ALBANY - Joe Claude Nobles, 90 years old, born September 10, 1913, the son of the late Tom and Hallie Nobles, died at his home on April 14, 2004, after a short illness. A resident of Cordele, Ga., (Lake Blackshear) for the last 17 years he spent most of his life in Albany, Ga., where he worked for 42 years at Lilliston Implement Co.
He was preceded in death by his his beloved wife, Uldean and "Oye" Parker.
He is survived by his brother Otis Nobles (Hazel) of Juliette, Ga., and his sister, Agnes Smith of Albany, Ga. He is also survived by his son, William Edward Taylor of Dublin, Ga.; his daughter, Charlotte (Lee) Henderson of Dexter, Ga.; four grandchildren, Letitia (Cole) Miller of Dublin, Ga., Lee (Brenda) Henderson of Peachtree City, Ga., Stacey Vargo of Emporia, Va., and Scott (Mary) Taylor of Greenville, S.C. He is also survived by six great grandchildren, Heath and Cori Miller of Dublin, Ga., Blake and Haley Kate Henderson of Peachtree City, Ga., Paden Vargo of Emporia, Va., and Caroline Taylor of Greenville, S.C.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to the Crisp Regional Hospice Care, 201 2nd Ave. E., Cordele, Ga.
A memorial service to celebrate the long and happy life of Mr. Nobles will be held at a later date. Friends and family will be contacted.

SYLVESTER - Jim Spence, 77, of 707 N. Livingston St., Sylvester, died Thursday, April 15, 2004, at his residence.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Banks Funeral Chapel with interment in Hillcrest Cemetery. The Rev. Tim Bice will officiate.
Born January 26, 1927, to James Leon Spence Sr. and Margaret Lawrence Spence, Mr. Spence had lived in Sylvester since 1976. He was a salesman with McKesson Distribution. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of W.W. II. He was a member of Sherwood Baptist Church and the V.F.W.
Survivors include his wife, Jeri Musselwhite Spence of Sylvester; daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Jeff Heard of Hickory, N.C.; sons and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Gail Spence of Leesburg, and Larry Spence and Stan Spence, both of Albany; stepdaughters and sons-in-law, Ginger and Paul Strinney of Crawfordville, Fla., Wanda Lee Brown of Tifton and Karen and Scott Bivins of Sale City; stepson and daughter-in-law, Marvin and Donna Brown of Sale City; seven grandchildren, Emily and Jenna Heard, Nicklaus and Brandon Spence, Stephen Brown, Scottie and Christa Bivins; one great-grandchild, Ethan Bivins.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Emily Geeslin Spence June 26, 1976, and parents, James Leon Spence Sr. and Margaret Lawrence Spence.

Mr. Cherry, 67, died Monday, April 12, 2004, at his residence. He was the son of the late Jim and Mattie Cherry of Dooly County. He was a member of the Brown Chapel Baptist Church where he was ordained a Deacon. He was owner and operator of Cherry & Company Plumbing and Septic Tank.
Survivors include his wife of forty eight years, Mattie Cherry of Unadilla; four children, Phillip (Voncile) Woodson of Newark, N.J., Minnie (Anthony) Gordon of Valdosta, James E. (Tabatha) Cherry Jr. of Orlando, Fla., and Darlene (Ricardo) McCampbell of Unadilla; a brother, Willie Bell (Dorothy) Cherry of Vienna; a devoted grandson, Jartavious Cherry of Unadilla; six sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two aunts and other relatives.
The body will be placed in the church at 2:30 p.m.

Mrs. Collier, 88, died Friday, April 9, 2004, at her residence. She was the daughter of the late Julius and Sarah Cross Buckles of Dooly County, a member of the Forest Chapel Baptist Church where she served on the missionary board, senior choir, and mother of the church.
She was the widow of Frank Collier.
Survivors include three sons, Sammie Collier and John (Barbara) Collier of Vienna and Julius (Ethel) Collier of Jacksonville, Fla.; seven daughters, Helen Johnson of Miami, Fla., Sarah Blackshear and Myrtice (Earl) Clark of Vienna, Lillie (Henry) Bowens and Annie (Ron) Wheeler of Unadilla, Patricia (Rev. Coley) Clark Jr. of Ellaville and Peggy (Luther) Dykes of Atlanta; a granddaughter whom she reared, Mercie (Lonnie) Mathis of Vienna; a daughter-in-law, Ruby Nell Collier of Vienna; a sister-in-law, Annie R. Buckles of Pinehurst; 61 grandchildren; 106 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great grandchildren.
