CUTHBERT - Venara K. Franklin, 88, of Cuthbert died Monday, February 3, 2003, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany.
The funeral service will be conducted today at 2 p.m. from First Baptist Church. The Revs. Tom McClendon and Ken Hall will officiate and interment will be in East View Cemetery.
Mrs. Franklin was born December 21, 1914, in Geneva County, AL, daughter of the late Oliver R. and Annie Pelham Kirkland. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she was a member of the WMU, Extension Dept., and Happy Hearts. Mrs. Franklin was preceded in death by her husband, Carlton A. Franklin; a son, Harold V. Franklin and a grandson, H. Van Franklin Jr.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara and her husband, Jimmy Sealy of Cuthbert; a sister, Jewett K. Ward of Columbus; three grandchildren, Spence Sealy, Lori Allen and Aimee Greene and six great-grandchildren.

DAWSON - Irene Milner Senn of Dawson died Monday, February 3, 2003, at Laurel Park Nursing Home in Stockbridge. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church of Dawson with interment in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Senn was a native of Shiloh, born April 9, 1916, daughter of the late Hershel and Cynthia Milner. She had lived in Dawson most of her life, she was a homemaker and was the widow of John H. Senn of Dawson.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Dawson where she was a member of the Joyful Jubilee Choir and the Minnie Clark Sunday School Class. She was a member of the Dawson Garden Club, and she enjoyed playing bridge and sewing as hobbies.
Survivors include her daughter, Cynthia S. Helton and son-in-law, Z.T. "Butch" Helton of Rex; three grandchildren, John Thearon Helton of McDonough, Heidi H. Foster of Rex and Alice H. Messer of McDonough; four great-grandchildren, Zachary Thearon Helton and Kaitlyn Elaine Helton, both of McDonough, Riley Grant Foster of Rex and Jacob Cole Messer due June 2003.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Dawson, 309 Church St., NE, Dawson, GA 39842.
Visitation will be today from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Harvey Funeral Home.

ALBANY - Ruth Britten Borders, 82, of 1907 Skylane Avenue died Saturday, February 1, 2003, at Palmyra Nursing Home in Albany.
The funeral will be held at noon Friday at Meadows Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Union Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Calvin Rollins will officiate.
A native of Lee County, Mrs. Borders was a homemaker. She attended Lee County public schools and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include one daughter, Lula Bell Battle of Roselle, New Jersey; and one son, Leonard Leverette of Las Vegas, Nevada; one sister, Gladys Gaines of Mt. Morris, Mich.; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Mary Frances Boggs Joiner
ALBANY - Mary Frances Joiner, formerly of Albany, died Sunday night February 2, 2003, in Denver, Colorado.
Born in Douglas, Georgia, on April 16, 1920, she moved with her family to Albany in 1926. She graduated from Albany High School and attended Georgia Women's College in Milledgeville. She was the daughter of Judson Neely Boggs and Jessie Lee Overstreet. In 1939, she married John Robert Joiner Jr., also of Albany.
For many years she served as a budget analyst at the Marine Corps Logistics Base. She also worked for the First State Bank of Albany and was a member of the board of AGE Federal Credit Union.
Her interest in genealogy led to participation and leadership in many local historical organizations including: Southwest Georgia Genealogical Society, United Daughters of the Confederacy, Thronateeska Chapter of the DAR; Daughters of 1812, John Sumner Chapter of Colonial Dames, and Daughters of American Colonists. Her other civic activities included membership in the Albany Garden Club, P.E.O., and For Get Me Nots. As a member of Porterfield United Memorial Methodist Church, she served as president of the Fellowship Sunday School Class and XYZ.
She is survived by a daughter, Mari Jo Joiner of Denver, Colorado; a son J. Robert Joiner III of Atlanta; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Katherine Boggs King of Lawrenceville, Georgia, and Wynona Boggs Van Tassle of Huntley, Illinois.
Visitation will be held Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Kimbrell-Stern. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 PM at Kimbrell-Stern, with burial following at Riverside Cemetery.
Contributions in her memory may be made to the YMCA of Albany, 1701 Gillionville Road, Albany, GA 31707 or to the Dougherty County Public Library, 300 Pine Street, Albany, GA 31701.

