ALBANY - Gilbert Glover Simmons Jr., 36, of Jacksonville, FL, formerly of Albany, died Monday, December 30, 2002. His family will receive friends at Kimbrell-Stern Thursday from 6 p.m.- 7:30 p.m. His remains were cremated.
A native of Albany, Gil had lived in Jacksonville 10 years. He attended schools in Albany and graduated from Deerfield Windsor School. He attended Valdosta State University. Gill was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert G. Simmons and Kitty Royal Simmons.
Survivors include his wife, Kelly Simmons of Jacksonville, FL; a brother, Adam Simmons of Albany; a sister, Rolanda S. Miller and her husband Dennis of Vero Beach, FL; and a nephew, Dalton Miller.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Luke Baptist Church in Ashburn with interment in Westview Memorial Cemetery. The Rev. James King will officiate.
A native of Jones County, Mr. Smith was born December 25, 1907. Mr. Smith was a lawn maintenance groundskeeper and was a member of St. Luke Baptist Church in Ashburn and served on the deacon board.
Survivors include a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

PELHAM - Addie Laura Murphy Culpepper, 99, of 1001 Harmony Rd., Meigs, died Tuesday, December 31, 2002, at Pelham Parkway Nursing Home.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Harmony Baptist Church with interment in Harmony Cemetery. The Rev. Jessie Alligood will officiate.
A native of Colquitt County, Mrs. Culpepper was born September 29, 1903. Her parents were the late Jimmie Russ Murphy and Robert Murphy. She was the widow of J.L. Culpepper. Mrs. Culpepper was a former store keeper, home care provider and homemaker. She was preceded in death by two sons, Joel Culpepper and D.R. "Bo" Culpepper; a grandson, Jim Culpepper; two sisters, Fonnie Johnson and Onie Wheeler; and two brothers, Roy Murphy and Paul Murphy.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Frances and Lamar "Buddy" Billings of Damascus; son and daughter-in-law, James Robert and Gloria Culpepper of Harmony; daughter and son-in-law, Lynette and Charles Crawford of Tallahassee, FL; daughter-in-law, Sara Culpepper of Harmony; 13 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild; two sisters, Cornelia Curry and Mary Rogers, both of Moultrie.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, January 3, 2003, at ATOC African Methodist Episcopal Church, 368 6th Avenue NW, Dawson, GA. The Rev. E.X. King, Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Sardis Cemetery in Dawson, GA.
Lora attended the public schools of Terrell County, GA. At an early age, she joined ATOC African Methodist Episcopal Church and served on many auxiliary until her health failed. She was a homemaker.
She leaves to cherish her memories; a loving son, Carl Weston (Odell) of Jacksonville, FL; six grandchildren, Rosalind Miller, Sandra Weston, Ronnie Weston, Carleon Wiggins, Tony Weston and Lisa Weston, all of Jacksonville, FL; 19 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren, all of Jacksonville, FL; a cousin, Virginia Blackwell (Charlie, Sr.) and children and their family and a host of friends. A special friend, Theo Evans and wife, Lillie who was always there when needed with a smile on their faces, all of Dawson, GA.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 3, 2003, Bethel A.M.E. Church, with burial in Floral Memory Garden Cemetery. The Rev. Ernest Davis Jr. officiating.
Born January 11, 1916 in Lowndes County, AL, Mr. Chambers was a retired tractor mechanic. He was a member of Bethel A.M.E. Church, where he was a member of the usher board, a member of the trustee board; and also a Boy Scout leader. He attended Lowndes County, AL, public schools.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Holloway of Orange Village, OH, and Doris Simmons of Pensacola, FL; and seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
The remains of Mr. Chambers will lie-in state at the church on Friday morning from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour.

ANCHORAGE, AK - Anchorage resident Estelle Hall Wrobel, 69, died Friday, December 27, 2002, at Elmendorf Hospital after a battle with cancer.
Mrs. Wrobel was born December 13, 1933, in Worth County, GA, to the late Shelby and Ethel Hall. She graduated from Sylvester High School in 1951.
Mrs. Wrobel came to Anchorage in May 1967.
She was employed as the dining room supervisor at the NCO Club at Elmendorf Air Force Base, retiring from their in 1985.
Mrs. Wrobel also enjoyed fishing, sewing and painting.
She is survived by her husband, Albert Wrobel of Anchorage; a daughter, Shari L. Hunter of Indonesia; sons, William R. Land of Cary, NC, Jack Wrobel of Anchorage and Donald Wrobel of Buford, GA; eight grandchildren, one great-granddaughter; a sister, Thelma Winters of Sylvester; and a brother, Marvin Hall of Sylvester.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1057 W. Fireweed Lane, Anchorage, AK 99508.
Private interment will be at Fort Richardson National Cemetery.
