ALBANY - The graveside funeral service of Jack Allee Griffin, 67, of 128 N. Main Street, Leesburg, who died Monday, February 17, 2003, will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Sparks City Cemetery, Sparks, GA.
A native of Bainbridge, Mr. Griffin had resided in Leesburg since 1994, moving from Albany. He was the retired owner of Jack Griffin Construction Co., and worked as a national and international independent construction consultant after his retirement. Mr. Griffin, a Marine veteran of the Korean Conflict, was a member of First Baptist Church of Leesburg.
Survivors include his wife, Kathryn Griffin of Leesburg; a daughter and son-in-law, Ginny and Marc Shemery of Leesburg; a brother, Gene Griffin of Albany; sister, Mary Lou Hite of Cartersville, GA; three grandchildren, Dane Fallin, Brooke Fallin and Marc Shemery.

A native of Blakely, GA, Miss West had lived in Dublin since 1963, after retiring from Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital's switchboard and admitting offices. She was a former member of Byne Memorial Baptist Church in Albany.
Survivors include two sisters, Mary Jane West and Ladalia Hooten, both of Dublin, GA. She also has a number of nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.

CORDELE - Sara Crenshaw Bryan, 76, of 1948 Crenshaw Road, Pitts, died Monday, February 17, 2003, at her residence.

A native of Wilcox County, Mrs. Bryan was a dietitian and homemaker. She was a member of Union Baptist Church and was a Sunday school teacher for children for many years.
Survivors include her husband, the Rev. James Bryan of Pitts; daughter, Susan (Jeff) Workman of Cordele; two sons, Leon (Pam) Bryan of Jacksonville, FL, and Scott (Kaye) Bryan of Vidalia; one brother, George Crenshaw of Pitts; two sisters, Annie Lee Jett and Voncile Mayo, both of Cordele; grandchildren, Katy Workman, Sara Ann Workman, Joel Workman, Jeffry Workman, Caleb Bryan, Jacob Bryan, Daniel Bryan and Samuel Bryan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Tennie G. and Mary Mitchell Crenshaw; a sister, Dessie Wright and two brothers, Cecil and John D. Crenshaw.

AMERICUS - Woodie C. Cornwell, 82, of 304 Cornwell Road, Americus, died Monday morning, February 17, 2003, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. today from St. Andrews Lutheran Church in Plains with Pastor Charles Thompson and the Rev. Rodney Porter officiating. Interment will follow in Lebanon Cemetery.
Pallbearers will include Cornwell Webb, William Webb, Lewis Webb, Ry McRee, Fritz Turpin, and Ralph Cornwell Jr.
Mr. Cornwell, a native of Monticello, GA, was born August 29, 1920, a son of Woodie C. Cornwell and Ina Chaffin Cornwell. He was a pilot of B-26 planes during World War II, serving on the European front. He served for a number of years on the Sumter County Board of Education and on the Sumter County Board of Tax Assessors from July 6, 1977, until December 31, 2000. He participated in President Carter's Peanut Brigade. He was a member of St. Andrews Lutheran Church and a former council member. He was a prominent Sumter County farmer and agri-businessman, and was an owner of C & M Machinery Company.

Born September 6, 1934, in Mitchell County, Mr. Godwin was manager of Dab-A-Do BP Station in Pelham. He was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S Marine Corps. He was the son of the late Tommy and Sadie Faircloth Godwin and was preceded in death by a sister, Armogene Pope of Arlington, VA.
Survivors include his wife, Edith Godwin of Pelham; a daughter, Ray Jean Dickerson of Ochlocknee; two brothers, Joel Roger Godwin of Lilburn and Charles "Bo" Godwin of Pelham; a sister, Lottie Nell Beavers of Annandale, VA; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

JONESBORO - James Wright Kennedy, 79, of Jonesboro passed away Monday, February 17, 2003.
Mr. Kennedy was a member and deacon of McDonough Road Baptist Church where he also served as a childrens Sunday School teacher. He was also a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. Mr. Kennedy also served in the U.S. Army during WW II where he received two purple hearts.
