Active pallbearers will be Ricky Tabb, Amos Taylor, Ruel Cleveland, Joe Cleveland, Wesley Cleveland, Tony Mock, Jeff Parker and Kevin Tabb.
Born April 27, 1925, in Miller County, Mr. Tabb was a farmer and a member of Macedonia Free Will Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Mary Joyce and Ronnie Parker of Cordele; one sister, Welthie Lee Cleveland of Colquitt; one brother, Henderson Tabb of Meridian, MS; two grandchildren, Jeff Parker and granddaughter-in-law, Mary of St. Simons Island and Jenny Parker of Savannah; two great-grandchildren, Sam Parker and Adi Parker.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Nadine Taylor and Laverne Guidroz and one son, James Edwin Tabb.

DAWSON - Mary Ann Alexander Young, 73, of 252 Gordon St. NW, Dawson, GA, died Saturday, April 10, 2004, at her residence.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 17, 2004, at ATOC African Methodist Episcopal Church, 368 6th Ave., Dawson, GA, where the Rev. E.X. King is pastor. The Rev. Elzie Staten Pastor of St. Mark African Methodist Episcopal Church, Thomasville, GA, will officiate. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Dawson, GA.
She attended the public schools of Terrell County, GA, and graduated from George Washington Carver High School, Dawson, GA. She worked as an agent for Atlanta Life Insurance Company for a number of years. Later, she attended Albany Area Technical School earning certification as a nurse's assistant in 1971. She lovingly cared for the sick at Terrell County Hospital thirteen years until her health began to decline and she was unable to work.
Mary Ann leaves to cherish her precious memories, the love of her life, Lucious "Bee Bub" Young Jr., whom she was wedded to for fifty five years; nine children, Joanne Young Lynn of Miami, FL, Larry (Ethel) Young of Jersey City, NJ, Louvenia Young Harris of Columbus, GA, Loretta Jones of Dawson, GA, Lynda Young Willis of Albany, GA, Dessie Young (J.J.) Hardwick of East Point, GA, Robert Young of JErsey City, N.Y., Ruby Young of Dawson, GA, and Deacon Myron (Denise) Young of Savannah, GA.; three sisters ,Eizabeth (Kenneth) Poole and Catherine Rose (Robert), both of Jersey City, N.J., and Alma Hicks of Dawson, GA; one brother, (Ret. MCS) John Wesley (Frances) Alexander of Highland, CA, and one uncle, Ira Williams of Philadelphia, PA; 17 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and caring friends.

ALBANY - Willie Barnes Jr., 56, of 292 Tazor St., Atlanta, died Saturday, May 29, 2004, at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta.
The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Second Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Albany with interment in Floral Memory Gardens Cemetery. The Rev. Theodus Drake will officiate.
Born February 17, 1948, in Albany, Mr. Barnes was a landscaper. He attended Dougherty County public schools and Second Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Craig Barnes of Atlanta and Calvin Boyd of Albany; one daughter, Pracilla Jenkins of Washington, D.C.; his mother, Willie Rean Harris-Barnes of Albany; two sisters, Carolyn Barbary and Evelyn Barnes, both of Albany; one brother, William Barnes of Omaha, Neb.; and grandchildren.
The remains of Mr. Barnes will lie-in-state at the church on Saturday evening from 2 p.m. until the funeral hour.
The family of Mr. Barnes will receive friends and relatives at the home of his mother, Willie Rean Harris-Barnes, 634 Harmon Ave., Albany.

ALBANY - Jimmie Lee Davis Sr., 77, of 1401 Gillespie Ave. died Saturday, May 29, 2004, at his residence.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at New Jerusalem Pentecostal Church of God in Christ in Albany with interment in Riverside Cemetery. Superintendent Jerry Cochran, pastor will officiate.
Born March 28, 1927, in Terrell County, Mr. Davis was retired from the Marine Corps Logistics Base in Albany and was an Army veteran. He attended Terrell County public schools and was a member of Sardis Baptist Church in Dawson.
Survivors include his wife, Hattie Walker Davis of Albany; one son, Jimmy Lee Davis Jr. of Atlanta; five daughters, Mildred Davis, Evelyn (Connie) Powell, Rutha Davis Strawder and Patricia Ann Davis, all of Albany, Juanita Davis (Willie) Jones of West Palm Beach, Fla.; 42 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
The remains of Mr. Davis will lie-in-state at the church on Saturday morning from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour.

