Mrs. Lera Whitsel, 95, of Homer, died Friday, March 30, 2001, at her residence.
Mrs. Whitsel was born January 23, 1906, in Georgia, a daughter of the late John and Alice Roberts.
She was a homemaker and was a member of Beaverdam Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 1, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce. Burial was in Jackson Memorial Gardens, Commerce.
Survivors include two sons, Dewitt Whitsel, Comer, and Odell Whitsel, Homer; two daughters, Hazel Hemrick, Demorest, and Magalyn Vaughn, Homer; one sister, Bertha Tench, Walhalla, S.C.; seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Randy T. Wright
Randy Thomas "Fat Back" Wright, 31, of Commerce, died Thursday, March 29, 2001, at BJC Medical Center, Commerce.
Mr. Wright was born August 25, 1969, in Jackson County. He was a son of the late Marion and Mildred Holman Wright.
Mr. Wright was self-employed in landscaping and was a member of Cave Springs Baptist Church, Jefferson.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 2, at Cave Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Don Blalock officiating. Burial was in the Center Grove Baptist Church cemetery, Pendergrass.
Survivors include two sisters, Katie Grizzle and Pamela Kitchens, both of Jefferson; four brothers, David Wright, Danielsville, Ricky Wright, Hull, Andy Wright, Nicholson, and Jerry Wright, Commerce; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Sylvester Riden
Sylvester "Billy" Riden, 64, of Comer, died Saturday, March 31, 2001.
Mr. Riden was a son of the late Obie Riden and Zelma Lee Thornton.
He was employed with a granite company and was a member of Holly Creek Baptist Church
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 5, at Holly Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. Scottie Randolph and Sherman Mattox officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Riden is survived by his wife, Mattie Sue Sims; two daughters, May Sue Bailey, Comer, and Anna Rose Riden, Stephens; four sons, Sylvester Riden Jr., Dwayne Riden and Otis Gene Riden, all of Comer and Samuel Lee Riden, Carlton; four sisters, Mary Lou Sims, Comer, and Betty Carol Long, Annie Ruth Burden and Bessie Joe Cunningham, all of Athens; two brothers, Henry Lewis Riden, Carlton, and Clifford Riden, Hull; a goddaughter raised in the home, Shanda Pass, Athens; and 10 grandchildren.

Henry G. Pittman
Henry Grady Pittman, 66, of Nicholson, died Wednesday, March 28, 2001, at his residence.
Mr. Pittman was born January 30, 1935, in Jackson County, a son of the late Theo and Pauline Seagraves Pittman.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was retired from Dairy Pak. Mr. Pittman was a member of Madison Street Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Friday, March 30, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Revs. Darrell Dale and David Harbin officiating. Burial was in the New Harmony Baptist Church cemetery.
Mr. Pittman is survived by his wife, Beverly Dean Matthews Pittman, Nicholson; two sons, Matthew Pittman and Phil Pittman, both of Winder; two daughters, Tara Hembree, Nicholson, and Deborah Jarrard, Hull; one sister, Hazel Lester, Nicholson; six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Johnnie M. Anderson
Mrs. Johnnie McElroy Anderson, 85, of Commerce, died Thursday, March 29, 2001, at Crystle Springs Nursing Home.
A native of Banks County, Mrs. Anderson was born May 7, 1915, a daughter of the late Albert Benton and Mary Elizabeth Carson McElroy.
She was a homemaker and was a member of Beaverdam Baptist Church. Mrs. Anderson was preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey Currie Anderson.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 31, at Beaverdam Baptist Church with the Revs. Marshall Smith and Chad Payne officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include one step-son, Bill Anderson, St. Petersburg, Fla.; one step-daughter, Ann Urbanski, Tampa, Fla.; one brother, Felix McElroy, Athens; one sister, Roberta Sparks, Commerce; and eight grandchildren.

