ALBANY - The funeral service of Elise B. Connell, 69, of 32 Dobbs Drive, Albany, who died Sunday, September 14, 2003, will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Mathews Funeral Home, the Rev. Chuck Smith will officiate. Interment will follow at Floral Memory Gardens Cemetery.
A lifelong resident of Lee County and Albany, Mrs. Connell was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Pate A. Connell and a son, Eddie Lamar Garbright.
Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Dodie and Al Cortez of Albany; three sons, Richard Thomas Connell and his wife, Kim of Mitchell County, Johnny Pate Connell of Albany and David Roy Connell of Albany; brother, Elton Barfield and his wife, Shirley of Mitchell County; two sisters, Lois Witczak and her husband, Al of Lee County and Billie Jean Knight and her husband, June of Mitchell County; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held Monday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home.

Kay Engram Lay Henningfeld
ALBANY - Kay Engram Lay Henningfeld, age 66, of Albany, GA, passed away Sunday, September 14, 2003, following an extended illness.
A memorial service will be held at 10 AM Wednesday, September 17, 2003, at Gillionville Baptist Church in Albany.
Mrs. Henningfeld was a native of Dawson, GA, and the daughter of Paul S. Engram and Hilda Ragan Engram. Mrs. Henningfeld lived in Dothan, AL, for 25 years where she was very active in the community. She served as a director of the Doug Tew Baseball Park, was a member, and former President of, The Bud and Bloom Garden Club, a member of the Dothan Service League, and The First Baptist Church.
For the past 18 years she had lived in Albany, GA. Mrs. Henningfeld was a volunteer at the Palmyra Medical Centers, and an active member of the Gillionville Baptist Church. Mrs. Henningfeld was an avid Alabama Football and Atlanta Braves baseball fan.
She is survived by her loving husband, Dan Henningfeld; her devoted sons, Terry W. Lay of Demopolis, AL, and Walter Anthony Lay of Montgomery, AL; her mother, Hilda Ragan Engram of Dawson, GA; her sister, Charlene Engram Berger of Seattle, WA; her great aunt, Inez Ragan Hardage of Dawson, GA; and her grandchildren, Gabrielle Ragan Lay, Jackson Lee Lay and Dawson Wayne Lay, all of Demopolis, AL; her nephew, Jerry Paul Engram of Prattville, AL; and her niece, Dee Jeffcoat Bridges of Laguna Niguel, CA.
Her father, Paul S. Engram and her brother, Gordon Paul Engram preceded Mrs. Henningfeld in death.
The family will receive friends and relatives in Dawson, at the home of Mrs. Engram, today, 4 PM to 5 PM and again in Albany, at Mr. and Mrs. Henningfield's home from 7 PM to 8 PM.

ALBANY - John Bradfield Nash Jr., age 57, of Baconton, GA, passed away Saturday, September 13, 2003.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 AM Wednesday at Hall & Hall Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Chris Turner and Bro. Lavon Ackley officiating. Interment will follow in Andersonville National Cemetery.
Mr. Nash was a Vietnam Veteran having served in the U.S. Army and was the owner-operator of Automatic Heating & Cooling Company in Baconton.
Preceded in death by his parents: John Bradfield Nash Sr. and Mildred Stephens Wallace and by a sister: Brenda Nash.
He is survived by his wife: Darlene Willoughby Nash of Baconton; son: John Bradfield Nash III of Baconton; daughters: Johnnie Darlene Woodcock and Kristy Gayle Gray, both of Jacksonville, Fla.; brother: Nicky Ray Wallace of Lakeland, Fla.; sisters: Linda Wilson of Denver, Colo., Shirley Langlois of New Hampshire and Nancy Nash of New Hampshire; and three grandchildren.

BLAKELY - Collie Ronald Bush, 46, of 1596 Sandy Bottom Road, Blakely, died Saturday, September 13, 2003.
The funeral was held at 10 a.m. Monday in the chapel of Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home with interment in Bush Cemetery. The Rev. Sandy Monroe officiated.
Active pallbearers were Art Powell Jr., Brad Hornsby, Steve Moore, Wayne White, Randy White, Billy Davis and Jack Bynum.
Born November 2, 1956, in Seminole County, Mr. Bush had lived in Early County most of his life. He was employed with S.E. Boll Weevil Eradication Foundation. He was also a member of Cuba Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Sue Bates Bush of Blakely; one daughter and her husband, Misty and Aaron Warfield of Blakely; one granddaughter, Hailey Warfield of Blakely; father, Collie Clarence Bush.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Louise Womble Bush.