A native of Worth Co., GA, Mr. Knight had lived in Albany since 1960, where he was a member of Porterfield Memorial United Methodist Church and the Alpha Sunday School Class. Mr. Knight owned and operated Knights Appliance and Electronics since 1965, and prior to that he operated Hobart Sales and Service. He also, served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include his wife, Katherine Knight of Albany; son, Chuck Knight and his wife, Debra of Albany; daughter, Kay Pace and her husband, Jimbo of Albany; five grandsons, Wesley Knight, David Knight, Dallas Knight, Ashton Pace and Parks Pace; two brothers, Leonard Knight of Albany and Gene Knight and his wife, Merle of Dawson; two sisters, Frances Lenox and her husband, Harlan of Lexington, KY, and Eve Lutz and her husband, George of Lady Lakes, FL, and several nieces and nephews.

ALBANY - George W. Turner Sr. of 1002 Third Ave., Albany, died Thursday, June 3, 2004, at his residence after an extended illness. During this time, he received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and became a member of the body of Christ.
The graveside entombment service will be held Saturday, June 5, 2004, at 11 a.m. in Leesburg Cemetery in Leesburg. The Rev. Bobby Moye will officiate.
George was born November 1, 1927, in Lee County, the son of Henry LaDonne Turner and Christine Sadler Turner, both deceased. He attended Leesburg schools and graduated from Riverside Military Academy in 1945. Following his graduation, he served in the United States Army. George attended Auburn University where he was president of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He graduated in 1951 with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture. He began his career with First State Bank of Albany, Ga., and advanced to Vice President during his 27 years at the bank. He was a member of Georgia Bankers Association, the Kiwanis Club and the Heart Association.
His hobbies were hunting, golfing, collecting antiques and woodworking. He was known for his talent as a master wood craftsman. George was a grizzly bear on the outside but a teddy bear on the inside.
Survivors include a son, William Turner Jr. of Marietta; a daughter, Jan Turner Phillips of Albany; his former wife, Jane Horne Turner and six grandchildren, Gina, John and Savannah Turner of Marietta, Ryan Phillips of Birmingham, Ala., and Allison and Collin Phillips of Albany.
Preceding George in death was a brother, Henry LaDonne Turner Jr.; surviving siblings are Sylvia Turner Peterson of Albany and Lawrence Turner and his wife, Cathy of Lee County and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held today from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home.

DAWSON - John William "Willie" Birdsong, 83, of Dawson died on Wednesday, June 2, 2004, at Dawson Manor Nursing Home.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Harvey Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wyman Richardson officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Birdsong was born April 18, 1921, in Ft. Gaines in Clay County, son of the late W.A. Birdsong and the late Pearl Belise Birdsong. He graduated from Ft. Gaines High School and Georgia School of Banking in Athens. He began his career with the Southern Cotton Oil Co. of Dawson, which was interrupted by WW II, in which he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served until the end of the war. He then returned to the Southern Cotton Oil Co. until 1959 when he joined the staff of The Bank of Dawson. He retired as Senior Vice President with 30 years of service.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Dawson, a member of the American Legion and the Terrell Co. V.F.W. Post #5743. Mr. Birdsong was a member of the P.T. Schley Masonic Lodge #229 where he had received his 50 year pin and was a Shriner and a charter member of the Hasan Temple of Albany, where he had also received his 50 year pin. He was a charter member of the Golden Kiwanis Club of Dawson and served on the Terrell County Dept. of Family & Children's Services Board for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Lorene Daniel Birdsong of Dawson; brother-in-law, Bill Daniel and his wife, Glynn of Dawson; cousins, Patsy D. Speir and Don Daniel, both of Dawson, James Forrest of Montgomery, Ala., Faye Sanders of Edison and Hilda Lane of Camilla; nieces and nephews, Rene Roberts of Albany, Pam Wynn of Oxford, Deborah Crawford of Bronwood, Laura Radcliff of Savannah and J.C. Daniel III of Macon; great-nieces and great nephews, Dayne and Raines Roberts of Albany, Courtney and Kendall Wynn of Oxford, Rob, Betsy, Daniel and Carrie Crawford of Bronwood, Tori, Becka and Cheslie Daniel of Macon, Heather Hartin of Leesburg, Corey, Lindsey and Lauren Melton, all of Savannah; great-great niece and nephew, Chelsa and Jonathan Bass of Leesburg; and many, many friends.
