Mary Lou Young
Services for Mary Lou Young of Helena were held at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Lowe’s Funeral Home with interment in the Helena City Cemetery. The Rev. Mike Pollard and the Rev. Bob Williams officiated.
Young, 76, died Friday, Nov. 28, 2003. She was the daughter of the late J.C. and Maggie P. Register Ashley and was the widow of Vernon Young.
She was a native of Dodge County and resided in Telfair County most of her life. She was a member of Helena Baptist Church and was a homemaker.
Survivors include her daughter, Glenda Cook of Helena; sons, Shelton Young of Perry, Gerald Young and Wesley Young, both of McRae and Larry Young of Helena; brother, Leslie Register of Jacksonville, Fla.; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Lowe’s Funeral Home of Helena was in charge of arrangements.
Yvonne Jeffries
Services for Yvonne Jeffries of McRae were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22 at the Religious Center of McRae with interment in the Pine Acres Cemetery.
The Rev. Michael McMillian officiated.
Jeffries, 37, died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2003. She was the daughter of the late Luke McRae and Mary S. Harris and was married to Carl Jeffries of McRae. She was a native of Telfair County.
In addition to her husband, survivors include her children, Ervin McRae and Eric Jeffries, both of McRae and Shalotta Jeffries of Savannah; two step children, Shaqueuna Kates and Joshua Jeffries; sisters, Alma J. McRae of Patterson, N.J., Mary A. Aikens and Ruby J. Pierce, both of McRae, Mable J. McRae of Lumber City; brothers, Author Harris and Bobby Harris, both of McRae and James Trimmer of Eastman and five grandchildren.
A.L. Spaulding Funeral Home of McRae was in charge.
Debra McDuffie
Services for Debra McDuffie of McRae were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 22 at the Central Gym of McRae with interment in the Milan Cemetery.
The Rev. W. L. McCloud officiated.
McDuffie, 36, died Friday, Nov. 14, 2003. She was the daughter of Mary Alice McKinnon and the late Morris McDuffie.
She was a native of Telfair County and worked at Goldkist Poultry Company and was a member of New Shiloh Baptist Church.
In addition to her mother, survivors include her children, Kendra Denise and Malik Charvez McDuffie of McRae; grandmother, Alice Parker; brothers and sisters, Sally Kilpatrick, Brenda James, Alice Lamb, Tarsha Mincey, Michael Mincey, Jennifer James, Bernitha Walker, Reginald McDuffie, Morris McDuffie Jr., and Tuesday McDuffie.
A.L. Spaulding Funeral Home of McRae was in charge.
Elouise Harvey McDuffie
Services for Elouise Harvey McDuffie of Alamo were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15 at Spaulding Grove Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery.
The Rev. Larry Harvey officiated.
McDuffie, 65, died Monday, Nov. 10, 2003. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Harvey and was the widow of Theodore Roosevelt McDuffie Jr. She was a native of Wheeler County.
Survivors include her children, Brenda Clements of Helena, Mary Alice McDuffie and Theodore R. McDuffie III, both of Alamo, Terry McDuffie of Vidalia and Eddie McDuffie of Frankfurt, Germany; sisters, Marion Jenkins, Clara Harvey and Beulah Hobbs; brothers, Roosevelt Hudgens, Willie Harvey, Curtis Harvey, Ulysses Harvey and Rev. Larry Harvey; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Chris “Buddy” Robert Spires
Services for Chris “Buddy” Robert Spires of Columbus were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19 at the Striffler-Hamby Mortuary Macon Road Chapel with interment in Parkhill Cemetery.
The Rev. David Howle officiated.
Spires, 66, died Sunday, Nov. 16, 2003. He was the son of Ethel Bowen Spires and the late Chris Spires of McRae and was married to Elizabeth JoAnn Spires of Columbus.
