MAYSVILLE - Mrs. Dora B. Smith, 94, died Friday, February 2, 2001, at the BJC Nursing Center following an extended illness.
Mrs. Smith was born January 14, 1907, in Towns County, a daughter of the late David Jasper Underwood and Julia Elizabeth Clark.
She was a homemaker.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 4, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Rev. Henry Webb officiating. Burial was in the Harmony Christian Church cemetery, Commerce.
Survivors include three sons, B. Paul Smith, Pleasanton, Calif., and Jack T. Smith and James R. Smith, both of Maysville; one daughter, Betty Sims, Byron; 18 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

MRS. BROCK
Commerce native
HOMER - Mrs. Denise Beverly Brock, 34, died Wednesday, January 24, 2001, at her residence.
Mrs. Brock was born November 9, 1966, in Commerce, a daughter of Brenda R. Roberts, Homer, and the late David L. Clark.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 27, at Charity Baptist Church, Homer, with the Rev. Vaughn Howington officiating. Burial was in Grove Level Baptist Church cemetery.
Mrs. Brock is survived by her husband, Joe Brock, Homer; two sons, Joey Brock and Timothy Brock, both of Homer; one brother, Matthew Wayne Clark, Danielsville; one sister, Donna Jean Carlyle, Danielsville; and grandmother, Ruby D. Clark, Danielsville.

COMMERCE - Mrs. Mary Nell Edwards, 88, died Tuesday, January 23, 2001, at Hart County Hospital.
A native of Franklin County, Mrs. Edwards was born December 11, 1912, a daughter of the late T.O. and Maude Segars Varner.
She was a member of Bold Springs United Methodist Church.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 25, in the Bold Springs United Methodist Church cemetery with the Revs. Eddie Gordon and Tom Arnold officiating.
Survivors include two daughters, Cecelia Martin, Carnesville, and Melba Miller, Commerce; one son, Ronald Edwards, Carnesville; four sisters, Tharra Edwards, Marguerite Herbert and Betty Jean Gordon, all of Commerce, and Kathleen McCoy, Cornelia; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

MR. HENSLEY
Truck driver, farmer
MAYSVILLE - Philip Ray Hensley, 63, died Saturday, January 20, 2001, at his residence following a brief illness.
Born in Jackson County, N.C., Mr. Hensley was a son of the late Luther and Beatrice Hensley.
He was a truck driver, a farmer and was a member of Oconee Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Monday, January 22, at Oconee Baptist Church with the Revs. Kenneth Barrett and Eddie Herring officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery, Gainesville.
Mr. Hensley is survived by his wife, Barbara Hensley, Maysville; daughter and son-in-law, Dawn and Shain Parr, Maysville; son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Tracy Hensley, Maysville; granddaughters, Kelsie Parr and McKenzie; and grandsons, Nicholas Parr and Matthew Hensley.

MR. TURNER
Habersham County native
LULA - Luther "Luke" Turner, 57, died Monday, January 29, 2001, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Gainesville, following a brief illness.
Mr. Turner was born in Habersham County on March 25, 1943, a son of the late Lester "Lec" and Nellie Smith Turner.
He was co-owner of Smith and Turner Logging Equipment Sales and attended Belton Baptist Church. Mr. Turner was preceded in death by two brothers, Cecil and Larry Turner.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 1, at Belton Baptist Church with the Revs. Cecil Thomas, Henry Grady Barnes and Ralph O. Smith officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Turner is survived by his wife, Johnnie Griffin Turner, Lula; two sons, Steven Turner, Lula, and P. Scott Turner, Alpharetta; two brothers, Jack Turner, Lula, and Ronald Turner, Baldwin; two sisters, Delores Nalley, Norcross, and Lounell Armour, Lula; and two grandchildren, David McCormick and Jon Andrew Turner.
The family was to have received friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home, Cornelia.

COMMERCE - Danny Morgan Sorrow, 51, died Tuesday, January 23, 2001, at Athens Regional Medical Center.
A native of Greenville County, S.C., Mr. Sorrow was born August 19, 1949, a son of the late James Verner Sorrow and Jenny Standridge Sorrow Waters.
He was a carpenter and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Commerce.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 25, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Rev. John Turlington officiating. Burial was in Jackson Memorial Gardens, Commerce.
Survivors include one son, Lee Sorrow, Commerce; one daughter, Jennifer Sorrow, Commerce; one brother, Bryan "Huck" Sorrow, Commerce; five step-sisters and one step-brother.

