Rosa Mae Brown
Services for Rosa Mae Brown of Higgston were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1, at Sand Grove Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery.
The Rev. Prentice Herndon officiated.
Brown, 73, died Monday, Sept. 29, 2003. She was the daughter of the late Wallace and Eliza Walker and was the widow of John Henry Brown.
She was a native of Telfair County and was a homemaker.
Survivors included her sons, John R. Brown of Jacksonville, Ga., Ralph Brown of Normantown, and Michael Ray Brown of Vidalia; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Lowe’s Funeral Home of Helena was in charge of arrangements.
Alan James Clark
Graveside services for Alan James Clark of Jacksonville, Fla. were held Saturday, Sept. 27, in the Milan Cemetery.
The Dr. Myron Lane and David Clark officiated.
Clark, an infant, died Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2003. He was the son of Brett and Allison Jones Clark of Jacksonville, Fla.
In addition to his parents, survivors include his sister, Anna Clark; brothers, Adam Clark and Andrew Clark; maternal grandparents, Nancy Marchant Jones and Rob Jones of Milan; paternal grandmother, Helen Clark and the late W.V. Clark of Valdosta; and maternal great-grandmother, Fannie Jones Hurdis of Milan.
Stokes-Southerland Funeral Home of Eastman was in charge of arrangements.
Charles A. (Doc) Pittman Sr.
Services for Charles A. (Doc) Pittman Sr. of Eastman were held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 28, in Southerland Funeral Chapel in Eastman with interment in the Orphans Cemetery.
Aubrey Corbitt and Reggie Sheffield officiated.
Pittman, 82, died Friday, Sept. 26, 2003. He was the son of the late Clarence M. Pittman and Mary Sayers Pittman. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jane Newman Pittman.
He was a native of Elmore County, Ala. and had lived in Dodge County for the past 25 years. He was a member and a deacon of Eastman First Baptist Church, where he was a teacher of the Disciples of Christ Sunday school class. He was a World War II Veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy and a retired salesman for Reynolds Metal Company.
Survivors included his daughter, Carole J. Thomas of Inverness, Fla.; sons, Charles A. (Chuck) Pittman Jr. of Goldsboro, N.C. and Randy Pittman of Eastman; sisters, Marian Raines, Cleo Julian and Mary Jo Camp, all of Alabama; four grandchildren and one great-grandson.
In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Al Danner, 216 Dublin Highway, Eastman, Ga. 31023.

Beatrice Attaway Wells
Services for Beatrice Attaway Wells of Jacksonville, Ga. were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 28, at Blockhouse Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery.
The Rev. Sonny Pate officiated.
Wells, 82, died Friday, Sept. 26, 2003. She was the daughter of the late Henry and Sarah Hulett Attaway and was the widow of William Arthur Wells.
She was a native of Telfair County and had resided in Jacksonville for most of her life. She was a member of Blockhouse Baptist Church and was a retired teacher of 33 years.
Survivors included her daughters, Shirley Yaw of Albany and Brenda Tanner of TyTy; son, Larry Wells of Milan; sister, Gladys Harrell of Lakeland, Fla.; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association or the Blockhouse Baptist Cemetery Fund.

Helen “Tincy” Bailey Adams
Graveside services for Helen “Tincy” Bailey Adams were held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20 at Middleground Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Statesboro.
The Rev. Bill Perry officiated.
Adams, 100, died Thursday, Sept. 18, 2003. She was the widow of Michael Estus Akins.
She was a native of Wheeler County and lived for many years in Telfair County before moving to Summers Landing in Vidalia. She was a member of the Eric Christian Church.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
Clark Funeral Home of Hawkinsville was in charge of arrangements.
Ronald Butts Sr.
Funeral services for Ronald Butts Sr. of Cadwell were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20 at Ebenezer Baptist Church of Chauncey with interment in Ebenezer Cemetery in Chauncey.
The Elder Arthur L. Belcher officiated.
Butts, 53, died Sunday, Sept. 14, 2003. He was the son of Johnny Lee Butts, Sr. and the late Quincey Mae Butts. He was married to Barbara Jean Butts.
He was a native of Laurens County and was a faithful employee for Evans Cabinet Corp. of Dublin for 34 years.
In addition to his wife and father, survivors include daughters, Caprice Woodard of Eastman and Kemia Evans of Cadwell; son, Ronald Butts Jr. of Cadwell; brothers, Cleo Butts and Morgan Butts, both of Rochester, N.Y., Leo Butts, Sr. and Johnny Butts Jr,. both of Cadwell, Lindsey Butts and Gary Butts of Macon; sisters, Bernice Smith and Asilee Chess, both of Fairport, N.Y. and six grandchildren.
A.L. Spaulding Funeral Home of McRae was in charge of arrangements.
Elton L. Pete Joines
Funeral services for Elton L. Pete Joines of McRae were held at Rogers-Atkins Funeral Home in Salem, Ill. with interment in Summit Prairie Cemetery.
Joines, 87, died Wednesday, Sept. 17, 2003. He was the son of the late Elwood and Elizabeth Skinner Joines. He was the widower of Pauline Vandeveer Joines and was preceded in death by his sister, Naomi Everts.
He was a lifelong resident of Salem, Ill. and had resided in McRae the last few months. While residing in Salem he was a painter and retail store owner for several years. He served Salem as a city councilman, was a member of the Salem volunteer fire department for many years, past exalted ruler of the Sam Elks Club, an armed service veteran, a past member of Grace United Methodist Church and a member of the McRae United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his sons, Jack Joines of Warner Robins and Jim Joines of Glen St. Mary, Fla.; four grandsons, and seven great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made in his memory to the Grace United Methodist Church, Salem, Ill. or to the McRae United Methodist Church.
Vaughn Funeral Home of McRae was in charge of local arrangements.
Ada Mae Tarver
Funeral services for Ada Mae Tarver of Chauncey were held Saturday, Sept. 20 at 11 a.m. at Saint Tilla Holiness Church of Chauncey with interment in Cedar Grove Cemetery of Lumber City.
The Rev. Jessie Northcutt officiated.
Tarver, 68, died Monday, Sept. 15, 2003. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Warren Moss and a native of Telfair County. She was married to James Tarver, Jr.
In addition to her husband survivors included seven step-children, one sister, and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Henry Harvey (Tee) White
Services for Henry Harvey (Tee) White of Milan were held at 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18 at the Chapel of Lowe’s Funeral Home with interment in the Scotland Cemetery.
The Rev. Wayne Herrington officiated.
White, 72, died Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2003. He was the son of the late Charlie Lewis and Mary Elizabeth Graham White and was married to Joyce C. White of Milan.
He was a native of Wheeler County and was a mechanic at Hazlehurst Mills.
In addition to his wife, survivors include his sons, Bobby White of Milan, David White of Cedar Grove, Cecil White of Texas, and Fred White and Kenny White, both of McRae; daughters, Karen Kremser of Troutdale, Ore., Donna Brown of McRae and Becky Brown of Milan; sisters, Georgia Harrelson of Waycross, Lillie Pearl Johns of Scotland, Ruby Thigpen of Soperton and Doralee Ray of Scotland; brothers, T.L. White of North Carolina and James White of Scotland; 16 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
