COLQUITT - Judy Elaine Roberts, 55, of Brinson, died Saturday, February 1, 2003 at her residence.
A graveside funeral service will be held today (Monday), 2:30 p.m. in New Home Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Billy Dawson officiating.
Born February 20, 1947 in Seminole County, Mrs. Roberts was office manager of John B. Sanfalepo Peanut Company and a member of Brinson Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Jimmy King of Brinson; mother, Ruby Roberts of Colquitt; two sisters, Beatrice Burke of Iron City and Betty Tucker of Donalsonville; a brother, Roger Roberts of Pompano Beach, FL; two grandchildren, Vance Bailey and Elizabeth Bailey, both of Colquitt; and a son-in-law, Mac Bailey of Colquitt; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her father, Vann Roberts and daughter, Rene' Bailey.

ALBANY - The graveside funeral service of James Luther Gauntt, 84, of 116 Thornton Drive, who died Sunday, February 2, 2003, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Langdale Cemetery in Valley, AL. The Rev. Bobby Moye will officiate.
A native of Chambers County, AL, Mr. Gauntt had resided in Albany since 1958. He was the former owner and operator of Cedars Nursery, retiring several years ago. He was a Navy veteran serving during World War II, a member of the American Legion Post #30, and a member of Westview Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Monteen Horne Gauntt of Albany; a stepson, William E. McCullough Jr. and his wife Sandi of Albany; a stepdaughter, Susan McCullough Hall Robbins and her husband Ernie of Albany; and four step grandchildren, Kristie McCullough Sadler, Kelley Elizabeth Hall Curl, William E. McCullough III, and Donald Matthew Hall.

SYLVESTER - Troyce V. White, 72, of Albany, died Sunday, February 2, 2003, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be at 3 p.m. today at Beacon Baptist Church in Albany with interment in Hillcrest Cemetery in Sylvester. The Rev. Chuck Auschwitz and Guy Ditty will officiate.
Firefighters will serve as active pallbearers.
Born May 8, 1930, in Worth County, Mr. White had lived in Albany since 1980, moving from Sylvester where he had lived most of his life. He was retired from the Sylvester Fire Department and M.C.L.B. Fire Department. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member and deacon of Beacon Baptist Church, a member of the Adult Sunday School Class and the Brotherhood. He was also a member of the Firemen's Association. He was a Master Mason with Worth Lodge 194 F.&A.M. and served as worthy patron of the Eastern Star in Worth County.
Survivors include his wife, Nadine McKenzie White of Albany; son, Tommy and (Tina) White of Albany; five sisters, Verene Bryant of Sylvester, Olene Massey of Sylvester, Yvonne Saylor of Tifton, Eudora Webb of Atlanta and Christine Young of Calhoun; two grandchildren, Kody and Kylie White.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Jessie White and Alma Goff White.

MANASSAS, Va. - Charles Frederick Childress Sr., 80, of Manassas, VA, died Saturday, February 1, 2003, at Prince William Hospital, Manassas.
Mr. Childress was a member of Manassas St. Thomas United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Methodist Men's group. Mr. Childress was a veteran of WW II serving in the U.S. Marines, participating in the battle of Okinawa. He was Vice President of First Virginia Bank and then manager of the Fairfax County Police Association Club.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, June F. Childress, his children, Nancy Childress Bowen and her husband, Thomas Gary of Burke, Charles Frederick "Fred" Childress and his wife, Deborah Ward of New Baltimore; four sisters, Virginia Lee Holmes of Eufaula, AL, Ruth Melton South of Birmingham, AL, Lillian Lamar Taylor of Cuthbert, GA, Sara Francis Roberts of Americus, GA; two brothers, Henry Eugene Childress of Covington, GA, and Billy Roland Childress of Cuthbert, GA.
Also surviving are six grandchildren, Michael Conley Bowen, Daniel Clay Childress, Adam Charles Bowen, Rebecca Elizabeth Childress, Stephanie Rose Childress and Calvin Benjamin Childress.

A native of Worth County, Mr. Cole was born October 17, 1945. He was a crane operator and was employed by Southern Concrete. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Cole's parents were the late Emma Flannigan Cole and Jesse Cole.

A native of Colquitt County, Mr. Gibson was born January 27, 1947. He had lived in Arlington for the past two years and had attended Arlington Church of God. He was the son of the late Paul Gibson and Ruby Jewell Barnes Gibson.

ALBANY - Dorothy "Dot" Free, 75, of Albany, died Monday, February 3, 2003, at Palmyra Medical Centers following an illness.
Her funeral service will be at 11 AM Thursday at Kimbrell-Stern with interment to follow in Floral Memory Gardens by the graves of her parents, Walter and Mabel Overby. The Rev. Dr. Bill Eidenire will officiate.
A native of Albany, she was a graduate of Albany High School in 1944. Dot was crowned the Cotton Ball Queen at Radium Springs Casino in 1944. She attended Asbury College in Wilmore, KY, on a music scholarship. She loved to play the piano and organ for many churches where she had lived. In 1958, she married Robert M. Pollock Sr. who preceded her in death in 1993. A daughter, Kathleen Thompson, died in 1995. She was instrumental in starting a hospice program in Van Buren County, Iowa, after the death of her husband and daughter to cancer.
She had lived in various places in the midwest including St. Louis and Kimberling City, MO, Fairfield and Keosauqua, Iowa, where she was residing at the time she married Renno J. (R.J.) Free, in 1996. She moved back to Albany following her marriage to Mr. Free. In Albany, she was a member of PEO, Southwest Georgia Exchange Club and Lamad Chapel.
Survivors include her husband, Renno J. "R.J." Free of Albany; two sons, Robert M. Pollock Jr. and his wife Nancy of San Antonio, TX, and Curtis J. Pollock of Erba, UT; a daughter, Cynthia J. Thompson and her husband Bud of Kirksville, MO; three grandsons; one great-grandson; two brothers, Willard Overby of Escondida, CA, and Bo Overby of Gainesville, GA; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Kimbrell-Stern from 7 p.m.- 9 p.m. today.

MARION, Ill. - Bertha Katherine Yeager, 81, of Marion, Ill., died at 11:45 a.m., Sunday, February 2, 2003, at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion.
She was born in Wana, West Virginia, on September 2, 1921, the daughter of Frank and Bertha Lucretia (Copeland) Horner. She married James Ellwood Yeager September 24, 1938. He preceded her in death March 22, 1974.
Mrs. Yeager attended Cedar Grove United Methodist Church in Marion. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW.
Survivors include a daughter, Ann Yeager of Marion, Ill; three sons, Larry Yeager of Albany, J.L. Yeager of Washington, Penn., and Richard Yeager of Moultrie; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Atchison and husband Cecil of Benton, Ill, and Pam LaRocca and husband Robert of Pittsburgh, Penn. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons Ronald and Michael, three sisters and five brothers.
