Mary Denise Rich
CARLYLE - Mary Denise Rich, 41, of Carlyle Il., entered into rest on Wednesday, November 12, 2003, at her residence. She was born on June 28, 1962, in Albany a daughter of R. Wayne and Shirley Ann (Ballew) Rich. She married Mark Brandt on November 11, 2000, in Salem Il.
Mrs. Rich is survived by her husband, Mark of Jenison Mi.; a son, David Beer of Carlyle; her father, R. Wayne Rich of Albany; her mother, Shirley Ballew of Tifton; three sisters, Felicia Farthing and husband Daniel of Odin, Miriam Finley and husband David of Americus, and Renee Rich of Atlanta; a brother, Wallace Rich and wife Melinda of Albany and her former husband, Dennis Beer of Carlyle.
Mrs. Rich came to this area in 1994. She enjoyed cheer leading and playing basketball and was very involved in church activities in her youth. She graduated with honors from the Atlanta Institute of the Arts, and enjoyed singing and song writing.
A funeral service will be held at 10 A.M. Saturday at Zieren Day Funeral Home in Carlyle, officiated by the Church of Latter Day Saints. Interment will follow in Peaceful Valley Cemetery in Odin. Friends may call at Zieren Day Funeral Home on Friday from 6-8 P.M. and Saturday from 9 A.M. until the time of the service.
Expressions of sympathy in memory of Mrs. Rich may be made to the David Beer Trust Fund and they will be receive at Zieren Day Funeral Home.

Ella Mae Mathis-Barber
ALBANY - Ella Mae Mathis-Barber, 83, of 1219 East Society Ave. died Thursday, November 13, 2003, at Palmyra Medical Centers.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Mt. Holder Baptist Church in Albany with interment in the church cemetery. The Rev. Johnny Gardner, pastor will officiate.
Born March 9, 1920, in Albany, Mrs. Barber was a retired dietitian for the Dougherty County Board of Education. She attended Dougherty County public schools. She was a member of Mt. Holder Baptist Church where she served on the deaconess board. She was also a member of the Golden Key Club and the Floral Club.
Survivors include four daughters, Betty Harris of Westover, Md., Arnella Bellamy of Tampa, Fla., Lillian Gilyard and Elaine Barber-Anderson, both of Albany; three sons, Eddie J. Barber and Walter Lee Barber, both of Albany, and John Henry Barber of Ft. Mead, Md.; three sisters, Charlie Mae Brown of Sylvester, Rose Jackson of Albany and Evelyn Garner of Los Angeles, Calif.; two brothers, George Mathis Jr. and Willie C. Mathis, both of Albany; 24 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
The remains of Mrs. Barber will lie-in-state at the church Thursday from 1 p.m. until the funeral hour.

Robert Hollis Taylor Sr.
ALBANY - Robert Hollis Taylor Sr., 60, of Albany died Thursday, November 13, 2003.
The funeral was held at 4 p.m. Saturday at Sheffield Funeral Chapel with interment in Colquitt City Cemetery.
Born December 17, 1942, in Early County, Mr. Taylor was a service manager with Coca Cola Company in Albany. He graduated from Miller County High School class of 1960. He was an accomplished musician playing drums, bass and vocal with Sang White, Dave Mercer Band, Pete Lewis, Mack Mercer Band. He enjoyed life. He always had a joke to tell.
Survivors include his son, Robert Hollis Taylor Jr. of Albany; two daughters, Lisa Carole Taylor Durden of Iron City and Terry Fann of Dallas, TX; one sister, Judy Bell of Albany. He was "Grandandy" to Hudson Durden, Landon Durden, Cameron Durden, Brannon Durden, Kelly Fann and Michael Fann.
Visitation was held from 3 p.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday at Colquitt Funeral Home.

CORDELE - Johnny H. Cape, 62 , of Cordele died at his residence Monday, November 17, 2003.
He was born on Tuesday, September 2, 1941 in Cordele. He was the owner of Cape Construction Company and a member of Morningside Baptist Church.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Morningside Baptist Church with interment to follow at Penia Baptist Church Cemetery.
He is survived by his mother, Lucille Elizabeth Cape of Cordele; one daughter, Vicky Lynne Cape of Cordele; two sons Vince Cape of Stockbridge and Christopher Cape of Cordele; two sisters, Retha (Cape) Sewell of Hawkinsville and Pat (Cape) Dudley of White; one granddaughter, Heather Smith of Cordele; two grandsons, Clay Cape and Brett Cape, both of Stockbridge.
He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Harrison Cape.
