The funeral service of Mary Elizabeth Phillips, 66, of 820 Stocks Dairy Road, who died Sunday at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, whom we will all keep in our hearts and keep a loving memory of her beauty and grace, will be conducted Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. Mr. A. B. Stroud will officiate. Interment will follow in Leesburg Cemetery.
A native of Berrien Co., GA., Mrs. Phillips had resided in Leesburg for the past forty five years. She was retired from the Lee County School System and was of the Christian Faith. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert L. Cone, Sr., two brothers, Robert L. Cone, Jr. and John T. Cone.
Survivors include her husband, Barney Phillips, Leesburg, Ga., three sons, Mitchell (Woolie) Phillips and Ricky Phillips both of Leesburg, GA., Kenneth Phillips and his wife Wanda of Sylvester, Ga., a daughter, Karon Taylor and her husband James of Leesburg, GA., her mother, Verdie Cone, Tifton, GA., two brothers and four sisters, a sister-in-law, Susie Mae Taylor, Tifton, GA., nine grandchildren, Josh and Ali Phillips, Casie and Corey Phillips, Brandi and Rocky Phillips, Kristy, Dee Dee and Hope Taylor, six great-grandchildren, Dakoda Taylor, Jacob Hutchinson, Bryce Hayes, Emerald Day, Dalton Smith, Savannah Rowland.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home.
The family is at the residence of James and Karon Taylor, 815 Stocks Dairy Road, Leesburg, GA.

A private memorial service will be conducted for Kathy Gaines Brimberry of Albany, who died Tuesday, October 19, 2004. Rev. Stan Glass will officiate.
A native of Greenville, SC, Kathy had resided in Albany for the last twenty years moving from Atlanta, GA. She was an apartment manager and of the Christian faith.
Survivors include two sons, Mason Crosby Lewis of San Fransisco, CA, and Blake Hunter Brimberry of Albany, GA, mother and father, Peggy and Robert Short, Pensacola, FL, a sister, Karen Robinson and husband, Dan of Greensboro, NC, a brother, S. Wade Gaines and wife, Jonikka of Pensacola, FL.

The funeral service of R. E. Drinkwater, 95, of 407 Fountain Bridge Road, Morgan, who died Thursday, December 16, 2004, will be conducted Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at New Light Baptist Church in Morgan. Revs. Chuck Walker and Melvin Moody will officiate. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.
A native of and long life resident of Calhoun Co., GA., Mr. Drinkwater was a retired farmer and member of New Light Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nannie Lou Blanton Drinkwater and a grandson, Mark Drinkwater.
Survivors include a son and his wife, Charles R. and Edwina Drinkwater of Morgan, a brother, Herschel Drinkwater of Pelham, two grandchildren, Dannie Drinkwater and his wife, Shirley of Leesburg, and Mary Harpe of Sasser, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
The family will receive friends tonight (Saturday) from 6 to 8 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home.
The family is at the residence of the Charles and Edwina Drinkwater, 503 Fountain Bridge Road, Morgan, GA.

The funeral service of Lois McDowell Ranew, 74, of 2418 Whispering Pines Circle, who died Wednesday, February 2, 2005, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, will be conducted Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church. Rev. Chip Gresham will officiate. Interment will follow in Floral Memory Gardens.
A native of Early County, GA., Mrs. Ranew had resided in Albany since 1947. She was retired from AT & T and was a member of The Telephone Pioneers of America. She was a forty year member of the Willing Workers Sunday School Class and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was the widow of Richard W. Ranew.
Survivors include two daughters, Gloria Ranew Parker and her husband, Chuck, and Gail Ranew Crockett and her husband, Larry, all of Albany, two sons, Michael Ranew and his wife, Leslie of Waycross and Gary Ranew and his wife, Debbie of Lawrenceville, GA, six grandchildren, Megan Parker of Valdosta, Erin Parker, Lindsey Crockett Poole and her husband, Keith, all of Albany, Corey Ranew of Waycross, Steven Ranew and Amanda Ranew, both of Lawrenceville and one great-grandchild, Daysan Ranew of Lawrenceville, GA.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home.