Lenward L. Minish, 77, of Commerce, died Sunday, April 1, 2001, at his residence.
Mr. Minish was born November 28, 1923, in Jackson County, a son of the late Foster and Lottie Richey Minish.
He was retired from the auto business and was of the Baptist denomination.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Rev. Swayne Cochran officiating. Burial was in Grey Hill Cemetery, Commerce.
Mr. Minish is survived by his wife, Margaret Lord Minish, Commerce; two sons, Dennis Minish, Commerce, and Sam Thurmond, Maysville; five daughters, Linda Hendrix and Cynthia Sorrow, both of Commerce, Cathy Minish, Gainesville, Dianne Mooney, Huntland, Texas, and Linda Kay Reed, Sumitt, Utah; one brother, Columbus O. Minish, Charles City, Va.; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

James M. Crunkleton, 82, of Commerce, died Saturday, March 31, 2001, at his residence.
Mr. Crunkleton was born September 7, 1918, in Rabun County. He was a son of the late Joseph H. and Lilly Mae Wall Crunkleton.
Mr. Crunkleton was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He had been employed as a salesperson and was of the Baptist denomination.
Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, in Whitlock Chapel.
Mr. Crunkleton is survived by his wife, Eleanor Artemis Pappas Crunkleton, Commerce; two sons, Robert J. Crunkleton, Orlando, Fla., and Wayne Crunkleton, Silver Spring, Md.; one daughter, Penelope Crunkleton, Silver Spring, Md.; one brother, J.H. Crunkleton, Tiger; and one sister, Lauren Cabe, Tiger.

Mrs. Julia Mae Bryant, 87, of Comer, formerly of Lavonia, died Thursday, March 29, 2001.
A native of Franklin County, Mrs. Bryant was a daughter of the late Clarence R. Randall and Rilla Pierce Randall.
She had worked in retail sales and was a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church, Seneca, S.C. Mrs. Bryant was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Bryant.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 31, in the chapel of Hamby Funeral Home with the Rev. Johnny Ashworth officiating. Burial was in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church cemetery.
Survivors include two sons, William Randall Bryant, Seneca, S.C., and Edward Lamar Bryant, Lavonia; three sisters, Geraldine Thomas, Dalton, Veronica O'Barr, Union City, and Dorothy Sue R. Cawthon, Lavonia; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

MAYSVILLE - Mrs. Linda Sue Grizzle, 49, died Tuesday, March 20, 2001, at BJC Medical Center, Commerce, following an extended illness.
Mrs. Grizzle was born January 22, 1952, in Cleveland, Ohio, a daughter of Frank and Eleanor McClure McConnell, Maysville.
She was a homemaker and was a member of the Commerce Church of God.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 23, at the Commerce Church of God with Pastors Gary Osteen and Melvin Kramer officiating. Burial was in the Commerce Church of God cemetery.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Grizzle is survived by her husband, Vernon Grizzle, Maysville; one son, James Lee Grizzle, Maysville; two daughters, Mary Ann Grizzle and Melissa Grizzle, both of Maysville; five sisters, Doris Ann Addison, Ella Mae Burnett and Patricia Smith, all of Gainesville, Wanda Anderson, Lula, and Evelyn Mull, North Carolina; and two brothers, Billy McConnell, Clermont, and Wayne McConnell, Gainesville.

CLERMONT - Mr. Marvin Allison, 56, died Tuesday, March 20, 2001, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Gainesville, following an extended illness.
A native of Forsyth County, Mr. Allison was born September 4, 1944, a son of the late Andrew and Fronie Grogan Allison.
He was a farmer and was of the Baptist faith.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 22, in Hillside Gardens, Gainesville, with the Revs. Dwight Woodall and Bill McDougal officiating.
Survivors include one son, Mickey C. Allison, Dawsonville; two daughters, Rhonda Victoria Allison, Clermont, and Sandy Yvonne Evans, Homer; two step-sons, Robert Gregory, Moncks Corner, S.C., and Chris Haynes, Paris, Mo.; two brothers, Dennis Allison, Gainesville, and Lenord Allison, Dahlonega; and four sisters, Roberta Abernathy and Rose O'Sheilds, both of Gainesville, Bobby Parker, Cumming, and Lila Fuller, Dahlonega.
