BLAKELY - Sarah Cornelia King Stanley, 75, of 300 Bay St., Blakely, died Wednesday, August 27, 2003, at Crowne Health Care in Eufaula, AL.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home with interment in Blakely Cemetery. The Rev. Ralph Estes and the Rev. Joey Hudspeth will officiate.
Born December 23, 1927, in Early County, Ms. Stanley was an Albany Herald carrier for 28 years. She was a member of Mt. Ararat Baptist Church in Blakely.
Survivors include two sons, Guy Stanley Jr. of N. Augusta, SC, and Michael Larry (Mike) Stanley of Blakely; three daughters, Patricia Warren of Eufaula, AL, Sandra Copeland of Jacksonville, FL, and Jeanie Hiers of New Brockton, AL; three sisters, Barbara Clark of Lilburn, Alice Long of Decatur and Lora Dowdney of Moody, AL; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Cornelia Hayes King and one sister, Tommie Hollis.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

AMERICUS - Margaret Underwood, 66, of Americus died Wednesday night, August 27, 2003, at Sumter Regional Hospital.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Cheek Memorial Baptist Church with Steve Hankla, Fred Usry Sr. and John Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Serving as pallbearers will be Bill Bell, Charlie Marchant, Eddie Howard, Max DeVane, Herschel Morris and Ricky Freeman. Asked to serve as honorary pallbearers are members of the Americus Civitan Club and members of the Sumter County Fair Association.
A native of Spalding County, Mrs. Underwood was born April 14, 1937, a daughter of the late Luvin Guy Freeman and Ruby Mae Wooten Freeman. She was a member of Cheek Memorial Baptist Church.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. today at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel and at other times at the family residence, 218 Maple Street.
Survivors include her husband, Henry Underwood of Americus; two daughters and sons-in-law, Vickie and Steve Hankla, Tanya and John Davis, all of Valdosta; two sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Lisa Underwood and Kevin and Teri Underwood, all of Leesburg; four sisters, Dorothy Jones of Griffin, Geraldine Johnson of Gulf Port, Miss., Frances Jones of Orchard Hill and Deborah Glover of Jonesboro; three brothers, Benny Freeman of Griffin, Lester Freeman of Jackson and Melvin Freeman of Morrow; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A great-grandson, Connor Bacon preceded her in death.

DAWSON - James Lamar "Bubber" Webb Jr. of Bronwood died on Wednesday, August 27, 2003 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Harvey Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Tommy McDonald and the Rev. Beauford Taylor officiating. Interment will be in the Bronwood Cemetery.
Mr. Webb was born in Americus on May 25, 1945 the son of the late James Lamar Webb Sr. and Lillian Nation Webb. He graduated from Terrell High School in 1963 and attended Troy State University on a football scholarship from 1963 to 1965. He acquired his commercial/multi-engine pilot rating in 1967 from Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa, OK.
He was a corporate pilot for the area and regional corporations; he was half-owner of Webb Brothers Farms, Inc., Terrell Co. Grain Elevators, Tri-State Irrigation, and South Georgia Diesel Truck Stop. He had worked in the insurance and securities industry and also was a Senior Technology Consultant with Hand Technologies. He was a member of Bronwood Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy Hardwick Webb of Bronwood; three sons, Mr. and Mrs. James Lamar Webb III of Mooresville, NC, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Wingate Webb of Leesburg and Thomas Tyler Webb of Ft. Worth, TX; a sister, Luellen W. Pace of Lake Blackshear formerly of Albany; a brother, Clifford "Cris" Webb II of Bronwood and three grandchildren.

ALBANY - Travis L. McCraney, 82, of 1601 11th Ave., died Friday, August 29, 2003 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday, 11 a.m. at Kimbrell-Stern Chapel with interment to follow at Crown Hill Cemetery. The Revs. Ray Bowman and John Tarrer will officiate.
A native of Dothan, AL, Mr. McCraney had lived in Albany for more than 40 years. He was a member of Byne Memorial Baptist Church for over 40 years and was a Sunday School Teacher for 13 years. He was a previous owner of Mac Motor Shop in Dothan, AL, and was owner/operator of Sowega Electric Motors in Albany since 1953. He was a Past Master for Albany Lodge No. 24 F&AM and also served as chaplain of Roamin Winnies for more than 25 years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Carolyn Ennis McCraney of Albany; two daughters, Bobbie McCraney Cox and husband, Ron and June McCraney Pelham, all of Albany; four grandchildren, Denise L. Miller and husband, Matt, Daniel Thomas Pelham III, Travis L. Pelham, all of Albany, and Gina Pelham Evenhuis and husband, Eric of Ogden, UT; two great-grandchildren, Savannah Rose Evenhuis and Mason Alexander Evenhuis; a sister, Viola Shelly and husband, Jeffrey of Dothan, AL. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Remus McCraney and LaHoma McCraney.