The funeral service of Thomas R. (Tom) Wagner, 71, of Albany, who died, April 27, 2005, will be conducted Saturday, April 30, 2005, at Mathews Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Jerry Willis will officiate. Interment will follow in Floral Memory Gardens with full military honors.
A native of Utica, NY, Mr. Wagner had resided in Albany for the past thirty five years. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and retired from the Navy. He was a retired Deputy Sheriff with the Dougherty County Sheriffs Deptartment. His hobbies included golf, fishing and hunting and he was a member of the East Albany Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a son, Little Tommy Wagner.
Survivors include two sons and their wives, Thomas Allen and Kelly Wagner of Buffalo, NY, and John David and Michelle Wagner of Syracuse, NY, two daughters and their husbands, Brenda S. and Ronald Kuhn of Tangerine, FL and Gail and Paul Johnson of East Ridge, TN, a brother and his wife, Fritz and Jeannette Wagner of Syracuse, NY, a sister, Gwenie Hurn of Syracuse, NY, eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends Friday from 7 - 9 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home.

The funeral service of Joe K. Bailey, Jr., 63, of 5404 Paulk Dr., who died Sunday July 17, 2005 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, will be conducted Tuesday July 19, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Leesburg Cemetery.
A native of Dooly Co., GA., Mr. Bailey had resided in Albany for the past forty three years moving here from Cordele. He was a retired route manager from Highland Express Shuttle Co., an avid Nascar fan and a member of the Church of God.
Survivors include his wife, Cecelia Lofton Bailey, Albany, GA., two daughters, Latrelle Bailey Dayhuff, Leesburg, GA and Rosalyn Jordan Horne, Lee Co., GA., a brother, Larry Bailey, Sylvester, Ga., eight grandchildren, Robbie Horne, Elizabeth White, Randy Horne, Jessica Dayhuff, Charlie Dayhuff, Chase Horne, Reid Horne, Bailey Dayhuff.
The family will be at the residence of Mrs. Vivian Lofton and Greg and Rosalyn Horne, 120 Greer Lane, Albany, GA.
The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home.

The funeral service of Walter Wayne Wheelhouse, 87, of Albany, formerly of Rushville, IL, who died November 29, 2005, at his residence, will be conducted Saturday at 2:00 P.M. at Shawgo Funeral Home in Astoria, IL. Entombment will follow in Astoria Memorial Mausoleum.
A native of Schuyler County, IL, Mr. Wheelhouse was born to Robert Albert and Jenny Rauch Wheelhouse in the farm home that his great-grandfather (Robert Wheelhouse) built in 1856 after returning from the California Gold Rush. He was educated in Rushville in the Schuyler County School System and attended Eureka College and graduated from the University of Illinois in 1940 with a degree in chemical engineering. Mr. Wheelhouse was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity.
During World War II, he was the supervisor of the Weldon Springs Armaments Plant outside of St. Louis, Missouri, which manufactured TNT and other chemicals for the war effort. He married Alice Louise Stephens in June 1942, and was married for twenty-five years until her death in 1968. After the war, he worked for Kimberly Clark Corporation in the research and development area and has numerous international patents to his credit. He worked in the paper industry for his twenty year career, and became plant manager in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Freemont, California, and Cedartown, Georgia for Alton Box Company.
Mr. Wheelhouse was known for turning financial troubled plants into profitable operations. He retired and in 1967 earned an MBA from Terry College at the University of Georgia where he was also a consultant and faculty member. He was Professor of Business at the University of Illinois before returning to the family farms, Anchor Farms, in 1970, where he applied innovative business and chemical engineering practices in developing a successful farm operation. Like his father, he increased the acreage to the farms. Mr. Wheelhouse is a 32 degree Scottish Rite Mason and a member of First Presbyterian Church in Rushville, IL.
He is survived by his daughter, Nancy Anson, Ed.D. and son-in-law, Richard Anson, Ph.D, of Albany, GA, and son, Walter Wheelhouse, Jr., M.D. and daughter-in-law, Kim Wheelhouse of Cookeville, TN, and grandfather of Sid, Wayne and his wife, Ginger, and Greer Chambless and Jenna and Lara Wheelhouse.

