CHESAPEAKE, Va. - Lt. Col. Raymond A. Post of Albany died Tuesday, July 27, 2004, at Norfolk General Hospital, in Norfolk, Va., from an extended illness. He was 86. Lt. Col. Post was born July 15, 1918, in Jackson, Mich., and was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Post.
He retired in 1970 from the United States Marine Corps after finishing his career in Washington, D.C. Lt. Col. Post served in three war campaigns, World War II, Iwo Jima, in which he was wounded in action and received the Purple Heart and The Presidential Citation with Star. Lt. Col. Post also served in the Korean conflict and the Vietnam War. Lt. Col. Post was awarded numerous service medals and Commendations.
Survivors include children, Sherry Marchy of Chesapeake, Va., Ricky Post of Cleveland, Ga.; granddaughter, Addi Post of Cleveland, Ga.; sister, Evie Stringham of Phoenix, Ariz., and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held September 13, 2004, at 11 a.m. in Arlington National Cemetery. Lt. Col. Post will receive full military honors.

Born February 8, 1909, in Albany, Mr. Evans was retired civil service, Marine Corps Logistics Base in Albany. He attended Dougherty County public schools. He was a member of Beulah Baptist Church where he was a member of the usher board.
Survivors include three daughters, Julia E. Evans and Lillian E. Chatmon, both of Albany, Dr. Mary Anne E. Jones of Philadelphia, Pa.; two sons, Wilburn Evans Jr. of Willingboro, N.J., and William K. Evans of Brunswick; one sister, Mary Ealey of Albany; 28 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
The family of Mr. Evans will receive friends and relatives at the home of his daughter, Lillian E. Chatmon of 2305 Alameda Lane here in Albany.
The remains of Mr. Evans will be placed in the church Saturday morning at 10 a.m.

FORT WORTH, Texas -Mary Stewart Fordham, 90, died Wednesday, December 1, 2004.
The funeral will be today at 2 p.m. at Mariner Nursing Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Floral Memory Gardens in Albany.
Mary was a homemaker all her life and her hobby was her family and friends and cooking pound cakes and cheese biscuits for all she loved.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Fordham; parents, Alan and Elsie Stewart; brothers, J.D. Stewart, Leonard Stewart, Leo Stewart and D. Lamar Stewart, who was the former sheriff of DO. County for many years. Also preceded by sisters, Gordie Herndon, Leona Parrish, Gertrude Parrish.
Mary had been living with her daughter, Jeri McDowell and son- in-law, Alan in Fort Worth for the past 5 years. She lived most of her life in Albany. Mary was a member of Beattie Road Church of Christ in Albany, Ga.
Survivors include her son, Carlton Fordham Jr. and wife Brenda; daughters, Jackie Jarman and husband Amos, Jeri McDowell and husband, Alan; sister, Mildred Ward; grandchildren, Matt Jarman of Hoyden, AL, Amy Jarman Cannon of N. MARIETTA - Brenda Faye Sheffield passed Thursday, November 18, 2004, at Northside Hospital in Atlanta. She was born October 11, 1952, in Dawson.
Brenda was a 1970 honor graduate of Monroe High School. She graduated Cum Laude from Albany State University in 1974. She taught elementary education for over 20 years in various Georgia counties. Brenda was also a talented musician, soloist and choir director for many years.
She is survived by her mother, Sharon Jackson of Albany; two daughters, Donna and Maya Sheffield of Marietta; two grandchildren, Brendan and Kenyatta of Marietta; two sisters, Cheryl Sheffield of Albany, Eleanor Whiting Johnson of Powder Springs; one brother, Frederick Whiting of Smyrna; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 23, 2004, at St. Paul A.M.E. Church in Dallas, Ga.
