MRS. MCKINSTRY
Texas native
HOMER - Mrs. Mary Elizabeth McKinstry, 71, died Sunday, January 21, 2001, at BJC Medical Center, Commerce, following a brief illness.
Mrs. McKinstry was born in Sugarland, Texas, on August 24, 1929, a daughter of the late John W. and Mary Savannah Nix Pollick.
She was a homemaker and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Cornelia.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, January 24, in the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home, Cornelia, with the Rev. Scott Wilson officiating.
Mrs. McKinstry is survived by her husband, Richard A. McKinstry, Homer; one daughter, Nikki Robinson, Flowery Branch; one son, Skip McKinstry, Oklahoma City, Okla.; two sisters, Eloise Lopez, California, and Silverene Eddleman, Richardson, Texas; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the American Lung Association, P.O. Box 725, Cornelia, GA 30531.
The body is at the funeral home where the family was to have received friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.
McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

MR. TABOR
U.S. Army veteran
COMMERCE - Willie L. Tabor, 85, of Commerce, died Monday, January 15, 2001.
Mr. Tabor was a native of Banks County. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served as a deacon at King Branch Baptist Church, Carnesville.
Mr. Tabor was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Tabor, and a daughter, Shirley Varnum.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 18, at King Branch Baptist Church with the Rev. James Ramey officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include three daughters, Gloria Cochran and Andria Lee Tabor, both of Athens, and Evelyn J. Gober, Dacula; and one son, William Van Tabor, Homer.
Moss-Stovall-Neal Funeral Home, Toccoa, was in charge of arrangements.

MR. HARRIS
Truck driver
COMMERCE - Henry C. Harris died Monday, January 15, 2001, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Gainesville, following an extended illness.
Mr. Harris was born April 29, 1938, a son of the late Henry Richard Harris and Elizabeth Towe Harris.
He was a truck driver, having worked for D&D Transportation for many years.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 18, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Revs. Henry Webb and Johnny Loudermilk officiating. Burial was in Banks Memorial Gardens, Homer, with military honors.
Mr. Harris is survived by his wife, Barbara Cowart Harris, Commerce; one son, Tracy Harris, Hartwell; one brother, James W. Harris, Hartwell; four sisters, Virginia Billings, Starr, S.C., Henrietta O'Dell and Mary Clark, both of Hartwell, and Betty Hulsey, Mt. Airy; and two grandchildren.
Ivie Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

MR. WORLEY
Banks County native
HOMER - Leon Worley, 80, died Friday, January 19, 2001, at BJC Medical Center, Commerce.
A native of Banks County, Mr. Worley was born July 11, 1920, a son of the late Rubin and Carrie Davis Worley.
He was retired from Garrison Lumber Company and was a member of Bethany Christian Church. Mr. Worley was preceded in death by his wife, Rosa Bruce Worley, and a brother, Rubin Worley Jr.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 21, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, with Jerry Payne and the Rev. William Campbell officiating. Burial was in the Silver Shoals Baptist Church cemetery.
Survivors include four brothers, Bobby Worley, Nicholson, Jack Worley, Winder, Lonnie Worley, Gainesville, and Roy Worley, Helen; three sisters, Mildred Green and Myrtle Lawson, both of Nicholson, and Ruby Standridge, Brockton Community; and nieces and nephews.
Little-Ward Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

MR. MASTERS
Carpenter
ALTO - Harlan Masters, 57, died Thursday, January 18, 2001, at his residence following an extended illness.
Mr. Masters was born March 5, 1943, in Rockdale County, a son of the late J.D. and Myrtice Wallraven Masters.
He was a carpenter and was a member of B.C. Grant Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 20, at Crossroads Baptist Church with the Revs. Jeff Lovell and Anthony Shore officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include two daughters, Debbie Swafford, Cumming, and Mary Ann Chavez, Fort Myers, Fla.; four sons, Kenny Masters, Warner Robbins, Dean McCranie, Cumming, Tom McCranie, Buford, and Jason Masters, Demorest; two sisters, Betty Chandler, Macon, and Christine Johnson, Alto; one brother, Terry Masters, Alto; and six grandchildren.
Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, was in charge of arrangements.

