Mrs. Daisy L. Baird, 79, of Danielsville, died Sunday, February 18, 2001, at BJC Medical Center, Commerce.
Mrs. Baird was born January 16, 1922, in Athens, a daughter of the late Henry Lee and Ellie Mae Shubert Whitfield.
She was a homemaker. Mrs. Baird was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Baird.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, February 20, at Galilee Holiness Church with the Revs. Larry Dyer and Toby Dyer officiating. Burial was in the Galilee Holiness Church cemetery.
Survivors include two sons, David Baird, Gainesville, and Perry Baird, Danielsville; three daughters, Joyce Baird, Colbert, Nancy Nunn, Crawford, and Sandra Wilson, Jefferson; one sister, Louise Dyer, Danielsville; 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Tom W. Swindle
Tom Watson Swindle, 87, of Commerce, died Monday, February 19, 2001.
A native of Madison County, Mr. Swindle was a son of the late Henry and Elizabeth Fitzpatrick Swindle.
He was retired from Harmony Grove Textiles, with more than 40 years of employment, and was a member of Blacks Creek Primitive Baptist Church. Mr. Swindle was also a member of John H. Jones Masonic Lodge #348, A&FM, Danielsville.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 21, in the chapel of Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, Danielsville, with the Revs. Albert Vaughn and Douglas Duncan officiating. Burial was in Ila Cemetery. Billy Culbertson, Junior Shields, Clayton Bryant, Donald Seagraves, Pat Seagraves and Myron Seagraves served as pallbearers.
Mr. Swindle is survived by his wife, Mattie Lou Haggard Swindle; son and daughter-in-law, Leon and Carolyn Swindle, Gainesville; sisters, Hedy King and Lurene Dora, both of Florida, Blanche Swindle, Gainesville, and Henrietta Kellum, Commerce; brother, Ford Swindle, Fayetteville; grandchildren, Tommy and Nancy Swindle, Terry and Tricia Swindle and Mark Swindle, all of Gainesville; great-grandchildren, Ashley and Katie Swindle; and several nieces and nephews.

James D. Fouche Sr.
James Daniel "Bub" Fouche Sr., 70, of Danielsville, died Wednesday, February 14, 2001.
A native of Madison County, Mr. Fouche was a son of the late Albert Franklin and Vera Stone Fouche.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Korean Conflict, and was a retired plumber contractor with Fouche Plumbing Inc. Mr. Fouche was also a farmer and was a member of Providence Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Beatenbough.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 17, at Providence Baptist Church with the Revs. Dayton Logan and Albert Vaughn officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mike Fouche, Jason Fouche, Lee Adams, Russ Adams, Randy Smith and Dan Jones served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Junior McGee, Tim Hardman, O.C. Mannozzi, Dennis Adams, Jerry Skelton and Lee Rowe.
Mr. Fouche is survived by his wife, Evelyn Clark Fouche; daughters and sons-in-law, Kay and Herman Dawson and Libby and Arlen Johnson, all of Danielsville, and Lisa and John Brennan, Watkinsville; sons and daughters-in-law, Dan and LeAnn Fouche, Danielsville, and Tony and Joan Fouche, Colbert; one sister, Jackie Adams, Hull; five grandchildren, one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Edith L. Watson
Mrs. Edith Laura Palmer Watson, 81, of Athens, died Wednesday, February 14, 2001.
A native of Madison County, Mrs. Watson was a daughter of the late George and Annie Wade Palmer.
She was a homemaker and had attended Church of the Lord Jesus Christ, Watkinsville. Mrs. Watson was preceded in death by her husband, Cartee Watson.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, February 16, in the chapel of Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, Danielsville, with the Revs. Douglas Hammond and Nathan Palmer officiating. Burial was in the Vineyards Creek Baptist Church cemetery. Mrs. Watson's grandsons served as pallbearers.
Survivors include three daughters, Joann Howard, McDonough, Shirley Wilbanks, Athens, and Wanda Capes, Alto; two sons, William Watson, Milledgeville, and O.D. Watson, Athens; three sisters, Pauline Seay, Danielsville, and Dorothy Morris and Flora Brown, both of Colbert; one brother, Billy Palmer, Comer; nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Mozelle V. Parks
Mrs. Mozelle Virginia Parks, 63, of Clarkesville, died Tuesday, February 6, 2001, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Gainesville, following an extended illness.
A native of White County, Mrs. Parks had lived in Hall and Habersham counties for most of her life. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist denomination.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Thursday, February 8, in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home, Gainesville, with the Rev. Robbie Foster and Wayne Bryant officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery, Gainesville.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, David and Penny Parks, Gainesville; daughter, Linda Sue Bell, Clarkesville; four sisters, Mary Lee Petitt, Demorest, Margaret Pierce, Lula, Georgia Gee, Danielsville, and Sue Nix, Mt. Airy; and eight grandchildren.

