The funeral service of Gary Barfield, 61, of 1524 Webb Street, Albany, who died Thursday November 17, 2005, at his residence, will be conducted Monday at 2:00 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Keith Gaines will officiate. Interment will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery.
A native of Dougherty County, GA, Mr. Barfield had resided in Albany most of his life. Mr. Barfield graduated from Florida State University and served three tours of duty in Vietnam with the Air Force. After obtaining an advanced degree in Sacramento, CA., he returned to Albany and spent over twenty years providing counseling in substance abuse. Mr. Barfield was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel Luther Barfield and Mary Aline Davis, a step-father, William F. Gilbert, and a brother, Jack Barfield.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Rob and Christina Barfield of Tallahassee, FL, a grandson, Alex Daniel Barfield, two brothers, Alan Barfield of Albany and Ronald Gilbert of West Palm Beach, FL. and numerous relatives.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at 1524 Webb Street.
The funeral service of Martha Nell Parker, 77, of 699 Englewood Drive, Abbeville, Al, who died Tuesday, June 29, 2004, at Flowers Hospital in Dothan, Al., will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Fort Gaines, Ga. Rev. Walter Flint will officiate. The graveside interment service will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. in Buck Creek Methodist Church Cemetery in Sylvania, Ga. Rev. Karen Zeigler will officiate.
A native of Screven County, Ga., Mrs. Parker was raised and spent most of life in Sylvania, Ga. She graduated salutatorian from Screven County High School in 1944 and attended Georgia Teachers College. She was both secretary for the Screven County High School for twenty-five years and retired after forty-five years as bookkeeper for Pickney Auto Supply. Mrs. Parker was a Member of First Presbyterian Church of Fort Gaines. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Griner, a daughter, Lorraine Griner and a son, Charles Griner
Survivors include her husband, Delcom (B0) Hobson Parker, Sr. of Abbeville, Al, a daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Jimmy Phillips of Dawson, a brother, Edsel Wells of Sylvania, Ga, a daughter-in-law, Pam Griner of Newnan, Ga, two grandchildren, Braden Griner and Parker Griner both of Newnan, three step-grandchildren, Del Parker, Hollis Parker and Brooke Hacker all of Sylvania, Ga, and a step-son and his wife, Hobson and Terri Parker of Sylvania.
The funeral service of O. D. Simpson, 83, of 1300 S. Mock Road, Albany, who died Thursday at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, will be conducted Saturday at 3:00 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Roy Cook will officiate. Interment will follow in Big Ochlocknee Baptist Church Cemetery in Coolidge, GA.
A native of Thomas County, GA., Mr. Simpson had resided in Albany most of his life. He was a general contractor and of the Presbyterian Faith. Mr. Simpson was a Mason and a Shriner, a member of The Loyal Order of the Moose and Benevolent Protective Order of the Elks. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Ruffin Simpson and Mary Lois Lassiter Tomlinson and a son, Kenneth Simpson, sisters, Velma Simpson, Nadine Bridges and Sarah Bedell, a brother, Gerald Simpson.
Survivors include two daughters, Connie Visco of Woodstock, GA, and Kimberly Simpson of Crestview, FL, two sisters, Anita Lovelady of Oxford, MS and Patricia Simpson of Macon, GA, a brother, Rondell Simpson of Granbury, TX, and five grandchildren.

The funeral service of George Dennis Allen, Jr., 33, of 115 Coney Lake Rd. Leesburg, who died Monday, January 3, 2005, will be conducted Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Leesburg Cemetery. Rev. Bobby Moye will officiate.
A native of Albany, Mr. Allen had resided in Leesburg for a number of years, moving from Dougherty County. Mr. Allen was a graduate of Albany High School, was a Baptist and was a dog trainer with Coney Lake Plantation
Survivors include his mother, Miriam Moore Allen of Milwaulkee, WI., his father, George Dennis Allen, Sr., of Coccoa Beach, Fl., a son, Edward Carroll Hamon of Albany, his paternal grandmother, Nora Allen of Albany, an uncle, Don Moore of Albany, two aunts, Earnestine Badman of Manchester, Tn. and Carol Ranew of Sylvester, a great-uncle, George Dennis Moreland, Jr., a great-aunt, Ida Murphy of Albany and a second cousin, George Dennis (Bubba) Moreland, III of Leesburg.

