SHORTERVILLE, Ala. - Merlin Norris, a resident of County Road 47, Shorterville, AL, died late Monday night, October 2, 2006, at his home. He was 80.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. (C.D.T.) Thursday, October 5, 2006, in the Shorterville Baptist Church with Reverend Mike Lee and Reverend Ray S. Reiley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. (C.D.T.) Wednesday at the mortuary.

Mr. Norris was born and reared in Ft. Gaines, GA, son of the late Henry Earl Norris and Bessie Lou Chitty Norris. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Norris moved to Henry County, AL, near Shorterville, in 1964. He was an active member of the Shorterville Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. Mr. Norris was engaged in farming all his life. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Merlin Daniel Cordell, a sister, Mary Ann Stokes and a brother, James Henry Norris.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Farise Martin Norris of Shorterville; four daughters, Wanda Holmes and husband, Larry Holmes of Sallisaw, OK, Tammy Norris of Slocomb, Bobbie Paschal and husband, Carlos Paschal of Shorterville and Connie Norris of Shorterville; a granddaughter, Kimberly
Perkins, Midland City; two nephews, Kenny Ray Stokes and Jimmy Norris; his special canine friend, Ben.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Phillip Hayes, Jo Jo Money, Clay Money, Wesley Brown, Reggie Scott and Thomas Kennedy.
Deacons will serve as honorary pallbearers.

BAINBRIDGE - Ronnie E. Stone, 67, of Recovery Community, Bainbridge died Monday, October 2, 2006, at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital in Tallahassee, Fla.

DAWSON - Cortez Waters Watson, 80, of Dawson, died at her residence on Tuesday, October 3, 2006. The funeral service will be held at the graveside at 2 P.M. Thursday, October 5, at Cedar Hill Cemetery, with Rev. Chet Thomas officiating.
Mrs. Watson was a native of Worth County, born May 13, 1926, daughter of the late James Benjamin Waters and Willie Odessa Nipper Waters. She moved to Terrell County in 1962 with her husband, the late Roy Eugene Watson who died in 1997.
She was a homemaker and seamstress and enjoyed gardening. She was a member o Calvery Baptist Church, the Senior Adult Ladies Sunday School Class and The Son Shiners.
Survivors include a son, Donald Watson and his wife Brenda of Macon; three daughters; Linda Holloway and husband David of Leslie, Geneiva Thursby and husband Frank and Sandra O'Stean and husband Bobby, all of Dawson, brother, J.N. Waters of Arabi, one sister, Helen Wishum of Americus, brother-in-law, Wallace Watson of Tallapoosa, three sisters-in-law, Doris Williams of Dawson, Jean Brown of Omega and Edna Waters of Arabi, eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

ALBANY - Roddreka Anqunet Broussard, 17, of 622 West Whitney Ave. died Wednesday, November 29, 2006, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. today at Second Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Old Pretoria Rd., Albany, with interment in Floral Memory Garden Cemetery. The Rev. Theodus Drake will officiate.
Born May 17, 1989, in Albany, Miss Broussard was a student at Albany High School. She was a member of New Birth Fellowship Church.
Survivors include four sisters, Keishana Broussard, Teanna Broussard and Keonna Broussard, all of Albany, and Tomeka Hollis of Detroit, MI; one brother, Keon Broussard of Albany; a grandmother, Daisy Broussard of Albany; several aunts and uncles.
The remains of Mrs. Broussard will be placed in the church at noon for viewing until the funeral hour.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Shady Grove Baptist Church, Highway 195, Leesburg, with interment in the church cemetery. The Rev. Sterling Calhoun, pastor and the Rev. Lorenzo Heard officiating.
Born November 15, 1906, in Lee County, Mrs. Heard attended Lee County public schools. She was a homemaker and a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church where she served as mother of the church.
Survivors include three daughters, Ruth Murrell and Aldean Stoudamire, both of Leesburg, Brenda Sheard (Walter) of Ponte Vedra, FL; seven sons, Charles Heard, McArthur Heard and Julius Heard Jr. (Marilyn), all of Leesburg, Walker Lee Heard (Allie) of Arlington, TX, Willie Morris Heard (Joyce) and Melvin Heard (Frances), both of Chicago, IL, and John Heard (Camelia) of Homestead, FL.

