ALBANY - Lizzie Pope Clemons, 87, of 902 Henderson Road, died Sunday, February 16, 2003 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 25, 2003 at 2 p.m. at New Zion Hill Baptist Church with burial in Riverside Cemetery. The Rev. Solomon Loud Jr. will officiate.
A native of Smithville, Mrs. Clemons was a member of New Zion Hill Baptist Church, where she was mother of the church.
Survivors include four daughters, Daisy Moore (Waddell) Jackson of Las Vegas, NV, Mildred Clemons (Dennis) Schmelz and Joanne Clemons (Larry) Parson, both of Atlanta, GA, and Johnnie Mae Clemons Stephen of Albany; three sons, Joseph Moore of Foley, AL, James Moore of Tampa, FL, and Johnnie Lee Clemons Jr. of Atlanta; two sisters, Lillie (Aaron) Williams and Lillian Wright, both of Miami, FL; and 18 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

ALBANY - The funeral service of Marie Morell, 82, of 236 Helen Street, Leesburg, who died Thursday, February 20, 2003 at Palmyra Medical Centers, will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. The Revs. Dan Harris and Hilton Gillespie will officiate. Interment will follow in Floral Memory Gardens.
A native of Baker County, GA, Mrs. Morell had lived most of her life in Albany. She was retired sales clerk with Belk's Department Store in Albany, and was a member of Philema Road Baptist Church, VFW Post No. 2785 Auxiliary, a Red Cross Volunteer and a member of ALSAC.
Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Patricia Ann and Billy Carl Mathis of Leesburg; two sons Joseph Morell of Leesburg and David William Morell of Albany; two sisters, Louise B. Morrell and Carolyn Burnstein, both of Albany; three grandsons, Billy Carl Mathis Jr., David William Morell Jr. and Timothy Stephen Morell; and two great-grandchildren, Carly Marie Mathis and Billy Carl Mathis III.

ALBANY - Hollis Vernon Shiflett, 76, of 1709 Myrtle Road, Albany, died Saturday, February 22, 2003 at his residence.
The funeral service will be Monday, 11 a.m. at Kimbrell-Stern. The Revs. John Tarrar and Ray Bowman officiating. Interment will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery with military honors and Masonic rites.
A native of Greggs, GA, Mr. Shiflett has lived in Albany since 1953, where he was a faithful member of Byne Memorial Baptist Church, retired from Monroe Systems for Business after 35 years of service. Mr. Shiflett was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 591 since 1960, serving as local lodge secretary since 1980, Tri-County Memorial Club Secretary, and the SOWEGA Masonic Convention Secretary. He also was a member of the Hasan Temple Scottish Rite, serving as chairman of the transportation committee, taking burned and crippled children to various Shrine Hospitals. He was also secretary of the Lake Park Recreation Club.
Mr. Shiflett served in the United States Navy during World War II.
Survivors include his son, Scott Shiflett of Albany; a daughter, Lynda Rexroat and her husband, Rickey of Dawsonville; three grandchildren, Stefanie, Christopher and Nicholas, all of Dawsonville; two sisters, Opal Smith of Morven, GA, and Myrtle Duke of Tallassee, AL; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Shiflett was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Shiflett, three brothers, Bradley, Charles and Isaac Shiflett, one sister, Diamond Ensley.
The family will receive friends today (Sunday) from 2 p.m.-4 p.m. at Kimbrell-Stern.

CORDELE - Josephine B. Teal, 78, of Warwick, died Friday, February 21, 2003 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany.
A graveside funeral service will be held today (Sunday), 2 p.m. at Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Teal, a native of Crisp County, was a housewife and member of the Rockhill Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late William Arthur Bartlett and Annie Josephine Stroud. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Teal Sr. and her brother, Arthur J. Bartlett.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, the Rev. Cecil (Nancy) Teal Jr. of Warwick, and Arthur James (Cheryl) Teal of Americus; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cecelia (Allen) Evans of Americus, and Dale (Scott) Blue of Cordele; three sisters, Inez Holt of Lenox, Mary Ela Macey and Lila B. TIFTON - Dr. Milton E. Walker, 79, of Tifton, died Saturday, February 22, 2003 at Tift Regional Hospital in Tifton.
Funeral services will be held Monday, 10:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Tifton, with Dr. Wayne Roe and Dr. Ches Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Fitzgerald.
Born on January 28, 1924 in Fitzgerald, Dr. Walker was the son of the late William Samuel Walker and Gladys Kirkland Walker. He was a retired agronomist with the University of Georgia, Coastal Plains Experiment Station in Tifton in 1987. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Tifton, where he was deacon, Sunday School Teacher and director of young married department. Dr. Walker was a 1943 graduate of Fitzgerald High School, immediately following he enlisted in the U.S. Army Field Artillery, serving in New Guinea and the Philippines. He served during World War II in the Army. After military service he attended Abraham Baldwin Agriculture College and University of Georgia where he received his BS Degree and later Masters and Doctorate. Also he was former employee of A B & C Railroad.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Mary Lewis Walker of Tifton; three daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy W. and Tommy Pace of Sylvania, Kathi W. and Stephen Taylor of Rayle, and Beth W. and Doug Hurt of Tifton; a son and daughter-in-law, Milt and Kellie Walker Jr. of Tifton; sister and brother-in-law, Betty W. and Claude Gordon of Albany; eight grandchildren, Kim P. Hall, Julie P. Stubbs, Allen Pace, Melissa Walker, Lucy Walker, Samantha Walker, Clint Donald, Elizabeth Ann Hurt; and two great-grandchildren, Gabie Pritchett and Isaiah Stubbs.
Visitation will be held today (Sunday), from 7 p.m.-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
The body will lie in state at the First Baptist Church in Tifton from 9:30 a.m. until the funeral hour.
