savior.
Mrs. Yoder is survived by her husband of 39 years, Clifford Yoder of Meigs, GA; one son and three daughters, Darryl and wife Karen Yoder of Thomasville, GA; Marlene, Mrs. Mark Peachey; Melisa, Mrs. Vernon Hilty, both of Shellman, GA; Michelle, Mrs. Tim Weaver of Washington, IN, and nine grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters and one brother: Martha, Mrs. Dale Yoder; Sara Mae, Mrs. Rudy Troyer; Ruby, Mrs. Leroy Schrock, all of Sarasota, FL; and Rueben and wife Marilyn Miller of Hartville, OH. One sister preceded her in death: Ruth, Mrs. Joe Hostetler.
Visitation will be at the Meigs Mennonite Church on Sunday, March 16, from 5 p.m.- 8 p.m. The funeral service will also be at the Meigs Mennonite Church on Monday, March 17, at 10 a.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to The Lighthouse Children's Home, 7771 Mahan Drive, Tallahassee, FL 32315.

ALBANY - Marion Humphrey-Meriweather, 74, of 1505 Cordell Ave., Albany, died Friday, March 14, 2003, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be at noon Saturday at Greater Second Mount Olive Baptist Church in Albany with interment in Rosenvick Cemetery in Blakely. The Rev. Lorenzo Heard will officiate.
A native of Early County, Mrs. Meriweather was born September 6, 1928. She was a nurses' assistant at Palmyra Medical Centers. She attended Early County public schools and was a member of Greater Second Mt. Olive Baptist Church and served as a choir member.
Survivors include a daughter, Debra Meriweather-Gouthro of Freeport, Bahamas; son, Johnny Meriweather Jr. of Albany; three sisters, Annie Ruth Adams of Albany, Joyce Ann Boyd of Queens, NY, and Objean Mitchell of Fayetteville, NC; two brothers, Willie Albert Humphrey of Hollywood, FL, and James Marcel Humphrey of Dania, FL; and nine grandchildren.
The remains of Mrs. Meriweather will lie-in-state at the church Saturday morning from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour.

Johnny Jackson
ALBANY - Johnny Jackson, 69, of 2121 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Albany, died Monday, March 17, 2003, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
The graveside funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Roselawn Garden of Memory Cemetery in Albany. The Rev. Calvin Rollins will officiate.
Born August 13, 1933, in Albany, Mr. Jackson was a retired sanitation engineer. He attended Dougherty County public schools and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include one brother, Jessie Jackson of Austin, Texas; a very devoted nephew, Calvin L. Jackson of Albany; one son and one daughter; one sister, Hattie Mae Highsmith of East Orange, N.J.
The family of Mr. Jackson will receive friends and relatives at the residence of his nephew, Calvin L. Jackson of 1401 East Waddell Avenue here in Albany.

Georjia Lee Jackson Jenkins
ALBANY - Georjia Lee Jackson Jenkins, 72, of 1014-B South Harding Street died Sunday, March 16, 2003, at Palmyra Medical Centers.

Born August 16, 1930, in Calhoun County, Ms. Jenkins was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Brenda (Billy) Williams, Shirley (Curtis) Mitchell and Beverly (Phillip) Solomon, all of Albany; three sons, Jackie Jackson of Newark, N.J., Willie (Ellen) Jenkins and Andrew Jackson, both of Albany.
Visitation will be 9 a.m.-9 p.m. today at Austin & Taylor Mortuary.