CUTHBERT - John Robert Lancaster, 84, of Munfordville, KY, former resident of Cuthbert died Saturday, September 12, 2003, at the Caverna Memorial Hospital in Horse Cave, KY.
Graveside services will be Wednesday from 4 p.m. from the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Dawson, with the Rev. Tom McClendon officiating.
Mr. Lancaster was born in October 23, 1918, in Dawson, GA, the son of Charlie and Jassie Adwell Lancaster. He later moved to Kentucky living in the Cave City area, where he started his working career as a a bank teller for the Peoples Bank in Cave City, KY. He later worked as a motel clerk where he working for several motel chains, from Kentucky to middle and south Florida, which included the Windsor Hotel in Americus and the Bluff City Inn in Eufaula, AL. He later worked as a security officer for Parker Security in Americus . Mr. Lancaster was a member of First Baptist Church in Cuthbert, where he was a Mason and a Shriner.
Survivors include two sisters, Joy L. Gwinn of Louisville, KY, and Mildred L. Edmonds of Munfordville, KY, as a well as several nieces and a nephew.

DAWSON - Vera Beryl Nemec of Dawson died Monday, September 15, 2003, at Palmyra Medical Centers in Albany.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Harvey Funeral Chapel with the Rev. James Emery and the Rev. James Sapp officiating. Interment will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Beaufort National Cemetery in Beaufort, SC.
Mrs. Nemec was a native of Des Moines, Iowa, and grew up in Dubuque. She was born January 2, 1912, daughter of the late Fredrick William Trader and Sadie Helen Davey Trader. She was a graduate of the University of Iowa and a member of Phi Beta Kapp. She was a teacher, homemaker and widow of Lt. Col. Godfrey B. Nemec, U.S. Army, Ret. She was a member of Dawson United Methodist Church; past president of Dawson United Methodist Women; a member of Epworth Sunday School Class and Jennie Rauch Circle; member and past Georgia State president of P.E.O. Sisterhood and a member of Chapter A.H. P.E.O. Sisterhood of Albany; past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star and a member of the Dawson Garden Club.
Survivors include a daughter, Beverly N. Peeler and husband, Hiram of Dawson; two granddaughters, Lynn Pollock of Jesup, Beth Rogers and husband, David of Dawson; grandson, David Peeler and wife, Kathy of Dawson; five great-grandchildren, Colt and Jake Pollock, Christopher and Olivia Rogers, and Ansley Peeler.

ASHBURN - Funeral services for James W. Reynolds M.D., 76, of 457 Goss Dr., Ashburn will be held Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. at the Ashburn First United Methodist Church. Dr. Jim passed away Sunday evening at his home after an extended illness. Private interment will be held in Rose Hill Cemetery in Ashburn.
Dr. Jim was the son of the late William Alva and Virginia Moody Reynolds. A native of Green County, Georgia he was a member of the Ashburn First United Methodist Church. A 1952 graduate of Emory University Medical School, he has resided in Turner County since 1956 and was a retired Family Medical Practitioner and owner of Ashburn Doctors Clinic and has served in the U.S. Army. Dr. Jim was a loving husband and father to his family. Dr. Jim was a beloved doctor and friend to citizens of Turner County and surrounding counties. He was former Medical Director for the Turner County Emergency Services, Ashburn Health Care and had served as Medical Examiner for the past 40 years for the Turner Co. Coroner's Office. In 1980 he was awarded Turner County Citizen of The Year by Turner County Chamber of Commerce.
The family invites all employees and former employees of the Phoebe Family Medical Center, Turner County Hospital, Ashburn Doctors Clinic and Turner Co. EMS to sit with the family during the services at the Church.
Survivors include his wife, Beth King Reynolds, Ashburn, Ga.; sons, Brent Reynolds and Kyle Reynolds both of Atlanta, Ga., Keith Reynolds of Sycamore, Ga., Craig Reynolds of Albany, Ga., Jimmy Reynolds of Valdosta, Ga.; daughters, Brenda Reynolds of Atlanta, Ga., Suzanne Brown and Tammie Zorn both of Ashburn, Ga.; a sister Mary Reynolds Calloway, Union Point, Ga. and 7 grandchildren.
