A native of Baker County, GA, Mrs. Daniel had lived in Graceville, FL, since 1983, moving from Miami, FL. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, John W. Daniel Jr. of Graceville, FL; a daughter, Gayle Lanette McCool of Panama City, FL; a brother, Carl E. ALBANY - Blanche Henrietta Goddard, 71, died Monday, February 10, 2003, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. today at Hall & Hall Funeral Home with interment at 2 p.m. at Andersonville National Cemetery with the Rev. Charlie Rouse officiating.
Mrs. Goddard, a native of Buffalo, NY, lived in Albany for the past 32 years. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church and was a supporter of the Southwest Georgia Sportsman Club. She was retired from Sears after 25 years of service. During Mrs. Goddard's 71 years, her loving hand touched lives of countless family members and friends. Her caring influence made a difference in so many lives and her presence will leave a void in the hearts of all who knew her. She was preceded in death by an infant son, David Goddard.
She is survived by her husband, Retired Master Sergeant Joseph W. Goddard; son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Valerie Goddard of St. Mary's, GA; daughters and sons-in-law, Joanne Blanche and Dean Pocock of Portsmouth, VA, and Jean and Jimmy Martin of Albany; daughters, Carol Woodard of Albany and Martha Klees of Apopka, FL; brothers and sisters-in-law, Edwin and Anne Ludwig of Aquone, NC, Ralph and Sandy Ludwig of Seqin, TX, and Charles and Carolyn Ludwig of West Palm Beach, FL; sisters and brothers-in-law, Edna and Leo Nash of Schuylerville, NY, and Phyllis and Darrel Branning of Deland, FL; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

ARITON, Ala. - Max L. Griffin, 82, of Ariton, Ala., died Wednesday, February 12, 2003, at Dale Medical Center.

Mr. Griffin was a member of Center Ridge Baptist Church and Masonic Lodge #171 in Ariton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Noah and Lena Griffin and two brothers, Shirley Griffin and James Griffin.

Polly Young Murry
HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. -Polly Young Murry, widow of Hardy Phifer Murry, died Sunday, February 2, 2003, at the home of her daughter. Mrs. Murry was born March 9, 1917, in New Albany, MS. She was a daughter of the late William Alvie and Janie Bennett Young of New Albany, MS. Two brothers and a sister, all of Mississippi, also preceded her in death.
Chief Warrant Officer 4 and Mrs. Murry came to Albany in 1954, when CW4 Murry was among the first officers assigned to the newly built Marine Corps Supply Center. Through the years, Mrs. Murry was a member of Radium Springs Garden Club, Officer's Wives Club, and Retired Officers Association. She also volunteered as a Grady Lady at the Albany Naval Hospital and for the American Red Cross. She was an avid and skilled bridge player. One of her most cherished memories as winning a deputies bridge tournament against members of the touring Italian Team in the Republic of Panama in 1973.
Mrs. Murry is survived by her daughter, Bettie M. Goldman and her husband, Edward Cornelius of NC; grandson, Tripp Hardin and his wife, Rebecca of Huntersville, NC; granddaughter, Jennifer Bergin and her husband, Kevin of Oakton, VA; sister, Coy Virginia Loden of Memphis, TM; and sisters-in-law, Ruby Murry Hayden and her husband, Blanford of Griffin, GA, and Catherine Craig Young of Myrtle, MS.
Mrs. Murry will be interred with her husband in Arlington National Cemetery Thursday. To all of her many friends in Albany, the family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation for all of your prayers and notes of support through her illness.

PANAMA CITY, Fla. -Thomas G. Cooley, 73, of Laguna Beach, Fla., passed away Monday, February 10, 2003, at his residence.
Born June 21, 1929, in Lee County, AL, he had been a resident of Laguna Beach for 20 years. Mr. Cooley was Protestant by faith. He worked as head maintenance at Trade Winds Motel before he had health problems. Mr. Cooley was preceded in death by his parents and a brother. He leaves behind his wife of 53 years, Sarah Cooley; two sons, Larry Cooley and his wife, Terrie of Leesburg, GA, Lynn Cooley and his wife, Lynn of Leesburg; sister, Evelyn Hollis of Cussetta, AL; three grandchildren, T.C. Cooley, Bryant Cooley and a very special granddaughter, Sissy Cooley; several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. at Southerland Family Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ken Welsensale officiating.

ALBANY - James E. "Wally" Hastings, 81, of 422 Whippoorwill Road, died Wednesday, February 12, 2003, in Montgomery, AL.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Beattie Road Church of Christ. The interment service will be at 3 p.m. CST Sunday at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Shelbyville, TN. Ministers Bill Rowden, Jerry Whitmyre and Brother Edd Boguss will officiate.
A native of Shelbyville, TN, Mr. Hastings moved to Albany 34 years ago from Covington, GA, while working with The McGregor Corporation and was the plant manager from 1968 to 1972. He worked with Woodmen of the World where he served on the Board of Trustees of the Safer Group and was also an insurance agent. He is a former President of Woodmen of the World Lodge 21. Mr. Hastings also worked in the real estate industry here in the Albany area. He was a member of Beattie Road Church of Christ. Mr. Hastings served in the United States Army and served during World War II. He served with the 35th Infantry Division in France, where he received the Purple Heart, Belgium and Luxembourg.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Marie Hastings, of Albany; a daughter, Rita Laukka and her husband Rick of Big Canoe, GA; a son, James Larry Hastings and his wife Jean of Montgomery, AL; a sister, Christine Lawder of Shelbyville, TN; a brother, Thomas Hastings of Tullahoma, TN; four grandchildren, Chip Laukka, Beth Laukka, Stephanie Hastings, and Eric Hastings; and a niece, Linda Sudberry, of Unionville, TN.

ALBANY - Ruby Ethel Braziel Henson, of Greenville, SC, formerly of Albany, died Tuesday, February 11, 2003, in Greenville. She was a devoted and cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hall & Hall Chapel with the Rev. Bobby Harrell officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery.
A native of Pitts, GA, Mrs. Henson had lived in Albany since 1948, moving to Greenville, SC, in 1996. She graduated from Andrews College and Georgia Southern University with a degree in elementary education. Mrs. Henson was an elementary school teacher for 43 years and had been a member of Pitts United Methodist Church and Sunnyside Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leland Avery Henson Sr., a brother, William Harrison "Braz" Braziel Jr. and two sisters, Essie Mae Braziel and Lorranie Braziel.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Leland and Debbie Henson and James and Leigh Ann Henson, all of Greenville, SC; brother, Dr. Delano R.
