TIFTON - Dr. Milton E. Walker, 79, of Tifton, died Saturday, February 22, 2003 at Tift Regional Hospital in Tifton.
Funeral services will be held Monday, 10:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Tifton, with Dr. Wayne Roe and Dr. Ches Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Fitzgerald.
Born on January 28, 1924 in Fitzgerald, Dr. Walker was the son of the late William Samuel Walker and Gladys Kirkland Walker. He was a retired agronomist with the University of Georgia, Coastal Plains Experiment Station in Tifton in 1987. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Tifton, where he was deacon, Sunday School Teacher and director of young married department. Dr. Walker was a 1943 graduate of Fitzgerald High School, immediately following he enlisted in the U.S. Army Field Artillery, serving in New Guinea and the Philippines. He served during World War II in the Army. After military service he attended Abraham Baldwin Agriculture College and University of Georgia where he received his BS Degree and later Masters and Doctorate. Also he was former employee of A B & C Railroad.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Mary Lewis Walker of Tifton; three daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy W. and Tommy Pace of Sylvania, Kathi W. and Stephen Taylor of Rayle, and Beth W. and Doug Hurt of Tifton; a son and daughter-in-law, Milt and Kellie Walker Jr. of Tifton; sister and brother-in-law, Betty W. and Claude Gordon of Albany; eight grandchildren, Kim P. Hall, Julie P. Stubbs, Allen Pace, Melissa Walker, Lucy Walker, Samantha Walker, Clint Donald, Elizabeth Ann Hurt; and two great-grandchildren, Gabie Pritchett and Isaiah Stubbs.
Visitation will be held today (Sunday), from 7 p.m.-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
The body will lie in state at the First Baptist Church in Tifton from 9:30 a.m. until the funeral hour.

PELHAM - Guy "Frank" Weigand, 72, died Friday, February 21, 2003 at Archbold Memorial Hospital. Services are to be announced later.
Born in Sparta, NC, on August 21, 1930, Mr. Weigand was the son of the late Kate Hines Weigand and Raymond Weigand. He was a retired restaurant operator and member of the Harmony Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Cassandra "Cassie" Edwards.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Norton Weigand of Meigs; four daughters, Francine "Franny" Richardson, Garalee "Gar" Weldon, both of Andos Island, Bahamas, Katie Weigand of Meigs and Christal Coffing of Salisbury, NC; and nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

ALBANY - Lizzie Pope Clemons, 87, of 902 Henderson Road, died Sunday, February 16, 2003 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 25, 2003 at 2 p.m. at New Zion Hill Baptist Church with burial in Riverside Cemetery. The Rev. Solomon Loud Jr. will officiate.
A native of Smithville, Mrs. Clemons was a member of New Zion Hill Baptist Church, where she was mother of the church.
Survivors include four daughters, Daisy Moore (Waddell) Jackson of Las Vegas, NV, Mildred Clemons (Dennis) Schmelz and Joanne Clemons (Larry) Parson, both of Atlanta, GA, and Johnnie Mae Clemons Stephen of Albany; three sons, Joseph Moore of Foley, AL, James Moore of Tampa, FL, and Johnnie Lee Clemons Jr. of Atlanta; two sisters, Lillie (Aaron) Williams and Lillian Wright, both of Miami, FL; and 18 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

ALBANY - John Hansel Glenn Jr., 84, of 1607 3rd Ave., died Sunday, February 23, 2003 at his residence.
The funeral service will be Tuesday, 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Albany. Dr. Curtis R. Driver and Dr. James M. Ramsey officiating. Interment will be 2 p.m. at Pelham City Cemetery.
A native of Pelham, Mr. Glenn moved to Albany in 1940 to work with First State Bank, now Regions Bank. After serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II, Mr. Glenn returned to First State and retired as Senior Vice President in 1984. During his 57 year membership in First Baptist Church, Mr. Glenn taught a men's Sunday School class and served on the Board of Deacons. He was a member of the Albany Lions Club for many years, serving two terms as president, an active member and President of the Albany JAYCEES, and active in the Georgia and American Bankers Associations. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl E. Glenn and Roy E. Glenn.
Survivors include his wife, Elsie Edwards Glenn of Albany; two daughters, Betty Glenn Driver and husband, Curtis, of Mission, KS, and Linda Glenn Wilburn and husband, Rod, of Greenville; grandson, Curtis R. Driver, U.S. Army and wife, Lee, of San Antonio, TX; granddaughter, Erica Driver Cornett and husband, Justin, of Vancouver, WA; two step-granddaughters, Kathryn Wilburn Peterson of Mobile, AL, and Carla Wilburn Bamatraf of Woodstock, and their husbands; and one great-grandson and four step-great-granddaughters.
The family will receive friends today (Monday) from 6:30 p.m.-8 p.m. at Kimbrell-Stern.