The funeral service of Gerald H. (Pete) Patterson, 51, of 146-A Keyridge Drive, Leesburg, who died Thursday, August 19, 2004, at Phoebe Putney Hospital, will be held Saturday, August 21, at 3:00 p.m. at New Life of Albany. Pastor John Wolfram and Rev. Horace Bentley will officiate. Interment will follow in Leesburg Cemetery.
A native of Dooly County, Mr. Patterson had resided in Leesburg for the past twenty five years moving there from Albany. He was a supervisor at Golden Peanut Company in Ashburn, GA and attended New Life of Albany.
Survivors include his wife, Cathy Patterson of Leesburg, three sons and their wives, Jason and Jaclyn Patterson of Pensacola, FL, Wayne and Amber Patterson and Brian and Jennifer Patterson, all of Leesburg, four sisters and their husbands, Dot and Roy Staines of Albany, Yvonne and Richard Bush of Leesburg, Joyce and Jim Arnold of Vienna, and Johnnie and Sam Akin of Cordele, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ruth and Raleigh Beach of Albany and five grandchildren, Isabella, Abigail, Austin Ty, Olivia and Brooke.
The family is at the residence of Brian and Jennifer Patterson, 128 Leighton Drive, Leesburg.

The funeral service of Louise Catchings Thompson, 95, of 1904 Palmyra Road, Albany, who died Tuesday, will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 28, 2004 at Mathews Funeral Home. The Rev. Bobby Moye will officiate. Interment will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery, Cordele, Ga.
A native of Cordele, Ga., Mrs. Thompson was a pianist in the early years for the silent movies at Woods Theater in Cordele. She was a piano accompanist for several ladies to sing at different socials, Church and radio station in Cordele. She was a sales lady for many years with Gleatons Department Store and B. C. Moore in Cordele and was a sales lady and buyer with Kirvens in Columbus, Ga.. Mrs. Thompson moved to Florida in the early 1950's where she worked with D. W. Wilson and also Annette"s Dress Shop in Tallahassee, Fl.,. During the 1980's she moved to Lake Wales, Fl. to be near her daughter and family. After her retirement on December 2, 1995, Mrs. Thompson returned to Georgia to live with her daughter, Charlotte in Albany, where she stayed for nine months. She lived at Palmyra Nursing Home until her death on October 26, 2004. She was preceded in death by her father, Seymour Catchings in 1930 and her mother, Cleve J. Catchings in 1950.
Survivors include her daughter, Charlotte Wilson of Albany, a grandson, Seaborn Goff (Anne) of Leesburg, a granddaughter, Dawne Harrell of Blakely, Ga., a great grandson, Jonathan Harrell (Dana) of Blakely, three great great grandchildren, Greyson, Ganton and Gaines Harrell and several cousins.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home.

The funeral service of Shirley Mae Albea, 63, of Albany, GA., who passed away Wednesday December 15, 2004, will be conducted Monday at 10:00 a.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. Chaplain Jim Parks will officiate. Interment will follow in Andersonville National Cemetery.
A native of Burlington, NJ, Mrs. Albea had resided in Albany since 1976 moving here from Riverton, NJ. She was a retired accountant and member of Covenant Presybterian Church. Mrs. Albea was endeared by everyone she met and was a loving mother and wife. She will be missed by all.
Survivors include her husband, Joe Albea of Albany, a daughter, Tammy Albea of Roswell, GA, a stepson, Marc Albea of HOuston, TX and a stepdaughter, Cheryle Klett of Spring Glen, NY.
The family will receive friends today (Sunday) from 3 to 4:30 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home.