MISS HILL
Atlanta native
HULL - Miss Gina Hill, 40, died Saturday, January 20, 2001, at Scottland Memorial Hospital, Laurinburg, N.C.
Miss Hill was born July 23, 1960, in Atlanta. She was a daughter of Jean Hill, Maysville, and the late Clark Hill.
Miss Hill was employed with Red Lobster, Athens, and was of the Baptist denomination.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 23, at Ridgeway Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Manus officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Miss Hill is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Miranda Jean and Stacy Batchelor Sr., Marston, N.C.; two grandchildren, Brittany and Stacy Jr.; her fiancé, Wes Roberts, Athens; five sisters, Cindy Baird and Christy Phelps, both of Maysville, Pat Clinton, Commerce, Marcia Sullivan, Wagram, N.C., and Jennifer Wright, Conyers; two brothers, Bill Hill, McDonough, and Obie Faulkner, Maysville; six nieces, 13 nephews, two great-nieces and one great-nephew.
Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, was in charge of arrangements.

MR. AIKENS
Retired carpenter
NICHOLSON - James E. Aikens, 75, died Thursday, January 18, 2001, at BJC Medical Center, Commerce.
Mr. Aikens was born September 19, 1925, in Jackson County. He was a son of the late James Dick and Elsie Mae Aikens.
Mr. Aikens was a retired carpenter and was of the Baptist denomination.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 20, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Revs. Kenneth Dillard and James Ransom officiating. Burial was in Grey Hill Cemetery, Commerce.
Mr. Aikens is survived by his wife, Joyce M. Aikens, Nicholson; two sons, David Aikens, Braselton, and Edward Aikens, Commerce; three daughters, Bertie Hix, Maysville, Peggy Vandergriff, Pendergrass, and Janet Woodall, Nicholson; one brother, Richard Aikens, Gainesville; one sister, Mary Franklin, Braselton; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Little-Ward Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

MRS. GIPSON
Homemaker
CARNESVILLE - Mrs. Ebbie Gladys Chambers Gipson, 86, died Friday, January 19, 2001, at the Comer Nursing Center, Comer.
Mrs. Gipson was born March 17, 1914, in Banks County, a daughter of the late William S. and Mae Wood Chambers.
She was a homemaker and a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church. Mrs. Gipson was preceded in death by her husband, Ira Frank Gipson Jr., and a brother, J.M. Chambers.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 21, at B.D. Ginn Memorial Chapel of Ginn Funeral Home, Carnesville, with the Revs. Michael Bell and John H. Swanger officiating. Burial was in Franklin Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include two sons, Sonny Gipson and Tim Gipson, both of Carnesville; one daughter, Susie Coleman, Charleston, W. Va.; one sister, Edith Sullivan, Commerce; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Ginn Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

MR. SMITH
World War II veteran
NICHOLSON - Grady H. Smith Sr., 76, of Jefferson Drive, died Monday, January 22, 2001, at BJC Medical Center, Commerce.
Mr. Smith was born July 9, 1924, in Jackson County. He was a son of the late Curtis and Bessie Howington Smith.
Mr. Smith was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army, and was retired from Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce. He was a member of Nicholson Baptist Church and was a member of Hudson Lodge #294 F & AM.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 23, at Nicholson Baptist Church with the Revs. Ervin Goss and Warren Huddleston officiating. Burial was in Howington Cemetery, Nicholson.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Runelle McClure Smith, Nicholson; one son, Howard Smith, Commerce; three brothers, Charlie Smith, Dwayne Smith and Herman Smith, all of Nicholson; two sisters, Lanette Carter and Myrtice Clifton, both of Nicholson; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Eagle Ranch, P.O. Box 7200, Chestnut Mountain, GA 30502.

MRS. MOODY
Commerce First Baptist member
ATHENS - Mrs. Murwyn Massey Moody, 86, formerly of Commerce, died Wednesday, January 17, 2001.
A native of Jackson County, Mrs. Moody was a daughter of the late Curt and Hattie Short Massey. Her husband was the late Art Moody.
Mrs. Moody was a member of the First Baptist Church of Commerce.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 20, at the First Baptist Church of Commerce with Ray Austin and the Rev. Frank Granger officiating. Burial was in Grey Hill Cemetery, Commerce.
Mrs. Moody is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Greg Bickley, Athens; grandson, Matthew Bickley, Athens; brothers and sisters-in-law, Shelby and Rosemary Massey, Commerce, and Norman and Betty Massey, Goshen, N.J.; brother, Cody Massey, Cornelia; sisters, Ebby Hill, Columbia, S.C., and Everette Milford, Commerce; and sister and brother-in-law, Janell and Dan Chandler, Dalton.
Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, was in charge of arrangements.