SYLVESTER - Alma Florence “Mammaw” Crawford, 73, of Sylvester died Tuesday, January 30, 2007, at Albany Health Care with her family at her side.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 3, 2007, in the chapel of Hall & Hall Funeral Home with Dr. William H. Sims, III officiating. Interment will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Crawford was born March 15, 1933, in Monroe County to the late George Hiram and Agnus Verna Wilson Corley. Mrs. Crawford had worked for Sonny’s Bar- B-Q in the 80’s, and was of the Baptist faith. “Mammaw”, as she was known by many, enjoyed playing bingo at the VFW and was an avid fisher and card player.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Deborah “Mike” and her husband, Joe Potter of Sylvester; one brother and sister- in-law, Mickey and Erin Corley of Flovilla; five sisters and brothers- in-law, Louise Dykes of Forsyth, Doris and Buck Tidwell of Lizella, Ruth Waits of Tennessee, Shirley and Dan Daniels of Forsyth and Janie and Billy Mays of Forsyth; three grandchildren, Joe M. Potter and his wife, Stephanie Potter of Oakfield, John Michael Potter of Albany, and Shay Parejko and her husband, Ryan Parejko of McDonough, formerly of Albany; three great-grandchildren, Kristopher and Laiken Parejko, both of McDonough, and Brandon Potter of Oakfield; 27 nieces and nephews; 46 great-nieces and nephews.

SYLVESTER - Aricie Glenn Johnson, 86, of 309 Carter Rd., Sylvester, died Thursday, January 25, 2007, at her residence.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at St. John Pentecostal Freewill Church in Poulan with interment in Mt. Zion Baptist Church cemetery in Poulan. The Rev. Dexter Thurmond will officiate.
Mr. Johnson was born November 23, 1920, in Worth County. She was educated in the Worth County Public School System. Mrs. Johnson was a seamstress. Early in life, she was a member of St. John AME Church in Poulan. Later in life, she was a member of Greater Emmanuel Baptist Church in New York City, NY, there she served as a member of the usher board and the choir.
Survivors include a nephew she took as her son, Willie C. Munford of Sylvester; two sisters, Narcissus Munford and Beatrice Glenn, both of Sylvester; two goddaughters, Keyonya Glenn Munford and Latecia Cheevers, both of Sylvester.

SYLVESTER - Roy Marshall, 53, of 411 W. Pope St., Sylvester, died Tuesday, January 30, 2007, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.

Born March 16, 1953, in Dougherty County, Mr. Marshall was educated in the Worth County Public School System. He was a carpenter.

SYLVESTER - Ruth Paul McCrary, 94, of 301 Quail Rise, Sylvester, died Thursday, February 1, 2007, at her residence.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Isabella Baptist Church with interment in Isabella Cemetery. The Rev. A.R. Wilbourn will officiate.
Born May 17, 1912, in Worth County, to William Gordon Paul and Annie Estelle Bozeman Paul, Mrs. McCrary had lived in Worth County most of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of D.A.R. and U.D.C. She was also a member of Isabella Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was a member of the W.G. Paul Sunday School Class and also had 43 years perfect attendance in Sunday School. She was very active in the WMU becoming the Vice-President in the State Level in the Ga. Division. She was the widow of Elmer J. McCrary, who preceded her in death June 13, 1999.
Survivors include her daughter, Paula Avis M. Patterson (Tom) of Sylvester; son, Royce McCrary (Debbie) of Sylvester; six grandchildren, Brad Patterson, Tim Patterson, Les McCrary, Elliott McCrary, Laura Brotherton and Keri McCrary; two great- grandchildren, Alfie Brotherton and Abigail Patterson.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Banks Funeral Home.