A native of Trion, GA., Mr. Gresham had resided in Albany since 1957. He was a retired sports equipment salesman, a member of Loyal Order of the Moose #1285, an honorary member of American Legion Post #30 and coached the American Legion Post #30 baseball teams. Mr. Gresham was of the Baptist faith and an US Army Veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Gresham of Albany, his mother, Hazel Woods Gresham of Albany, a daughter and her husband, Darlene and Mack Strickland of Orange Park, FL, a son and his wife, Bobby and Susan Gresham, Jr. of Spotsylvania, VA, a brother and his wife, Jackie and Sheila Gresham of Lecanto, FL, a sister and her husband, Linda and Buddy Knight of Ashford, AL, grandson and wife, Eric and Tricia Strickland of Middleburg, FL, and two great-grandaughters, Ilyana and Rebecca Strickland.

A native of Cook County, GA, Miss Register had resided in Albany since 1953 moving here from Cook County. Miss Register was employed with Belk Department Stores for eleven years and was best known for her position as secretary for The Mallary Baptist Association, which she held for twelve years until her retirement in 2004. She was a member of Byne Memorial Baptist Church, the Open Door Sunday School Class and A.L.D.O.N. Miss Register was preceded in death by her step-mother, Mae Futch Register.
Survivors include her uncle, Thomas Vickers of Hahira, aunt and uncle, Venice and L. J. Roberts of Albany, aunt, Jo Young of Florida, uncle, Dutch Braddock of Jacksonville, FL, and numerous cousins. Her extended family includes Willie and Lucy Glow of Leesburg, Larry, Leah, Brandon and David Glow of Albany, Mark, Debbie and Taylor Glow of Leesburg, Teresa and Ralph Grubbs, Austin Grubb and Rev. The memorial service of Ira “Mac” McClain, 49, of Albany, who died Saturday, November 19, 2005 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, will be conducted Tuesday, November 22, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. The Rev. Kent Miller will officiate.
A native of Dougherty County, Mr. McClain had resided in Albany all of his life. He was employed by The Department of family and children services as a case worker. He was an avid hunter, golfer and amateur astronomer. He attended Christ United Methodist Church with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Sheila McClain of Albany. Two sons Joshua and Jacob McClain both of Albany. A daughter, Sarah McClain of Albany. His mother, Marguerite McClain of Tampa, FL. A sister Allison and her husband, Lt. Col. Robert E.Hutchens, of Tampa, FL, one niece, Keri Hutchens and one nephew Bo Hutchens both of Tampa, FL.

