DAWSON - Miss Mary Rilla Belle Lee of Bronwood, formerly of Dawson, died Thursday, January 9, 2003, at Seymour Southern Comforts Retirement Home. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. today at the graveside in Cedar Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Jim Cowart officiating.
Miss Lee was born September 12, 1917, in Terrell County, daughter of the late Robert Virgil Lee and Claudia Belle Durham Lee. She was a lifelong resident of Terrell County and was active in the Terrell Co. Home Demonstration Club, the Graves Community Club, Terrell Co. Ceramic Club, a 4-H Club volunteer and a Girl Scout Leader. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Dawson.
She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers, Cecil Lee, Artie Lee, Robert Lee and Raymond Lee.
Survivors include two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Raymond (Merle) Lee and Mrs. Robert (Pearl) Lee of Dawson; two nieces and three nephews, Mrs. Cullen Weeks (Mary Edith Lee) of Wicksburg, AL, Raymond Lee Jr. of Birmingham, AL, Mrs. Jimmy Cowart (Lynette Lee) of Dawson, Eddie Lee of Bluffton and Dr. Dewey Lee of Tifton; 13 great-nieces and great-nephews, Toni Weeks Floyd of Savannah, Bill Weeks of St. Augustine, FL, Deris Weeks of Wicksburg, AL, the Rev. Jim Cowart of Warner Robins, Dr. Michael Lee of Hartwell, Michele Lee Stumpe of Atlanta, Brad Cowart of Bronwood, Jason Lee of Tifton, Chester Lee of Bluffton, Stephanie Lee of Tifton, Weston Lee of Bluffton and Eric Lee of Tifton and a number of great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
Her request was for no flowers or donations, and if anyone desired to remember or honor her, she would like for them to just do something niece for somebody else.
The family will be at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Cowart, 579 Frances Dr., S.W., Dawson.

FORSYTHE - Estelle Stuart Allen, 86, died Friday, January 10, 2003. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. today (Sunday) at Monroe Memorial Gardens with the Rev. John Pennington officiating.
Mrs. Allen was born in Monroe County. She was the widow of Albert Franklin Allen and the daughter of the late William Stuart and Pearl Kay Hobbs Stuart. Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by a son, Franklin Allen. She was a homemaker and retired from the William Carter Company. Mrs. Allen was a member of the First Baptist Church in Forsyth.
Mrs. Allen is survived by a son, William Wiley Allen of Albany; daughter-in-law, Marian Smith Allen of Forsyth; and five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

ALBANY - West Bell Barbary St., 66, of 3323 Sweetbrier Rd., died Tuesday, January 7, 2003 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Monday, 2 p.m. at Second Mount Zion Baptist Church, with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. Dr. Theodus Drake officiating.
Born June 30, 1936 in Calhoun County, Mr. Barbary was a diesel mechanic with Burlington Motor Company and a member of Second Mount Zion Baptist Church. He attended Calhoun County Public Schools.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Barnes-Barbary of Albany; his mother, Mary Ingram-Barbary of Albany; three sons, West Bell Barbary Jr., Ricardo Barbary and Micheal Barbary, all of Albany; three daughters, Rita Whitaker of Albany, Gwen Rhenwrick of Atlanta and Michelle Medlock of West Palm Beach, FL; four sisters, Neomia Hardge of Edison, Mary Louise Mims and Emma Jean Barbary, both of Albany, and Ozzie Crawford of Atlanta; three brothers, Homer W. Barbary Sr. of Columbus, OH, Ambus Barbary Jr. of Kokomo, IN, and Charlie L. Barbary of Lawrenceville; and 11 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
The remains of Mr. Barbary will lie-in-state at the church on Monday evening from 1 p.m. until the funeral hour.

ALBANY - The memorial service for John Travis Jenkins, 87, of Rena Lara, MS, who died Tuesday, January 7, 2003, was conducted Friday at 2 p.m. Dr. Jeff Holland and Francis Thorton officiated.
A native of Fayette, AL, Mr. Jenkins was one of nine children born to farmer, John Henry Jenkins and wife, Ollie Cockrell Jenkins and he had resided in Rena Lara since 1937, where she he farmed in the Delta of Mississippi, and was a pioneer in the pecan industry.
Mr. Jenkins was past president of the Mississippi Pecan Growers Association and was director and past president of the Southeastern Pecan Growers Association. In this capacity he spent time in Albany, GA. (The Pecan City of the World) when Albany hosted the Pecan Festival. He had many business friends in the Albany area. He was honored in the Louisiana Pecan Growers Hall of Fame. Mr. Jenkins was honored as outstanding industry growers in the Alabama Pecan Growers Association and cultivated the Jenkins Pecan Variety released jointly by Auburn and Mississippi State Universities.
At the time of his death, he was a member of Oakhurst Baptist Church in Clarksdale, MS, where he attended Fellowship Bible Class.
In addition to his wife, Edith (Pete) Jenkins, survivors include a son, Kenneth Jenkins and his wife, Mary of Clarksdale; two sisters, Hazel Hogue of Cleveland, MS, and Martha Dacus of Metairie, LA; four brothers, Hershel Jenkins and his wife, Margaret of Oxford, MS, Gaynus Jenkins and his wife Bonnie of Fayette, AL, Charles L. Jenkins and his wife, Laurie of Albany, GA, Dennis Jenkins and his wife, Eloise of Alligator, MS; a sister-in-law, Opal Jenkins of Helena, ARK; three grandchildren, Lamar Jenkins and Perry Jenkins, both of Alligator and Travis Jenkins of Peachtree City, GA; and five great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for Mission through Oakhurst Baptist Church in Clarksdale, MS. National Funeral Home, Clarksdale, MS, was in charge of arrangements.