TIFTON - Ruby Nina Tanner Carr, 89, of Tifton, died Saturday, February 22, 2003 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held today (Monday), 2 p.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church, with burial in Waterloo Baptist Church Cemetery. The Revs. Randall Gay and Terrell Roberts will officiate.
Born September 18, 1913 in Heard County, Mrs. Carr was a homemaker and attended Macedonia Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin Tanner and Mary Lela Archer Tanner; and wife of the late Glennie Thomas Carr. She was former member of the Willing Workers Community Club and Home Demonstration Club and she enjoyed fishing.
Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, Herman T. and Kitty Carr, and Derrell G. and Dianne Carr, all of Chula, Donald D. and Joyce Carr, and G. Randall and Jane Carr, all of Tifton; a brother, Loyd Tanner of Tifton; a sister, Lela T. Heard of Chula; and seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by one infant daughter, five brothers and two sisters.
The body will lie in state for one hour before services at the church.

MILLEDGEVILLE - The death of Edith May Phillips Justice occurred Friday, February 21, 2003 in a local hospital in Milledgeville. Graveside services will be held today (Monday) at 1 p.m. from Andersonville National Cemetery in Americus.
Mrs. Justice was born in Spring Creek, VA, and had made her home in Macon before moving to Milledgeville four years ago. She was retired from Warner Robins Air Force Base, a member of the First Christian Church in Macon and a past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star.
Mrs. Justice was the daughter of the late William Henry Phillips and Evelyn May Stover. She was preceded in death by a son, William "Bill" Justice.
Mrs. Justice is survived by a sister, Virginia Hite of Staunton, VA; and a grandson, Chris and his wife, Lea Justice of Milledgeville.

ASHBURN - Services for Darby Lyn Pilkinton, 17, of 2223 Honeysuckle Road, Sycamore, will be held Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Bethel Baptist Church, with burial to follow in the Bethel Cemetery. Miss Pilkinton died Saturday, February 21, 2003, from injuries sustained in an auto accident.
Miss Pilkinton was born in Tift County and had resided in Turner County all of her life. She was a senior at Tiftarea Academy where she was Captain of the Lady Panthers Basketball and Softball Teams. She was a member of the Track and Cross Country team and was a member of the GISA State Champion Girls' Softball team. She was President of the Beta Club and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She was Miss Tiftarea of 2002-2003, 2002 Tiftarea Homecoming Queen and a Senior Superlative. She was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church.
Survivors include her father and mother, Terry and Phyllis H. Pilkinton of Sycamore; brother, Derek Pilkinton of Sycamore; and maternal grandparents, Charles and Jackie Hardy of Sycamore.
Preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Morris B. and Tiny Pilkinton.
Visitation will be held today (Monday), from 6 p.m.-9 p.m. at the funeral home.

VIDALIA - Abbie Mann Phillips, born February 26, 1908, of 406 Jackson St., Vidalia, died Saturday, February 22, 2003, at her residence after an extended illness. The daughter of the late Susie and Alfred Henry Colquitt Mann, a native of Toombs County living most all of her life in Vidalia. She was a retired school teacher with the Vidalia City School System and was a member of the Retired Teachers Association and a graduate of Georgia Teachers College in Statesboro. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Vidalia and was a member of the former T E L Sunday School class. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie J. Phillips, a brother, Herman Mann, a sister, Mary McArthur Newton and a twin sister, Addie Adams.
Mrs. Phillips is survived by one daughter, DeLaine Henderson and her husband, Kermit of Albany; one son, William Phillips and his wife, Pat of Vidalia; one grandson, Gordon Phillips of Los Angeles, Calif.; three granddaughters, Angela Combs and her husband, Rusty of Vidalia, Leah Mullins and her husband, Dave of Savannah, Lydia Reich and her husband, Daniel of Albany; six great-grandchildren, Emily and Claire Combs of Vidalia, Savannah and Sarah Mullins of Savannah, and Ansley and Drew Reich of Albany; two sisters, Ruth Partin of Lyons and Tiny Threlkeld of Vidalia and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Monday at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Vidalia. The Rev. Don Moye officiated. Interment followed in Pinecrest Cemetery.
