Jessie Monteen Laye Webb
DAWSON - Jessie Monteen Laye Webb of Bronwood, formerly of Parrott, died Sunday, September 14, 2003, in Leesburg. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Harvey Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Julian Asbell officiating. Interment will follow in the Parrott Cemetery.
Mrs. Webb was born November 14, 1914, in Terrell County, daughter of the late James Calhoun Laye and Daisy Culpepper Laye. She was retired Post Master of the Parrott Post Office, and a member of Ebenezer Primitive Baptist Church of Preston. She was the widow of Charles "Pat" Webb. She lived in Parrott most of her life except for a short time in Columbus, GA, and Akron, OH, the home of Mr. Webb. She had been a resident of Seymour's Southern Comforts in Bronwood for the last three years.
She was preceded in death by a son, Jim Sanders and a daughter, Barbara Roberts.
Survivors include three grandchildren, Sharon Stocking and husband, Stephen of Leesburg, Amy Magee of Albany and Jason Ridley of Phenix City, AL; a brother, James Calvin Laye of Parrott and a sister, Dean Rabon of Manchester; seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be at Harvey Funeral Home today from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

EUFAULA, Ala. - Arnold H. Williams, 92, of Georgetown, GA, died Sunday, September 14, 2003, at his residence.
A memorial service was held at 4 p.m. EST Monday at his residence. The Rev. Richard Blevins and the Rev. Jeff Hines will officiate.
Born July 11, 1911, in Bridgeboro, his earlier years were spent in Moultrie, GA, and Ocala, FL, and High Springs, FL, where he worked with Georgia-Florida Peanut and Seed Co. and retired as a manager for Van H. Priest Co. in High Springs. Upon retirement, he relocated to Georgetown, GA, in 1981. Mr. Williams was a an active member and an ordained Deacon at First Baptist Church of High Springs, where he also served as Sunday School secretary and treasurer. Presently, he was a member of Georgetown Baptist Church. He was also active in the Lion's Club and Rotary Club for a number of years.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Jewell Logue Williams of Georgetown; one son, Robert E. (Mary) Williams of Georgetown; one grandson, Robert A. (Lisa) Williams of Georgetown; one granddaughter, Eleanor W. (Stephen) Cunningham of Greensboro, AL; two great-granddaughters, Vivian Kathleen and Isabelle Lenore Cunningham of Greensboro, AL; one nephew, William Arnold Williams of Chapel Hill; one aunt, Martha Flowers Carithers of Moultrie.

TIFTON - Jim L. Wilson, 61, of Brownsville, TX, formerly of Tifton, GA, died Sunday, September 14, 2003, in Brownsville.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors with interment in Oakridge Cemetery. Elder Lee Chambers and the Rev. Eddie Allen will officiate.
Born April 16, 1942, in Tifton, Mr. Wilson had lived in Brownsville for three years, formerly of Tifton. He was an attorney and a graduate of Tifton High School; magna cum laude graduate of Valdosta State College and a graduate of Cumberland Law School in Birmingham, AL, with a Juris Doctorate before passing the Georgia Bar. He had practiced law in Tifton for 15 years.
Survivors include his wife, Patty Gardiner Wilson of Brownsville; daughter, Kimberly Wilson Baker and husband, David of Alabaster, AL; mother, Mildred McGill Wilson of Tifton; brother, W. David Wilson and wife, Norma A. Wilson of Albany; granddaughter, Kasey Baker of Alabaster.
He was preceded in death by his father, W.D. "Dick" Wilson.

WARNER ROBINS -Wayne Thomas Ball passed away Monday, September 22, 2003, at the Medical Center of Central Georgia.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. today in the Chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with interment following in Parkway Memorial Gardens. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation.
Mr. Ball was born in Albany, GA, and had been a resident of Warner Robins since 1985. He was an electrician with Georgia Power and a member of Second Baptist Church. He had coached and umpired for various little league teams in Warner Robins. Additionally, he loved music and the Georgia Bulldogs. His father, Dallas J. Ball, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Teresa K. Ball; mother, Marjorie V. Ball of Jefferson, GA; son, Blane Mathews (Rachael) of Warner Robins; daughter, Jessica Mathews of Macon; sisters, Sibyl Reynolds of Gainesville, GA; Pam Smith of Jasper, GA; and grandchildren, Preston Mathews and Kimberly Mathews.