On Sunday, January 15, 2006, one more brave warrior fell victim to the dreaded monster known as Melanoma, and the gates of Heaven opened wide to welcome him home.
Michael Joseph Heldenberg, 37, fought with all his might for the past 10 months, but even with the finest surgeons at both John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD and Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, GA, the battle was lost.
Mike leaves two large families who both mourn his loss, yet rejoice in having been blessed with his presence. He is survived by his fiancee, Paula Lee Andrese, the love of his life and his soul mate, whom he waited a lifetime of Maryland, his parents, Don and Marta Heldenberg of Parrott, eight brothers and sisters. They are Laurie A. Eagan of North Beach, MD, Becky Burke of Tallahassee, FL, Mary Smith (Don) of Flagler Beach, Fl, Tom Heldenberg (Heather) of Leesburg, Tim Heldenberg, Terry Heldenberg (Angie) and Alice Heldenberg all of Albany and William Heldenberg of Tallahahassee, Fl. Five nieces, Brandi Heldenberg, Rachael and Julia Smith, Andrea Heldenberg, Karen Eagan, seven nephews, Matt Burke, Marty and Tom Eagan, Derrick and Jacob Heldenberg, John Heldenberg and Chandler Heldenberg, one great niece, Hannah Welch. Surviving aunts and uncles are: John (Georgetta) Glass,Robert (Marilyn) Glass and Richard (Jeanne) Glass all of Fairfield, Iowa, Steven Glass and Barbara (Jim) Dray all of Aurora, IL, Mary Darr (Bob) of Milton, Iowa and Ginny Gengler (Jim) of Birmingham, Iowa.
Mike was born January 31, 1968 in Aurora , Illinois but grew up and attended school in Albany. In 1988 mike relocated to Maryland to be near his sisters and subsequently began touching and impacting the lives of a new family through the fellowship of sharing and caring. He will be greatly missed by all who were blessed by having known him.
Michael chose to be cremated with a Memorial Service planned at 6:00 pm Thursday, January 19, 2006 at Mathews Funeral Home. Sandra K. Meadows will officiate.
A second Memorial Service will be held in Maryland at a later date. After which Michael’s biker family will take him for his final ride, spreading his ashes in his favorite blessed place of the world.

The private funeral service of Willard Wesley Breckenridge, 91, of 305 Eagle Pond Road, Leesburg, who died Monday, June 28, 2004, will be held Wednesday, June 30, at 11:00 a.m. at Mathews Funeral Home.
A native of Devils Lake, ND, Mr. Breckenridge had lived in the Albany area since 1968 moving here from Miami, FL. He was of the Catholic faith and was a member of the Southwest Georgia Sportsman Club. Mr. Breckenridge was a retired self-employed mechanic and was formerly employed with Jack Fore Oil Company and also sold uniforms with WPH Enterprises.
Survivors include his wife, Gloria Breckenridge of Leesburg, two sons and their wives, Billy and Nancy Breckenridge of Cheyenne, WY, and Wesley and Norma Sue Breckenridge of Albany, five daughters, Sandy Breckenridge of Leesburg, Linda Kappert and her husband, Gerrit of Sylvester, Candy Mann of Leesburg, Sharon Hembree and her husband, Billy of Baconton, and Wendy Breckenridge of Leesburg, one sister, Gladys Welch of McHenry, IL, one brother, Chauncey Breckenridge of St. Paul, MN, eight great-grandchildren and their spouses, Jeannie and Keith Provancha, Robin and Andy Wimberly, Lori and Ricky Mears, Dianna and Phil Zeh, James Hall, Melissa and Greg Myers, Lauren Breckenridge and Alex Breckenridge, nine great-grandchildren and two foster sons, Jim Brecht of Bonauga, TN, and Mike Tucker of Tallahassee, FL.

A native of Calhoun County, Ga., Mr. Cox had resided in Albany for the past 35 years moving from Bainbridge, Ga.. He attended Bible Baptist Church.
Survivors include his caregiver, best friend and sister-in-law, Lucille Gartman of Albany, two nieces, Carol Rice of Albany and Wanda Rogers of Ozark, Al., a nephew, Gerald Powell of Albany. He was a special father to his great nieces and nephew, Kerri Alley, Terri Alley, Wendi Alley, Cindy Rice and Shawn Alley and a large number of Nieces and nephews.
The funeral service of Robert Harrison Creel, of 2040 W. Broad Avenue, Albany, who died Tuesday, January 4, 2005, at his residence, will be conducted Friday at 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Albany. Rev. Mike McAfee will officiate. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery.
A native of Dougherty County, GA, Mr. Creel had resided in Albany all of his life. He was an Account Executive with American Fidelity Life Assurance Company and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Albany. Mr. Creel was a 1971 graduate of Albany High School and was a former member of The Artesian City Sertoma Club, The Civitan Club and coached Dixie League Baseball for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and loved his family.
Survivors include a son and daughter, Tyler B. Creel and Jordan M. Creel, both of Albany and the mother of his children, Debbie Kromminga of Texarkana, TX.
