GAINESVILLE - Mrs. Jimmie Lou Garrison Crane, 76, died Sunday, April 1, 2001, at New Horizon Nursing Home following an extended illness.
Mrs. Crane was born in Banks County, but had lived in Hall County for most of her life. She was a daughter of the late Nellie and Tencie Sheridan Garrison.
Mrs. Crane retired from Georgia Chair Company and was a member of Grove Level Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ollie Crane.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 3, in the chapel of Ward's Funeral Home, Gainesville, with the Rev. Clifford Allen officiating. Burial was in the Antioch Baptist Church cemetery, Lumpkin County.
Survivors include four sons, Marvin Crane, Gene Crane and Larry Crane, all of Gainesville, and Lee Roy Crane, Jefferson; one brother, George Alvin Garrison, Jackson County; seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

MR. HAWKINS
U.S. Navy veteran
WINDER - H.B. "Hill" Hawkins, 81, died Tuesday, April 3, 2001.
A lifelong resident of Barrow County, Mr. Hawkins was a son of the late Henry and Lizzie Mae Everett Hawkins.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a retiree of General Motors. Mr. Hawkins was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Imogene Davis Hawkins.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, April 5, at Union Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. J.C. Mitchell and Chris Conner officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Survivors include one son, Sammy Hawkins, Winder; three daughters, Bobbie Shipley, Bethlehem, Patsy Haney, Winder, and Suzy Spratlin, Monroe; one brother, Jack Hawkins, Auburn; two sisters, Mildred Willard, Lawrenceville, and Ruby Thornhill, Hoschton; 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
The family was to have received friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Carter Funeral Home, Winder.

MR. VOYLES
Owner of Voyles Used Cars
BRASELTON - William Voyles, 62, died Sunday, April 1, 2001, at his residence following an extended illness.
A native of Jackson County, Mr. Voyles was a son of Eva Irvin Voyles, Braselton, and the late Horace C. Voyles.
He was the owner of Voyles Used Cars for over 25 years and was a member of Suwanee Congregational Holiness Church.
In addition to his father, Mr. Voyles was preceded in death by a brother, Lewis Voyles.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, in the chapel of Hillside Funeral Home, Gainesville, with the Revs. Wayne Thomason and George Wooten officiating. Burial was in Hillside Gardens, Gainesville.
Mr. Voyles is survived by his wife of 28 years, Imogene Voyles, Braselton; son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Loyce Shoffeitt, Cleveland; sons, Eugene Cagle, Lula, and Allen Voyles, Henderson, N.C.; daughter, Betty Shoffeitt, Lula; daughters and sons-in-law, Geneva and Larry Jones, Flowery Branch, Joyce and Bobby Southers and Cheryl and Bobby Knapp, all of Gainesville, and Jane and Mike Lassiter, Henderson, N.C.; mother, Mrs. Eva Voyles; brothers, Bobby Voyles, Gainesville, Harold Voyles and Steve Voyles, both of Jefferson, and Elbert Voyles, Pendergrass; sisters, Betty Stephens and Mary Lee, both of Pendergrass, and Geraldine Brooks, Walhalla, S.C.; extended family, Mary and the late William L. Robinson, Kittrell, N.C.; 11 living grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

ATHENS - Mrs. Irene Katie Boren, 82, died Saturday, March 31, 2001.
Mrs. Boren was born September 11, 1918, in Georgia. She was a daughter of the late Mac C. and Bertha Louise Murphy Boren.
Mrs. Boren was a homemaker.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 1, in Gillsville cemetery with the Rev. Terry James officiating.
Mrs. Boren is survived by a brother, Robert Boren, Danielsville.

WINDER - Mrs. Reunette M. Lee, 87, died Tuesday, April 3, 2001.
A native and lifelong resident of Barrow County, Mrs. Lee was a daughter of the late Carse F. and Era Casper Morrow.
She was a retiree of Barrow Manufacturing Company, Winder. Mrs. Lee was preceded in death by her husband, Hoyt Lee, and two sons, William Lee and Mike Lee.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 5, in the chapel of Carter Funeral Home, Winder, with the Rev. Jeff Grubbs officiating. Burial will be in the Chapel Christian Church cemetery.
Survivors include one sister, Betty Skinner, Winder; three grandchildren, Staci Heaton, Commerce, Stephanie Coker, Monroe, and Chris Lee, Winder; seven great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family was to have received friends from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