Mrs. Sein San U is survived by her husband, Gyaw Jon Sein San U; children, Lillian, Sherwin, Dollar, and Bonsco, all of Burma, and Kendrick and Dana Sein San U, Maysville; and grandchildren, Molly, Amanda and Holly.
MR. THOMASON
World War II veteran
CORNELIA - Cleo Thomason, 91, died Wednesday, January 24, 2001, at Habersham County Medical Center following an extended illness.
Mr. Thomason was born September 7, 1909, in Banks County. He was a son of the late James and Laura Hendrix Thomason.
Mr. Thomas was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Cornelia Christian Church, where he served as a former deacon.
Mr. Thomason was preceded in death by his wife, Merlene Sutton Thomason, two sisters, Lessie Kesler and Viola Andrews, a brother, Albert Thomason, and brothers-in-law, Lonzo Smith and Cleve Andrews.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Friday, January 26, at Cornelia Christian Church with David Terrell officiating. Burial was in Yonah Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Ernest and Joan Thomason, Cornelia; three grandchildren, Ernie Thomason and Alesia Thomason, both of Gainesville, and Bill and Sheila Thomason, Cornelia; two great-grandchildren, Emily and Cloe Thomason, both of Cornelia; brothers and sisters-in-law, Dorsey and Bertie Ward and Chandler and Francine Ward, all of Cornelia; brother-in-law, Edward Kesler, Toccoa; sister, Monteen Smith, Toccoa; and sister and brother-in-law, Bertha and Roy T. BRASELTON - Mrs. Amanda Loggins Beck, 76, died Saturday, January 27, 2001, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Atlanta, following an extended illness.
A lifelong resident of Hall County, Mrs. Beck was a daughter of the late Charlie and Mary Lou Johnson Loggins.
She was a retired seamstress with Carwood Manufacturing and was a member of Dewberry Baptist Church #2.
She was loved by all who knew her, said family members.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, January 29, in the chapel of Little-Davenport Funeral Home, Gainesville, with the Revs. Roy Lee Mitchell and Earl Gilstrap officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery.

U.S. Army Air Corps veteran
DEMOREST - Henry A. Taylor, 87, died Sunday, January 28, 2001, at Habersham County Medical Center following a brief illness.
Mr. Taylor was born May 4, 1913, in Rabun County, a son of the late Walter and Lizzie Taylor.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, having served in China during World War II. Mr. Taylor was a self-employed carpenter, was a lifetime member of VFW Post 7720 and was of the Baptist denomination.
He was preceded in death by a step-son, Wayne Baker.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 30, in the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home, Cornelia, with the Rev. Paris Whitworth and Layman Lloyd Hunter officiating. Burial was in the VFW Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Taylor is survived by his wife, Della Whitworth Taylor, Demorest; two sons, Larry Taylor, Mt. Airy, and Ricky Lamar Taylor, Demorest; one step-daughter, Fay Anders, Hartwell; one step-son, Norman Baker, Mt. Airy; two brothers, David Taylor, Clayton, and Bobby Taylor, Little Rock, Ark.; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

DEMOREST - Mrs. Eliza Rudeseal Eller, 88, died Friday, January 26, 2001, at Greenville Memorial Hospital following injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Mrs. Eller was born August 1, 1912, in Greenville, S.C. She was a daughter of the late Will and Eliza Daniel Southerland.
Mrs. Eller was a homemaker and a member of Victory Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her first husband, the Rev. Doyle Rudeseal, and her second husband, the Rev. Henry Eller.
Mrs. Eller was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, January 28, at Hazel Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. Billy Burrell, Richard Horn and James Harvey officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include one daughter, Dorlyn Masters, Demorest; one son, Raymond Rudeseal, Mt. Airy; two step-daughters, Bobbie Jo Ramsey and Alene Gibby, both of Clarkesville; two step-sons, the Rev. Dan Eller, Mt. Airy, and John Eller, Trenton, Mo.; five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, 10 step-grandchildren and 24 step-great-grandchildren.
