CUTHBERT - James "Jim" Buford Harris, 60, of Ft. Gaines died Saturday, September 27, 2003, in Panama City, FL.
A memorial service will be held today at 2 p.m. October 4, 2003, from the First Baptist Church in Ft. Gaines with the Rev. Jeff Hines officiating.
Mr. Harris was born November 18, 1942, in Montgomery, AL, the son of Buford Jackson and Lena May Harris. He was a retired Gunnery Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps, serving two years in Vietnam. Mr. Harris was formerly of Sylvester where he lived for many years before moving to Ft. Gaines, GA. Mr. Harris was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ft. Gaines where he had lived for 10 years.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen Burbridge Harris of Ft. Gaines; one son, David D. Harris of Ft. Gaines; three daughters, Elizabeth Jordan of Cross Lanes, WV, Edith Sloane Brown of Indianapolis, IN, and Tina Denise Dixon of Sylvester, GA; one brother, Jackson Harris of Montgomery, AL; two grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Toy's for Santa, c/o Regions Bank, Ft. Gaines or Saint Judes Childrens Hosp.

Raymond Douglas Harrison Sr.
EUFAULA, Ala. - Funeral services for Raymond Douglas Harrison Sr., 79, of Douglasville, and formerly of Georgetown, will be held at 2 p.m. EDT today at Kent Funeral Home Chapel. The Richard Blevins will officiate and burial will follow in the Georgetown Cemetery. Mr. Harrison died Wednesday, October 1, 2003, at his home in Douglasville after an extended illness.
Born July 23, 1924, in Alexander City, Ala., Mr. Harrison was the son of the late William J. and Mary Magdalene Mask Harrison. Mr. Harrison had lived in Douglasville for the past year to be near his children due to failing health. He had lived in Georgetown for twenty-one years prior to that move. He was a member of the Georgetown Baptist Church and loved his Sunday school class. He was a Master Mason of the Will Fitzgerald Lodge #726 of Georgetown. He had previously been named Mason of the Year and had served as past Worshipful Master. He was a member of the Eastern Star Chapter #462 of Eufaula and served 2 terms as Worthy Patron. Mr. Harrison was a member of the Shriners Temple of Albany, Ga., and served as a Merritus member of the Directors Staff. He retired from the ATF in 1979 at age 55. Mr. Harrison was a WW II veteran having served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Harrison of Douglasville; a son and daughter-in-law, Rusty and Brenda Harrison of Douglasville; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Dwain Lester of Dallas, Ga.; nine grandchildren, Jack Dale, Christy Piper, Shane Lester, Shannon Silvers, Angie Loyless, Bryan Cordell, Michael Cordell, Jonathan Harrison and Amy Harrison; 11 great-grandchildren.
Asked to serve as pallbearers are grandsons, Jack Dale, Bradley Silvers, Shane Lester, Michael Piper, Bryan Cordell and Michael Cordell.

MOULTRIE - Robert Earl Pitts, 81, of 326 N. Green Street, Doerun, died Wednesday, October 1, 2003, at his residence.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Doerun Cemetery. The Rev. Michael Warren and the Rev. Julian Griner will officiate.
Born May 31, 1922, in Worth County, Mr. Pitts was a rural mail carrier for the Doerun Post Office and was an Army veteran. He was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the DAV.
Survivors include his sons, Donnie Pitts, Kenneth Pitts and John Pitts, all of Moultrie; three daughters, Earline Hughey of Doerun, Rosella Spoon of Mississippi and Margie High of Doerun; one sister, Myrtle Ford of Albany; one brother, Milton Pitts of Birmingham, AL; 17 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Mae Heffner Pitts who died on May 20, 2003; one son, Danny Pitts; one daughter, Billie Jean Pitts; and parents, Rosa Lee Carroll Pitts and Reuben Calhoun Pitts.

Funeral services will be held at noon today in Floral Memory Gardens in Albany with the Rev. Dean Knip officiating and burial following. The family received friends Thursday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Willis was born August 1, 1918, in Montezuma, daughter of the late George Avery Sr. and Mary Hannah Schofield Avery. She had lived in Columbus for the past 35 years where she was a homemaker and active member of Spirit of God Fellowship Church. She was preceded in death by a brother, Herbert Schofield Crook.

A native of Farra Italy, Mrs. O'Hare grew up in Chicago before moving to Albany over 40 years ago. She loved ballroom dancing, the city of Chicago and the aroma and beauty of all types of flowers. She was a devoted, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother that dearly loved her family and church of which; she was a member of St. Teresa's Catholic Church for more than 40 years. She was preceded in death by her husband James Robert O'Hare Sr.

Born January 2, 1921, Mr. Whitfield was a retired tire capper for Georgia Tire and Battery and was a WW II Navy veteran. He was a graduate of Monroe High School. He was a member of Third Kiokee Baptist Church where he served on the usher board for over 53 years.
Survivors include his wife, Mamie Singleton-Whitfield of Leesburg; seven daughters, Marva W. Young of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Eunice W. Wesley of Mamaroneck, NY, Jeanette W. Bowens, Janice Route Blaylock, Carla R. Baker, Brenda G. Wallace and Marcia Lynn Whitfield, all of Albany; four sons, Robert Whitfield and Herman Whitfield, both of Albany, William C. Harris and Carl L. Route, both of Atlanta; two brothers, John L. Whitfield of Leesburg and George Whitfield of West Palm Beach, Fla.; three sisters, Donella Simmons and Geneva Northern, both of Brooklyn, NY, and Helen Phipps of Philadelphia, PA; 34 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
