Gary Milton West
RICHLAND - Gary Milton West, 62, of Parrott, died Saturday, January 14, 2006 at his residence.
Memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at L.B. Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Richland, with the Revs. Wallace Willis and Kenneth Lee West officiating.
Born on December 2, 1943 in Sumter County, Mr. West was the son of the late Lettie Downer West and Wesley Milton West. Mr. West was a retired farmer and small business owner. He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church, also attended Terrell County Schools. He was a graduate of Florida State University with a Bachelor of Science in Finance, where he was a member of Delta Chi Fraternity. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. In additional to his parents, Mr. West was preceded in death by a brother, Heyward West.
Survivors include his wife, Delia Almon West of Parrott; children, Miriam Blake West and Mary Bonnie West, both of Parrott, Daniel Grady Almon of Preston, Dave Vincent Almon and Joseph Milton West, both of Dawson, and Brooks West Hart of Americus; one brother, the Rev. Kenneth Lee West of Pelham; and three grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.

ALBANY - Mary Kimbrell Brookshier, 83, of Albany, GA, died Sunday at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.
Funeral services Thursday, 11 AM at Kimbrell-Stern Funeral Directors with interment in Crown Hill Cemetery. Rev. Nathan Godley and Rev. Phil Streetman will officiate.
A native of Albany, she was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.V. Kimbrell; 2 brothers, W.V. Kimbrell Jr. and W.R. (Bob) Kimbrell. She was a member of Porterfield Memorial United Methodist Church and Crepe Myrtle Chapter #163, 0.E.S.
Survivors include her husband, Robert L. Brookshier of Albany; son, Robert L. (Bucky) Brookshier Jr. and wife, Ruby of Cordele; 2 daughters, Kathy Dohse and her husband, Del of Spotsylvania, VA and Barbara Hicks and her husband, David of Albany; 9 grandchildren, Robin Brookshier, Mary Kay Young, Kevin Dohse, Mike Dohse, Robert L. (Rob) Brookshier III, Laurel Lunsford, Ashley Craven, Felicia McCorvey and Pam Richter; 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 5 PM until 7 PM at Kimbrell-Stern and will be at the residence of Barbara and David Hicks, 2106 Chatham Dr.

Billy Joe Gardner
ALBANY - The funeral service of Billy Joe Gardner, 58, of W. 703 2nd Ave., Albany, who died Saturday, January 14, 2006, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, will be conducted Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. Mr. John Evans will officiate. Interment will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery.
A native of Panama City Beach, FL, Mr. Gardner had resided in Albany since 1988 moving from Panama City, FL. He retired after 35 years as a carpet installer. Mr. Gardner was an avid coffee drinker that loved to kick carpet in.
Survivors include his wife, Anita Gardner of Albany; a son and his wife, Leon and Tina Gardner of Pelham; a daughter and her husband, LeAnn and Jonathan Tholen of Leesburg; two sisters and their husbands, Freda and Lee Wiggins of Albany and Pat and Conley Stancell of Hampton, GA; two grandchildren, Justin and Sierra Gardner of Pelham and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home.

Vivian B. Harvey
ALBANY - The funeral service of Vivian B. Harvey, 84, of 1802 Whispering Pines Rd., who died Monday, January 16, 2006, at her residence will be conducted Wednesday, January 18, 2006, at 11 a.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. The Rev. Ike Branch will officiate. Entombment will follow in Crown Hill Mausoleum.
A native of Richmond Co., GA, Mrs. Harvey had resided in Albany for the past fifty two years moving from Bibb Co., GA. She was a homemaker and of the Methodist faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lynwood F. Harvey and a son-in-law, Ken H. Mills.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Ellen Mills of Albany, Veronica Y. Truan and her husband, Andy of Forsyth, GA; a sister, Katherine Mobley of North Augusta, SC; two sisters-in-law, Annette Dill of Sharpsburg, GA, Madeline Barton of North Augusta, SC; five grandchildren and their spouses, Danny and Lynn Higgs, Keith and Glenda Johnson, Matt and Cindi Mills, Jill and Benny Leverett, Chance and Julie Mills; eight great-grandchildren, John Higgs, Caleb Williams, Dallas Mills, Abigail Johnson, Mattison Mills, Morgan Mills, Isabella Johnson, Chanie Mills and Billy Sampson.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home.

Michael Joseph Heldenberg
ALBANY - On Sunday, January 15, 2006, one more brave warrior fell victim to the dreaded monster known as Melanoma, and the gates of Heaven opened wide to welcome him home.
Michael Joseph Heldenberg, 37, fought with all his might for the past 10 months, but even with the finest surgeons at both John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD, and Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, GA, the battle was lost.
Mike leaves two large families who both mourn his loss, yet rejoice in having been blessed with his presence. He is survived by his fiancee, Paula Lee Andrese, the love of his life and his soul mate, whom he waited a lifetime of Maryland; his parents, Don and Marta Heldenberg of Parrott; eight brothers and sisters. They are Laurie A. Eagan of North Beach, MD, Becky Burke of Tallahassee, FL, Mary Smith (Don) of Flagler Beach, FL, Tom Heldenberg (Heather) of Leesburg, Tim Heldenberg, Terry Heldenberg (Angie) and Alice Heldenberg, all of Albany, and William Heldenberg of Tallahassee, FL; five nieces, Brandi Heldenberg, Rachel and Julia Smith, Andrea Heldenberg, Karen Eagan; seven nephews, Matt Burke, Marty and Tom Eagan, Derrick and Jacob Heldenberg, John Heldenberg and Chandler Heldenberg; one great-niece, Hannah Welch. Surviving aunts and uncles are: John (Georgetta) Glass, Robert (Marilyn) Glass and Richard (Jeanne) Glass, all of Fairfield, Iowa, Steven Glass and Barbara (Jim) Dray, all of Aurora, IL, Mary Darr (Bob) of Milton, Iowa, and Ginny Gengler (Jim) of Birmingham, Iowa.
Mike was born January 31, 1968, in Aurora, IL, but grew up and attended school in Albany. In 1988, Mike relocated to Maryland be near his sisters and subsequently began touching and impacting the lives of a new family through the fellowship of sharing and caring. He will be greatly missed by all who were blessed by having known him.
Michael chose to be cremated with a memorial service planned at 6 p.m. Thursday, January 19, 2006, at Mathews Funeral Home. Sandra K. Meadows will officiate.
A second memorial service will be held in Maryland at a later date. After which, Michael's biker family will take him for his final ride, spreading his ashes in his favorite blessed place of the world.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations in Michael's name be made to, Albany Community Hospice, P.O. Box 1828, Albany, GA 31702 or to the American Cancer Society, 323 Pine Ave., Suite 100, Albany, GA 31701, designated to be used in Melanoma Research.
