MOULTRIE - Oscar Clayton, 87, of 618 College St., Doerun, died Tuesday, December 31, 2002.
Funeral services will be held Friday, 2 p.m. at Liberty Hill Baptist Church, with burial in the church Cemetery, in Worth County. The Revs. Douglas Hatcher and Preston Wilson will officiate.
Pallbearers are the following: Scott Clayton, Adam Clayton, Ben Clayton, Clint Nobles, Alan Braswell, Todd Johnson and Brent Braswell.
Born on October 14, 1915 in Tift County, GA, Mr. Clayton was the son of the late Mary Jane Phelps and Marion Clayton. He was retired from the Marine Corp Logistics Base in the Warehousing Department. He was a member of the American Legion Doerun Post and served in the Army during the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Campaign. He was the widower of Gertrude Evelyn Howell Clayton.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, James M. Clayton and Bonnie of Moultrie; two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda Davidson and Earl of Albany and Joy Meadows and Chris of Doerun; two sisters, Myrtle Cox Branch of Lenox and Georgia Aultman of Sylvester; and six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held today (Thursday) from 7 p.m.-8:30 p.m. at Cobb Funeral Chapel.

AMERICUS - Kathryn G. Riccardi, 82, of 114 Sullivan Drive, (Perfect Care), Americus, died at Sumter Regional Hospital, Monday, December 30, 2002. H.M. Patterson Funeral Home in Sandy Springs is in charge of funeral services, which will be held at All Saints Catholic Church in Dunwoody at 11 a.m. Friday. Interment at Arlington Cemetery in Sandy Springs will follow immediately after the church service. A visitation will be held at Patterson Funeral Home today (Thursday) from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. The Americus family will receive friends at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Louis Riccardi, 114 Country Lane Road, Americus.
Kathryn (Kay) was the wife of the late Louis S. Riccardi M.D. She was born on April 29, 1920, and was the daughter of the late Bernard W. Foley and Mildred Conner Foley. Kay was a native of Atlanta until her move to Americus in May 1999. She was a member of All Saints Catholic Church.
Kay is survived by two sons and a daughter, Dr. Victor L. Riccardi and his wife, Beverly of Atlanta, Dr. Louis A. Riccardi and his wife, Candy of Americus and Nancy DeLany and her husband, Joe of Atlanta; her grandchildren include: Ashley Hatcher and her husband, Neill of Columbus, Randi Wesley and her husband, Mark of Atlanta, Haley Wilkinson and her husband, Brian of Columbus, Kara Clark and her husband, Tommy of Albany, Ric Riccardi of Atlanta, and Alex Riccardi of Americus; and four great-grandchildren.

ALBANY - The funeral service of Jean Elizabeth Mitchell Harrell, 50, of 144 Coston Road, who died Wednesday, January 1, 2003, will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mathews Funeral Home. The Rev. Bobby Moye will officiate. Interment will follow in Thundering Springs Cemetery.
A native of Dougherty County, GA, she had resided in the Albany and Lee County area all of her life. She was a member of the Ladies of the Moose, a life member of the VFW Post #2785 Ladies Auxiliary, and employed with Country Jacks. She was Baptist by faith.
Survivors include her son, Jim Thompson of Leesburg, GA; daughter, Tracy Rossow of Waldorf, Maryland; brother, Jack H. (Country Jack) Mitchell of Leesburg, GA; and a granddaughter, Alora Thompson of Waldorf, Maryland.

ALBANY - Carolyn Laverne Prince Jackson, 43, of 608 Arrowhead Lane died Wednesday, January 1, 2003, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be at noon Saturday at McAfee Grove Baptist Church in Leesburg with interment in Riverside Cemetery. The Rev. Dr. Robert Morgan, pastor, and the Rev. Jessie Murray will officiate.
A native of Lee County, Mrs. Jackson was a dietitian. She was a 1977 graduate of Lee County High School and also a graduate of Albany Technical College. She was a member of McAfee Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Zenovia Cole of Albany; two sons, Curtis Jackson Jr. and Octerious Jackson, both of Albany; her parents, Jimmie Prince and Addie B. ALBANY - The Rev. James Lee Polite Sr., 62, of 2606 Yorktown Avenue died Tuesday, December 31, 2002, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Albany with interment in Antioch Baptist Church cemetery. The Rev. Dr. Daniel Simmons, pastor, and the Rev. Donnie Ray Hall will officiate.
A native of Worth County, the Rev. Polite was pastor of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Albany and Friendship Baptist Church in Chula. He was also a truck driver for Concrete Enterprises Inc. of Albany. He was a member of New Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Acree. He was a former member of the Masonic Lodge, former president of the YMPC and chairman of the Blue Springs Missionary Baptist Union Meeting. He attended Worth County public schools.
Survivors include his wife, Angela Jackson-Polite of Albany; one daughter, Dorothy Wright of Albany; four sons, James Polite Jr. of Clearwater, Fla., Anthony W. Polite and Kelvin C. Polite, both of Albany, and Anthony G. Clark of Atlanta; one sister, Anna Frazier-McCray of Albany; three brothers, the Rev. Dr. Raymond Polite and Prince Polite, both of Albany, and Linton Polite of South Bend, Ind.; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The remains of the Rev. Polite will lie-in-state at the church Saturday morning from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour.

ALBANY - Carl Jackson Putnal, 66, of Fort Gaines, GA, died Thursday, January 2, 2003, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. His remains have been cremated.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Fort Gaines Baptist Church and a second service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at Airline Baptist Church in Mayo, FL. The Rev. Jeff Hines, the Rev. Caron Harn, and the Rev. Austin Kelly will officiate.
Mr. Putnal was a native of Mayo, FL, and had lived in Fort Gaines for the last eight years where he was a member and deacon at Fort Gaines Baptist Church. He was the owner and operator of Putnal's Pine Straw. He retired from Buckeye Paper Mill in Perry, FL, and was a retired farmer.
He is survived by his wife, Andrey Putnal of Fort Gaines, GA; son, Mark L. Putnal and his wife Karen of Tallahassee, FL; two daughters, Tammy Putnal Roberts and her husband Mike of Mayo, FL and Shona Putnal Canup of Tallahassee, FL; brothers, Stafford Putnal of Macon, GA and Joedy Putnal of Albany; sisters, Tamsey Jackson of Mayo, FL, Ruth Kerby of Tampa, FL, Pansy Dendy of Columbus, GA, Lillie Mae Wadsworth of Ft. Gaines and Louise Bell of Lilburn, GA; grandchildren, Olivia Putnal, Stephen Putnal, Dakota Putnal, Damien Walker, Edward Canup Jr., Kaylee Roberts and Kristyn Roberts; 33 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Zack Putnal, J.W. Putnal, Homer T. Putnal and Harry Putnal.
The family will receive friends following the funeral services in Ft. Gaines, GA, and Mayo, FL.
