MR. BERRYMAN

HOSCHTON - James Lamar "Berry" Berryman, 86, died Tuesday, February 13, 2001, at Lanier Park Hospital, Gainesville, following an extended illness.
Born in Jackson County, Mr. Berryman was a son of the late C.T. and Cora McNeal Berryman.
He was a farmer and was a member of Walnut Fork Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. Mr. Berryman was preceded in death by his wife, Margie McEver Berryman, a brother, Loke Berryman, and a sister, Erminee Hulsey.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, February 15, at Walnut Fork Baptist Church with the Rev. Kenneth Brewer and Mr. Berryman's grandsons, David Wilkins and Farrell Wilkins, officiating. The body will lie in state from 2:30 to 3 p.m. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Grandsons and grandsons-in-law will serve as pallbearers.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Andrea and Lewis Craft, Winder, and Charlene and Hoyt Wilkins and Jean and James Wood, all of Hoschton; three sisters, Averee Langford, Winder, and Beatrice Cash and Inez Hill, both of Hoschton; two brothers, Charles Berryman, Braselton, and Arlen Berryman, Hoschton; nine grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
The family was to have received friends from 1 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Evans Funeral Home, Jefferson.

MRS. STANDRIDGE
Retired school teacher
COMMERCE - Mrs. Gladys Benton Standridge, 93, died Thursday, February 8, 2001, at Crystle Springs Nursing Home.
Mrs. Standridge was born October 26, 1907, in Jackson County. She was a daughter of the late Thomas Homer and Sara Elizabeth Harris Benton. She was the wife of the late Shankle Standridge.
Mrs. Standridge was a member of Cabin Creek Baptist Church, where she served as a teacher, treasurer, director of Vacation Bible School, president of W.M.U. and as secretary-treasurer of the Perpetual Care cemetery Fund.
She taught school in the Jackson County School System for 47 years, retiring in 1972. Mrs. Standridge was also a member of the Retired Teachers Association, where she served as secretary and treasurer, and was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Honor Society for teachers, serving as secretary and treasurer for a two-year term.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 10, at Cabin Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Troy Herbert officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include four sisters, Zelma Williams, Lavonia, Allene Harris, Hartwell, and Hortense Benton and Annette Richey, both of Commerce; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cabin Creek Perpetual Care cemetery Fund, 106 Nunn Street, Commerce, GA 30529.

Mother of four
JEFFERSON - Mrs. Betty Earlene Baird Fleeman, 67, died Wednesday, February 7, 2001.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Friday, February 9, at the First United Methodist Church of Jefferson.
Mrs. Fleeman is survived by children, Cornelius E. Fleeman IV, North Augusta, S.C., Susan E. Tuck, Marietta, Donna L. Williamson, Winder, and Jonathan A. Fleeman, Atlanta; brothers, Marvin Baird, Hull, and J.R. Baird Jr., Winder; sisters, Mattie Lee Baker, Trinity, N.C., Darlene Hembree, Greensboro, N.C., Curtistine Massey-Bruce, Nicholson, and Ester Summers, Bartow, Fla.; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m Friday, February 9, at the Nicholson Congregational Holiness Church.

Former BJC Medical Center employee
COMMERCE - Mrs. Jackie Dianne Potts, 51, died Saturday, February 10, 2001, at BJC Medical Center, Commerce, following an extended illness.
A native of Jackson County, Mrs. Potts was a daughter of the late Jack and Dorothy Hogwood Langston. She was the widow of James Thomas Potts.
Mrs. Potts had been employed with BJC Medical Center.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Monday, February 12, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Revs. Donald Wilson and Charles Hardy officiating. Burial was in Grey Hill Cemetery, Commerce.
Survivors include one daughter, Shannon Potts, Commerce; one brother, David Potts, Hull; one sister, Regena Knight, Commerce; and one grandson.

MR. COLLINS
Purple Heart recipient
COLLINS - Leavy Collins, 78, died Thursday, February 8, 2001, at his residence.
Mr. Collins was a son of Asa Collins. He was a veteran of World War II, having received a Purple Heart while serving in France and North Africa. Mr. Collins was a retired correctional officer for Reidsville Georgia State Prison.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 10, in the chapel of Kennedy Morgan Funeral Home, Cobb Town. Burial was in the Conner Baptist Church cemetery, Collins.
Mr. Collins is survived by his wife, Irma Jean Sykes Collins; daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Morris Lively, Collins, and Barbara and Randy Hackel, Metter; daughter, Vicky Gaffney and husband, Lyons; sons, Wayne Leavy Collins, Jefferson, R.D. Collins, Reidsville, and George D. HOMER - Mrs. Lillie Mae Parson Garrison, 92, died Friday, February 9, 2001, at Scenic View Health Care Center, Baldwin.
A native of Banks County, Mrs. Garrison was born January 5, 1909, a daughter of the late Garnett and Minnie Sheridan Parson. She was the wife of the late O.S. Garrison.
Mrs. Garrison was a member of Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by two sons, M.E. "Buster" Garrison Sr. and Herbert D. Garrison Sr., and a granddaughter, Ramona Garrison.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, February 11, at Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church with the Rev. Phil Ferguson, Jerry Payne and the Rev. Jim McLendon officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include one sister, Rose Jones, Homer; grandchildren, Mack E. Garrison, Herbert "Bo" Garrison Jr. and Donna G. Payne, all of Homer, Paulina G. Casper, Maysville, and Oscar S. Garrison II, Hoschton; daughters-in-law, Syble Garrison and Betty G. Strickland, both of Homer; and 13 great-grandchildren.