ALBANY - Stella Taylor Mock, 82, of Albany, died Friday, January 10, 2003 at her residence.
The funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, at St. Teresa's Catholic Church with interment in Crown Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Finbarr Stanton will officiate.
Mrs. Mock was the widow of James William Mock Jr. of Albany and Berlie Hawkins Taylor of Tifton. She and three other parishioners were in instrumental in start a building fund for a permanent residence for the missionary church, Our Divine Savior Catholic Church in Tifton and she was a member of St. Teresa's Catholic Church in Albany.
Survivors include two daughters, Berline Taylor Harrison of Albany and Mary Jean Taylor Eaves and her husband, Walter E. Eaves of Elberton; six grandchildren, Beth Harrison, Cathy Harrison, Gina Carter, Edward Eaves, Robert Eaves and Eric Eaves; two great-grandchildren, Taylor Carter and Walt Eaves; four stepdaughters, Madeline Brewton, Caroline Mallard, Helen Smith and Peggy Evans; four stepsons, William Mock III, Jerry Mock, Paul Mock and Mike Mock; and 16 step-grandchildren and 13 step-great-grandchildren.
A rosary service will be held at Kimbrell-Stern, 6 p.m. today (Sunday) with visitation following until 7:30 p.m.

Georgia Brendel Stubbs
ALBANY - Georgia Brendel Stubbs, 90, of Albany, died Saturday, January 11, 2003 at her residence following a long illness.
Funeral services will be held Monday, 2 p.m. at Kimbrell-Stern, with interment at Crown Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Thomas Downs will officiate.
A native of Augusta, GA, she was born on October 21, 1912. She graduated from High School in Douglas, GA, and from the University of Hospital School of Nursing in Augusta, GA. She also received her BSN from Peabody College.
Mrs. Stubbs served as a registered nurse in the Navy during World War II. She was a member of the Century and the Leadership Clubs of the U.S. Naval Academy. Mrs. Stubbs retired from the Georgia State Health Department in Albany where she was in charge of 10 counties. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church and the Mary Martha Circle, the Garden Club, the Area Arts Council and did volunteer work for many years. She was always a very generous, caring and loving person.
Mrs. Stubbs was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Stubbs, a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and is survived by a sister, Pearl Dorminy of Bedford, TX, many nieces and nephews and Martha Knight who lovingly cared for her for more than 10 years.
The family will receive friends at Kimbrell-Stern, Monday, from 1 p.m.-2 p.m.

A graveside funeral service will be held today (Sunday) 4:30 p.m. in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Wilcox County.
Born August 16, 1914 in Wilcox County, Miss Ball the daughter of the late Sarah Ellen Gordon Ball and William Alfred Ball. Miss Ball lived in Ben Hill and Wilcox Counties most of her life and was a former resident of Waycross, GA, and Tampa, FL, where she was retired as a bookkeeper at Hava Tampa Cigar Company. She was a former employee of Fitzgerald Mills. She was a member of Callie Garbutt Baptist Church.
Survivors include a brother, Thomas Jordan Ball of Fitzgerald; and numerous nieces and nephews.

CUTHBERT - Trudye Lee Brannon Garrett was called home to continue her journey of life on Saturday, January 4, 2003.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Payne Chapel AME Church in Cuthbert. The Rev. Thomas D. Ferguson, pastor will officiate.
Mrs. Garrett was born on November 1, 1915, in Cuthbert to the late Dave and Estelle Brannon. She was the wife of the late Henry C. Garrett, the grandmother of the late Veronica Renee Thompson and sister of the late Doris R. Pullins.
In her early childhood, she joined Payne Chapel AME Church where she served faithfully in all aspects of church life. As a devoted member she sang in the choir, served on the Pastor's Aide Board, class leader of #1, and was a steward.
Mrs. Garrett completed elementary and high school at Randolph County Schools. She received her BS degree in home economics from Savannah State College in Savannah. She also did graduate work at Cornell University, Ithaca, NY, and Florida A&M University, Tallahassee, Florida. Her professional career included teaching home economics two years at Sasser Junior High, in Sasser, and five years at Carver High School in Douglas. The remainder of her dedicated teaching career was a 29 year period at Randolph County High School, Cuthbert. She received numerous recognitions and awards for outstanding service to Vocational Home Economics Education.
The community was an important part of her active life. She served on many committees and boards within the community of Cuthbert. She was a founding member of the Civican Club and the Randolph/Clay Retired Educators Association. She held every office in both of these organizations. She served as member of the Randolph County Library Committee for the development of the new library. She also served as the immediate past Historian of the Retired Educators Association for Randolph County.
She leaves to cherish her memory, a devoted and loving daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Earl Thompson; grandson, Earl M. Thompson Jr.; two great-grandchildren, Marissa and Maurice Thompson, all of Dayton, Ohio. A loving sister-in-law, Deloris Chapman and nephew, William (Buster) Adams of Columbus, Ohio. Two loyal and devoted cousins, Lucia Harris of Miami, Fla., Jeanette Davis of Brooklyn, N.Y., a host of other relatives and dear friends.
Mother Dear is not saying good bye, but is preparing a welcome for each of us to the kingdom of God.