ALBANY - Judson D. Taylor, 95, of Camilla, formerly of Albany, died Saturday evening, August 30, 2003 in Camilla.
The funeral service will be Wednesday, 10 a.m., at Floral Memory Gardens. The Rev. Glenn Thomas will officiate.
A native of Mitchell County, Mr. Taylor retired at Turner Field after 25 years of service. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Albany and was preceded in death by his wife, Luzine Bolton Taylor. Mr. Taylor was a good father-husband and a good provider for his family. He also loved to fish.
Survivors include two daughters, Sue Croy of Albany and Dorothy Frey and her husband, Mack of Orange Beach, AL; two sons, Jerome Taylor and his wife, Betty and Larry Taylor and his wife, Sandra, all of Albany; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

FITZGERALD - Edna Gibbs Davis, 95, of Fitzgerald, died Sunday morning, August 31, 2003 at Dorminy Medical Center.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Gibbs Cemetery at Abba with the Rev. Steve Waldorf officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 p.m.-9 p.m. today.
Mrs. Davis was born January 1, 1908, in Irwin County, GA, to the late Young Samuel Gibbs and Pollie Bussell Gibbs. She was a homemaker. During World War II, Mrs. Davis worked at the Post Office in Washington, D.C. and a former sales lady at Julius Garfinkle and Company Department Store in Washington. After returning home to the Abba Community 55 years ago, she was a member of the Abba Baptist Church and New Prospect Baptist Church. Over the years, she served as church organist, Sunday School teacher, WMU member and arranged flowers for church services. She was a member and Past Worthy Matron of the Adah Chapter No. 15 of the Order of Eastern Star.
Mrs. Davis is survived by two daughters, Ann Geiger of Tucson, AZ, and Linda Hall of Fitzgerald; and five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie Davis, two brothers and a sister.

DONALSONVILLE - We regret to announce the passing of Lura Spooner Roberts White, 86, of Donalsonville, who passed away Saturday afternoon, August 30, 2003, at Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan, AL.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held today at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Donalsonville, with the Rev. Tommy Dobbins and Dr. Ron McCaskill officiating. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall immediately following the service.
Mrs. White was born in Seminole County on October 29, 1916, to the late Lewis E. and Delia Jernigan Spooner. She married Reuben S. Roberts Sr., "Booge" in 1939.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Donalsonville, where she was active in the Ruth Sunday School Class, and a member of the Mature Adults. She was a member of the Bainbridge Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Pineview Community Club. Mrs. Lura enjoyed being a part of the Meals of Wheels program here. She greatly enjoyed her activities with the Jubilees and the Hand and Foot Club. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her friendship was cherished by many in this community.
Mrs. Lura leaves to cherish her memory, one son, Dr. Reuben S. Roberts Jr. and his wife, Deborah of Hawkinsville; two daughters, Sheila R. Cagle and her husband, Melvin of Bainbridge and Louisa McNease of Santa Rosa Beach, FL; five brothers, Joe Spooner, Luther Spooner, and Billy Spooner, all of Donalsonville, Roger Spooner of Iron City, Cecil Spooner of Stone Mountain; 12 grandchildren, Sherri Newberry, Terri Stefanou, Shannon Crosby, Leigh Ann Borg, Kelly Roberts, Sarah Beth Dunaway, Jenny Roberts, Reuben S. Roberts III (Trey), Vic McNease, Jill M. Addison, Beth McNease and Jim McNease; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Reuben Spengler Roberts Sr. in 1994 and her second husband, Herman Darby White in 1996. Also by one brother, Denver Spooner and one sister, Eron Ward George.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie McNease, John Mosely, Wade Spooner, Mark Hanna, Luke Spooner, Randy Spooner, Tommy Spooner, and Walter Spooner.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Ruth Sunday School Class and the Jubilees.