MRS. HUGHES

ATHENS - Mrs. Veronica "Ronnie" Hughes, 75, a native of Grand Fork, N.D., died Monday, February 12, 2001.
Mrs. Hughes was the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Schinider Deitz and the widow of the late John Frank Hughes.
She worked in the shipyards during World War II and later worked at Thomas Textile Manufacturing for a number of years. Mrs. Hughes had made her home in Athens for the past 55 years and was a member of Unity Christian Church, Maysville.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, February 15, in the chapel of Bridges Funeral Home, Athens, with the Rev. Ray Fumea and Linwood Smith officiating. Burial will be at 4:30 p.m. in the Unity Christian Church cemetery with Minister Dennis Harris officiating. Dorsey Campbell, Wesley Hughes, Cecil Highfield, Mark Chancey, Dough Roskam and Frank Strickland Jr. will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Hughes is survived by three daughters, Margaret Chancey, Bethlehem, Cindy Childs, Commerce, and Mary Perry, Hull; three sons, Alan W. Hughes, Athens, Ned Hughes, Watkinsville, and Jeff Hughes, Flowery Branch; one brother, LeRoy Deitz, Frazee, Minn.; 13 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family was to have received friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday and from 2 p.m. until the time of the service on Thursday.

MR. WOFFORD
Roper Pump retiree
COMMERCE - John C. Wofford, 86, died Wednesday, February 14, 2001, at BJC Nursing Home, Commerce.
A native of Banks County, Mr. Wofford was born April 10, 1914, a son of the late James David and Vester Haggard Wofford.
He was retired from Roper Pump Company. Mr. Wofford was preceded in death by a daughter, Jane Watson.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, February 16, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, with Jerry Payne officiating. Burial will be in Jackson Memorial Gardens, Commerce.
Mr. Wofford is survived by his wife, Louise Owenby Wofford, Commerce; three sons, Jimmy Bray and Clay Wofford, both of Commerce, and Curtis Wofford, Clayton; five daughters, Alice Colquitt, Lexington, Lou Ann David and Trell Wilson, both of Commerce, Vester Hardman, Athens, and Elaine Rucker, Elberton; one brother, Jessie Wofford, Locust Grove; two sisters, Syble Farmer, Jonesboro, and Agnes Maxwell, Commerce; 18 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

MR. PUCKETT
U.S. Army veteran
WINDER - Simon Grady Puckett, 82, died Tuesday, February 13, 2001.
Born in Oglethorpe County, Mr. Puckett was a son of the late E. Anderson and Azalee Hayes Puckett.
He had been a resident of Barrow County for the past 55 years and was a retiree of the Georgia Power Company, with 35 years of service. Mr. Puckett was also a retired volunteer fireman with the Winder Fire Department, with 20 years of service.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II, and was a member of the Winder First Baptist Church and the Winder Masonic Lodge #333 F. & A.M.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 16, in the chapel of Carter Funeral Home, Winder, with the Rev. John Talley officiating. Burial will be in Barrow Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Puckett is survived by his wife, Clara Hogan Puckett, Winder; one daughter, Milly Hammett, Lawrenceville; one son, Calvin Puckett, Winston-Salem, N.C.; four sisters, Dorothy Busbin and Maggie Puckett, both of Athens, Rosa Harrison, Decatur, and Ann Lord, Center; three brothers, Carroll Puckett, Milton Puckett and Billy Puckett, all of Athens; three grandchildren, two great-grandsons and a number of nieces and nephews.

CLERMONT - Mrs. Stella Mae Dills Truelove, 42, died Sunday, February 11, 2001, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Gainesville.
Born in Lumpkin County, Mrs. Truelove had lived in Hall County for most of her life. She was a daughter of David F. Dills, Gainesville, and the late Louise Dispain.
Mrs. Truelove was a member of Community Chapel Congre-gational Holiness Church. She was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Dills.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, February 14, at Community Chapel Congre-gational Holiness Church with the Revs. Fred Ray and Kim Wolfe officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
In addition to her father, Mrs. Truelove is survived by her husband, Bret W. Truelove, Clermont; daughter, Misty N.