MONROE - Thelma G. Miller, 91, of Watkinsville died Tuesday, February 4, 2003.
A native of Worth County, she was a daughter of the late John and Ella Garrett. The widow of Johnny Miller, she was a member of Milledge Avenue Baptist Church, Athens, and the Oconee Senior Citizen's Club. She was a former resident of Terrell County and Ocala, FL, and had resided in Watkinsville for 23 years.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Arthur Bowick's Oconee Chapel, Watkinsville. Dr. Edward Bolen will officiate. Interment services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at in Doverel Baptist Cemetery in Dawson.
Surviving are one daughter, Fran Boon of Statham; two sons, Marvin Miller of Wasleco, TX, and James Miller of Watkinsville; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
The family requests donations to Milledge Avenue Baptist Church Carpet Fund, 1690 S. Milledge Ave., Athens, GA 30605 or to one's favorite charity.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

ALBANY - Gladys Marie Hoyt Sokolowski, 54, of 1508 Westwood Drive, Albany, GA, died Tuesday, February 4, 2003, at her residence.
Her funeral service will be held Saturday, 11 AM at St. Teresa's Catholic Church with interment to follow at Crown Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Jacek Szuster will officiate.
Mrs. Sokolowski was born April 6, 1948, in Great Falls, Montana. She graduated from Great Falls High School, Great Falls, Montana, and went on to attend college at Memphis University. She was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps having served during the Vietnam War. She moved to Albany in 1986 and worked as a Personnel Clerk at the Marine Corps Logistics Base until her retirement in 1998. She was a member of St. Teresa's Catholic Church and choir, as well as the Albany Choral.
She is survived by her husband, Walter S. Sokolowski of Albany; daughter, Dawn Angela Pittman and her husband Andy of Albany; sons, Douglas Todd Sokolowski and his wife Tamara and Trinity Justin Sokolowski and his wife Katrina, both of Albany; mother, Johanna Hoyt Pearson of Billings, Montana; sisters, Betty Lawson and her husband Mark of Billings, Montana, Alice Hoyt of Great Falls, Montana, and Patty Jo Rhodeback and her husband Michael of Hebron, Ohio; brothers, Danny Hoyt and his wife Kay of Great Falls, Montana, and Donnie Hoyt and his wife Pat of Marlow, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Christopher Sokolowski, Matthew Bryant, Michael and Megan Pittman, Jasmine Sokolowski, Taylor Justin Sokolowski; brother-in-law, Bob Sokolowski and his wife Judy of Lawrenceville, GA; sister-in-law, Cecelia Bohn and her husband, Andy of Omaha, NE, and Teri Sell and her husband Ken of Bayshore, NY. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Ryan Leroy Sokolowski.
A prayer service will be held Friday at 6 PM at Kimbrell-Stern with visitation to follow until 9 PM.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 8, 2003, at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, Highway 37, Camilla, GA, where the Reverend "Curnell Henry is the pastor. Minister O. Kinard will officiate. Burial will follow in Oak View Cemetery in Camilla, GA.
Mr. Clark attended the public schools of Columbia County, Florida. He was a laborer.
Left to cherish his memories are two loving daughters, Dorothy Lovett (Thomas) of Orlando, FL, and Henen B. Sapp of Syracuse, NY; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

ASHBURN - Services for Charlie B. Gibbs, 90, of 10311 Ga. Hwy. 159 North, Ashburn, will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Amboy Baptist Church with burial to follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Ashburn. Mr. Gibbs died Wednesday, February 5, 2003, at Ashburn Health Care in Ashburn.
Mr. Gibbs was born in Irwin County, Georgia, and was the son of the late John Richard and Hassie Cone Gibbs. He was a retired farmer and a member of Amboy Baptist Church. He had resided in Turner County most of his life.
Survivors include his wife, Clyde H. Gibbs of Ashburn; son, Charles Gibbs of Ashburn; daughters, Jane G. Morris of Dawson and Gail G. Reed of Ashburn; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 7 p.m.-8:30 p.m. today at Perry Funeral Chapel.