PENDERGRASS - Mrs. Ethelene Black, 88, died Monday, February 19, 2001, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Gainesville.
A native of Banks County, Mrs. Black was born May 30, 1912, a daughter of the late Henry and Genie Presley Hagwood.
She was a homemaker and a member of Free Chapel Worship Center, Gainesville. Mrs. Black was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest J. Black, and a daughter, Eloise Brown.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, February 21, in the chapel of Jackson Funeral Home, Jefferson, with the Rev. Jake Davis officiating. Burial was in the Riverside Baptist Church cemetery.
Survivors include four daughters, Ruby Wall and Ann Garrett, both of Winder, Edna McClain, Pendergrass, and Gladys Faulkner, Talmo; four sons, Ralph Black, Larry Black and Gene Black, all of Pendergrass, and Harold Black, Banks County; three sisters, Jewell Lynn, Flowery Branch, Mozelle Miller, Chamblee, and Linnis Davis, Monroe; 25 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

COMMERCE - Ms. Marilyn Landreth, 66, formerly of Winder, died Wednesday, February 14, 2001.
Born in Blue Ridge, Ms. Landreth was a daughter of the late Samuel and Minnie Edwards Bennett.
She was a housewife and was a member of St. Anthony's Episcopal Church, Winder.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 17, in the Young's Chapel Baptist Church cemetery, Blue Ridge, with the Rev. Max Curtis officiating.
Survivors include one son, George Henson, Commerce; one sister, Birda Garrin, Blue Ridge; and two brothers, Don Bennett, McCaysville, and Wendel Bennett, Epworth.

Retired dietician
NICHOLSON - Mrs. Frances Baxter, 52, died Friday, February 16, 2001, at Athens Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Baxter was born August 30, 1948, in Jackson County. She was a daughter of Mamie McKie Baxter, Nicholson, and the late Willie Baxter.
Mrs. Baxter was a retired dietician and was a member of Cabin Creek Baptist Church, Commerce.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 18, at Cabin Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. Troy Herbert and Kenneth Segars officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include three brothers, Billy Baxter, Bishop, J.D. Baxter, Washington, and Jerry Baxter, Nicholson; three sisters, Debbie Baxter and Betty Silman, both of Nicholson, and Mary Hix, Toccoa; and several nieces and nephews.

WINDER - Clark Gable "Gabe Pop" Moon, 65, died Friday, February 16, 2001.
Mr. Moon was a native of Walton County. He was a farmer.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, February 19, in the chapel of Carter Funeral Home, Winder, with the Rev. Steve Whisnant officiating. Burial was in the Bay Creek Baptist Church cemetery, Loganville.
Mr. Moon is survived by his wife, Linda Moon, Winder; two daughters, Linda Wallace, Commerce, and Gayla Novlah, Winder; one son, William Walter Moon, Winder; two brothers, Mosey Moon, Loganville, and Jimmy Moon, Bethlehem; one sister, Nell Crisswell, Loganville; seven grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

MR. VENABLE
U.S. Air Force retiree
COMMERCE - William Venable Jr., 50, died Sunday, February 18, 2001, at BJC Medical Center, Commerce.
A native of Jackson County, Mr. Venable was born February 9, 1951, a son of William Venable Sr. and Annie Ruth Standridge Venable, Commerce.
He was retired from the U.S. Air Force and was a member of Living Word Worship Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 22, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Revs. Dennis Kesler, Howard Rhodes and Ronald Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Howington Cemetery, Nicholson.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Venable is survived by his wife, Roberta Wilson Venable, Commerce; one son, Larry Venable, Copperas Cove, Texas; one brother, Allen Venable, Lula; two sisters, Connie Garner, Maysville, and Diane Matthews, Commerce; and three grandchildren.
The family was to have received friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