WINDER - Willie Williamson, 71, a native of Barrow County, died Tuesday, March 27, 2001.
Funeral services were held Sunday, April 1, at Eberhart & Son Mortuary with the Rev. James Lyles officiating. Burial was in Appalachee Shoals Baptist Church, Bethlehem.
Survivors include one daughter, Dorothy Brickford, Jefferson; seven sons, Harry Hayes and James K. Hayes, both of Winder, Norris Williamson and Michael Williamson, both of Jefferson, David Williamson, Athens, and Willie Williamson, Buffalo, N.Y.; 16 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

BETHLEHEM - Grace Mae Chambers, 84, died Sunday, April 1, 2001.
A native of Barrow County, Chambers was a daughter of the late John William Chambers and Shara Watkins.
She had worked as a casket manufacturer and was a member of Solid Rock Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, at the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ, Winder, with the Revs. Ricky Tuggle and Lee Ayers officiating. Burial was in the Cedar Creek Baptist Church cemetery.
Survivors include one daughter, Martha Gazaway, Winder; two sisters, Frances Hall, Bethlehem, and Maggie Dean, Commerce; one brother, Willie Chambers, Winder; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

AUBURN - Mrs. Pauline B. Landers, 80, died Sunday, April 1, 2001.
A native of Jackson County, Mrs. Landers was a daughter of the late Marion and Estelle Howington Beck.
She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. Mrs. Landers was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Landers.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, in the chapel of Smith Funeral Home, Winder, with the Revs. William Clark and Joel Shadburn officiating. Burial was in Barrow Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include two daughters, Peggy Nix, Winder, and Kathy Gunter, Watkinsville; two sons, Donald Landers, Winder, and Billy Landers, Statham; one sister, Louise Landers, Braselton; one brother, Charles Beck, Winder; 14 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Owner of Costley Enterprises
AUBURN - Mack Costley, 63, died Wednesday, March 28, 2001.
Born in DeKalb County, Mr. Costley was a son of the late Ralph and Claudine Perry Costley.
He had resided in Auburn for the past 30 years and was the owner of Costley Enterprises.
Graveside services were held at 1 p.m. Friday, March 30, 2001, in the Harmony Grove United Methodist Church cemetery with the Rev. Nathaniel A. Long officiating.
Mr. Costley is survived by his wife, Ann Costley, Auburn; son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Lane Costley, Auburn; granddaughter, Katy Costley, Auburn; sisters, LaVerne Garrett, Suwanee, Sara Rappaport, Tucker, and LuAnn Duncan, Conyers; brothers, Billy Costley and Jerry Costley, both of Tucker, Ben Costley, Loganville, and Joe Costley, Marietta; mother-in-law, Lorene Allen, Atlanta; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Bob and Bernice Hendrix, Grayson; and brother-in-law, Michael Allen, Lawrenceville.

MR. CARLAN
World War II veteran
VALDOSTA - Ulysses Grant Carlan, 87, died Thursday, March 15, 2001.
Born in Banks County, Mr. Carlan was a son of the late Cashmir Pulaski Carlan and Theresa Mae Brooks Carlan.
He was a graduate of the U.S. Army War College at Carlilse Barracks, Penn., received his J.D. at Georgetown University and his B.S. at the University of Georgia. A veteran of World War II, Mr. Carlan retired from the U.S. Army as a Colonel.
He was preceded in death by a son, Wayne Carlan.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 19, in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home, Valdosta, with the Rev. Robert Willis officiating. Burial was in Arlington National Cemetery.
Mr. Carlan is survived by his wife, Dorothy Davison Carlan; one son, Stephen James Carlan, Orlando, Fla.; one daughter, Col. Laura Elizabeth Carlan Battle, Valdosta; two sisters, Bertha Thomas, Jefferson, and Kathleen Pruitt, Homer; and six grandchildren.

COMMERCE - Mrs. Ruth G. Elrod, 70, died Saturday, March 31, 2001, at BJC Medical Center, Commerce.
Mrs. Elrod was born in Georgia on March 5, 1931. She was a daughter of the late Johnny Dalton and Lillian Dill Baker.
Mrs. Elrod was a homemaker.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Monday, April 2, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce. Burial was in Grey Hill Cemetery, Commerce.
Survivors include five sons, Bamm Bamm Elrod and Dennis Elrod, both of Homer, Chris Elrod and Branham Elrod, both of Commerce, and Davy Elrod, Starr, S.C.; five daughters, Barbara Clark, Lula, June Ramos, Athens, Sandara Willis, Homer, Katina Elrod, Commerce, and Ruth Ann Smith, Baldwin; 26 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
