ALBANY - Myrtice Mixon Hayes, 97, of Albany, died Sunday, November 16, 2003 at Palmyra Medical Center.
The graveside service will be conducted 11 AM Wednesday at Floral Memory Gardens with the Rev. Tami Coleman officiating.
Mrs. Hayes was born on November 23, 1905 in Ocilla, GA. She attended the Irwin County schools and graduated from Ocilla High School in 1926. Mrs. Hayes lived in Albany since 1928 and was a member of First United Methodist Church where she attended the Sapp Sunday School class. She was a volunteer for the Red Cross for 15 years. Mrs. Hayes was preceded in death by her husband, Ira I. Hayes, her daughter, Jo Ann Johnson, a grandson, Steve Johnson, and fourteen siblings.
Survivors include her daughters: Betty Jean Vining and Janice McLendon both of Albany; four grandchildren: Deb Mattox of Crestview, FL, Terri Godbolt of Midlothian, VA, Kim Meffert of Chester, VA and Stacy Reeves of Rincon, GA; seven great-grandchildren: Chad Mattox of Niceville, FL, Joy Covil of Midlothian, VA, Tracy D'Antonia of Midlothian, VA, Ben Godbolt of Midlothian, VA, Amy Purvis of Elgin, SC, Jason, Shanna and Sarah Reeves of Rincon, GA; five great-great-grandchildren: Ashley and Amber Purvis, Josie Covil, Joshua Mattox, and Nathaniel Reeves.

ALBANY - Annie Will Tyson Idlett, 90, of 1001 East Tift Ave. died Thursday, November 13, 2003, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be at 1 P.M. Wednesday at Greater Pines Chapel Baptist Church with interment in Riverside Cemetery with the Rev. R.N. Elzia Jr. officiating.
Mrs. Idlett, born in Sumter County, was a homemaker and member of the Golden Key Club. She was also a member of the Third Kiokee Baptist Church in her later years. She attended Sumter County Public Schools in her early years.
Survivors include three daughters, Mary Ann Bruce of Oakland Ca., Celestine Wooden of Albany, and Louise Barnes of Atlanta; two sons, Eugene Idlett and Johnny Lee Idlett both of Albany; one sister, Mattie Rembert of Pittsburgh Pa.; three brothers, Johnny Lee Tyson and Walter Lee Tyson both of Americus, Horace Tyson of Atlanta; 34 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
The remains of Mrs. Idlett will lie-in state at the church on Wednesday at 12 Noon.

ALBANY - Ellen Palmer Taylor, 72 of 181 Lynwood Ln. in Leesburg, GA died Saturday, November 15, 2003 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.

A native of Camilla, GA, Mrs. Taylor was a graduate of University of Georgia and a retired teacher having taught at the Albany Vocational School. She was a faithful member of the First Christian Church of Albany.
She was preceded in death by her husband, R.H. Taylor, Jr., daughter, Pamela Ellen Taylor, brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Joe M. Palmer.
Survivors include her daughter, Lynne Lippert and husband Steven of Ft Worth, TX, son, R.H. Taylor III and wife Fran of Leesburg, grandchildren, Melissa Taylor, Ricky Taylor, Tony Lippert, Phuong Lippert, Shawn Lippert, Trong Lippert and Blanca Lippert and eight great-grandchildren, two sisters, Lucille Bostick of Camilla, GA, Wyolene Bivins of Moultrie, GA, two brothers, Hartley Palmer and Dan Palmer, Jr. of Camilla, GA.

ALBANY - Robert L. Taylor, 74, of Georgetown died Friday, November 14, 2003, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held today at 11 A.M. at Hall & Hall Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Don Driskill officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery in Moultrie.
Mr. Taylor had lived in Georgetown since 1988 and was a lifetime member of the VFW. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving in Korea.
Survived by his wife, Barbara Taylor of Georgetown; a son, Jordan L. Taylor of Albany; stepsons, Charles Whitfield of Doerun, Dennis, Joey, and Ralph Thompson all of Albany, Michael Thompson of Americus; stepdaughters, Joyce Hall of Sylvester, Denice Stempinski and Debra Spurlin of Leesburg; sisters, Velma Tharpe, and Ruby Murphy both of Albany; and twenty-four grandchildren.

Marjorie Rogers Calhoun Bogart
ATHENS - Marjorie Rogers Calhoun Bogart of 1151 Liberty Lane passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2003.
Born on March 28, 1934 in Franklin to the late Alvin and Verda Kent Rogers and born into a family of educators, she became a school principle. Marjorie was a graduate of LaGrange High School and the University of Georgia with a music degree. She received a masters and doctoral degree from the university in Reading Education.
Marjorie married Calfrey C. Calhoun, also an educator, in September 1960. She taught music in Heard County Public Schools and was later a principle and school administrator with the Barrow County Schools. She spent five years as a member of the Education Faculty at East Carolina University and moved to Albany in 1988 to become principle of Lee County Elementary School. She later served as principle of Lee County Middle School and Kinchafoonie Elementary School.
She was an active member of the Milledge Ave. Baptist Church where she taught the Friendship Sunday School class.
She is survived by her husband Dr. Calfrey C. Calhoun; daughter and son-in-law, Maria and Royce Pittman; son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Millie Calhoun; four grandchildren, Connor and Meredith Pittman, Stephanie and Nicholas Calhoun; one brother, Wendell Rogers and one niece Andrea Brown.
Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. today at the Milledge Ave. Baptist Church with Dr. Edward Bolen and Rev. Claude McBride officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park. Online tributes may be made at www.mem.com.

Miss Hooks was born March 19, 1903, in Randolph County, daughter of the late William Jefferson and Elizabeth Aycock Hooks. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cuthbert and was retired from Randolph County Family & Childrens Services. She was a former member of the Cuthbert Pilot Club.
Survivors include three nephews, Phil Tatum of Huntsville, Al., Harold Hooks of Montgomery Al., Marlin Brown of Cuthbert; three nieces, Lorene B. Moore of Pompano Beach Fla., Wynelle N. Hare of Delrey Beach Fla., and Dorothy H. Watson of Cordele, and many great-nieces and nephews.