A native of Worth Co., GA, Mrs. Boynton had lived in Albany most of her life where she was a charter member of Sherwood Baptist Church and the Vota Vita Sunday School Class. Mrs. Boynton was a member and past Worthy Matron of the Crape Myrtle Chapter #163 OES, she was also a member of the Pierre Robert Chapter of the United Daughters of Confederacy, Daughters of American Colonies, and a member of the Thronateeska Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Survivors include her daughter, Elaine B. David and her husband, Henry of Campbellsville, KY; four grandchildren, Susan David of Albany, GA, Nancy David of Boone, NC, Becky D. McCorvey of Campbellsville, KY, and Greg David of Albany, GA; two great-grandchildren, Lainey and Parker McCorvey, both of Campbellsville, KY; one sister, Martha McNichol of Fairhope, AL.

ALBANY - Lucilla Cook Cannon, 92, of 466 Lovers Lane Road, Leesburg, died Tuesday, September 23, 2003, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
The funeral service will be held Friday, 11 AM at Leesburg United Methodist Church, with interment to follow at Leesburg City Cemetery. The Rev. Ashley Randall and the Rev. Russ Elkins will officiate.
A native of Hart County, GA, Mrs. Cannon had lived in Leesburg since 1918. She was a member of Leesburg United Methodist Church for more than 80 years; was a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class and was a member of the Bessie Green Circle. She was wise beyond her years, always dependable, full of wit, and was an excellent cook. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Survivors include two daughters, Martha Neff and husband, Dick of Leesburg, Mary Lumpkin and husband, Bill of Waycross, GA; one son, Frank "Smitty" Cannon and wife, Rhonda of Hillsboro, KY; 11 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hoke S. Cannon.

A native of Marietta, GA, Mrs. Ellis was a homemaker and was an active member of First Baptist Church of Albany for over 70 years where she taught Sunday School. She was past-president of Eugemar Garden Club where she was an active member for many years, and was a member of the American Legion Women's Auxiliary. Mrs. Ellis had lived in Warner RObins for the past several years with her daughter, Lucia E. Brantley. Mrs. Ellis was preceded in death by her husband, J. Cal Ellis; son Calvin K. Ellis, two daughters, Delaine Perry and JoAnn Baldwin.
Survivors include two daughters, Lucia E. Brantley and her husband, Gene of Warner Robins and Marion E. Sulzer of Atlanta; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

PELHAM - The Rev. W. Lewis Crosby, 83, of 4486 Highway 65, Pelham, died Tuesday, September 23, 2003, at Mitchell County Hospital in Camilla.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Pelham First Baptist Church with interment in Pinecrest Memroy Gardens. The Rev. Kim Greuser and Ronnie Morrell will officiate.
Honorary pallbearers will be Thomas L. Eppes, Cory Peek, Gary Singleton, Scott Kennedy, Thomas Cook and Jack Peek.
Born December 10, 1921, in Mitchell County, Mr. Crosby was an Air Force veteran of WW II, a retired rural letter carrier for the U.S. Post Office, and minister. He was a former city councilman for the city of Pelham. He also pastored several churches in the Southwest Georgia area. He was a member of Pelham First Baptist Church, Smith-Spence American Legion Post #144 and a member and former teacher of the Adult Men's 5 Sunday School Class at the First Baptist Church. He was active in the Pelham Senior Citizen Center and was a deacon of the Pelham First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Carrie Crosby of Pelham; two grandsons, Thomas L. Eppes of Jacksonville, Fla., and Cory Peek of Albany, GA; one great-grandson, Tyler Eppes of Jacksonville, Fla.; one stepson, James Singleton of Pelham; one stepdaughter, Rhonda Peek of Albany; brother, Bernie Crosby of Ventura, CA; sisters, Hazel Emelio of Macon and a number of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Crosby was preceded in death by his first wife, Mattie Bell Crosby; a daughter, Mary Crosby, and parents, Reuben and Clyde Jarrells Crosby.