He was employed by Creative Builders of Columbus and was a member of the Edgewood Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife and mother, survivors include his son, Michael Spires of Columbus; daughter, Darlene Howard of Cataula; sisters, Betty Rawlins and Sharon Harris, both of McRae and two grandchildren.
Striffler-Hamby Mortuary of Columbus was in charge.
Katie Mae Brown Stone
Services for Katie Mae Brown Stone of McRae were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 24 in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with interment in the Telfair Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
The Rev. Bill Jones officiated.
Stone, 74, died Saturday, Nov. 22, 2003. She was the daughter of the late John Harvey and Mary Lou Jones Brown and was the widow of Aubrey Stone. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Faye A. Strom.
She was co-founder and owner/operator of Cedar Lane Supper Club, Parker House Inn and Cedar Lane Services.
Survivors include her son, Ronnie Smith of Vidalia; daughter, Bonnie Lee Green of McRae; brothers, Cleon Brown of McRae and Millard Brown of Valdosta; half brother, James Brown of Savannah; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Contributions may be made to Community Hospice Building Fund, P.O. Box 2277, Vidalia, Ga. 30475.
Vaughn Funeral Home of McRae was in charge.
Mary Elizabeth Williams
Services for Mary Elizabeth Williams of McRae were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 15 at Central Valley Baptist Church in McRae with interment in the Pine Acres Cemetery.
The Rev. Edward Johnson officiated.
Williams, 90, died Saturday, Nov. 8, 2003. She was the daughter of the late Lewis and Annie Mobley Collins and was the widow of Jesse Williams.
A native of Telfair County, she had resided in New York for 45 years before returning to McRae. She was a member of Central Valley Missionary Baptist Church of McRae and served as a volunteer Pink Lady at the Telfair Regional Hospital and as a volunteer juice lady at the McRae Manor Nursing Home.
Survivors include her sister, Edna Estella Williams of McRae; stepchildren, W.T. West of Norfolk, Va. and Willie Mae Reid of Chesapeake, Va. and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Maude Daniels
Maude Daniels of McRae were held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8 at New Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church of McRae with interment in Pine Acres Cemetery.
The Rev. W.L. McCloud officiated.
Daniels, 96, died Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2003. She was the daughter of the late Cary and Mary Batten and was the widow of Tommie Lee Daniels. She was preceded in death by a son, Ernest Coley.
Survivors include her sisters, Mattie B. Caesar and Ola Mae Jones, both of McRae; brother, Thurman Batten of McRae; daughter-in-law, Jesse Coley of Chester, Pa.; granddaughter, Kay Coley of Chester, Pa.; caregiver, Vera Ross and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ralph Edwin Geiger Sr.
Graveside services for Ralph Edwin Geiger Sr. of Huntsville, Ala. were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12 at Macon Memorial Park.
Geiger, 75, died Friday, Nov. 7, 2003. He was married to Gaynell Geiger.
He was a native of Telfair County and was a graduate of Georgia Tech in 1950. He was one of the original members of the Von Braun Team at Marshall Space Flight Center.
In addition to his wife, survivors include his son, Ralph E. Geiger, Jr. of Huntsville, Ala. and sister, Colleen G. Smith of Lake Park.
Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home of Macon was in charge of arrangements.
Emmitt Tillman Lowery
Services for Emmitt Tillman Lowery of Milan were held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13 with interment in Sand Grove Cemetery.
The Rev. Myron Lane officiated.
Lowery, 78, died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2003. He was the son of the late Grover P. Lowery and Ollie Mae Durden Lowery and was married to Myrtice Walker Lowery of Milan.
He was a native of Laurens County but he had resided in Dodge County for the past several years. He was a member of Milan Baptist Church, a retired civil service employee of Warner Robins Air Force Base and was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army.
In addition to his wife, survivors include his sons, Emmitt T. Lowery Jr. of Milan and Todd Lowery of Rhine; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Stokes-Southerland Funeral Home of Eastman was in charge of arrangements.
