Thurmond Dalton
Thurmond Dalton, 56, of Canon, died Friday, March 2, 2001, at Ty Cobb Hospital.
Mr. Dalton was born March 15, 1944, in Georgia, a son of Guy Dalton, Ila, and Ellaree Wade, Alto.
He was a logger.
Mr. Dalton was preceded in death by a son, Jeffery Dalton.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 4, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Rev. Doug Duncan officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church cemetery, Alto.
Survivors include three daughters, Cynthia Bond, Royston, and Gail Sellers and Pam Dellinger, both of Danielsville; seven brothers, Charles Dalton and Earl Dalton, both of Colbert, Guy Dalton, Gainesville, Melvin Dalton, Lloyd Dalton and William R. Dalton, all of Danielsville, and Gene Wade, Alto; two sisters, Carol Dalton, Danielsville, and Ruth Kesler, Homer; and eight grandchildren.
Ivie Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Eula G. Wilson
Mrs. Eula Gladys Wilson, 88, of Commerce, died Saturday, March 3, 2001, at her residence.
Mrs. Wilson was born November 19, 1912, in Georgia, a daughter of the late Rossie Brown.
She had worked as a sales clerk with Commerce Sports Wear.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 5, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, with Pastor Jeff Coalson and the Rev. Curtis Green officiating. Burial was in the Wilson Family Cemetery, Commerce.
Survivors include two sons, Dwight Wilson, Nicholson, and Johnny Wilson, Commerce; four daughters, Betty F. Hanley, Hull, Elizabeth Nelms, Commerce, Linda Lassiter, Athens, and Sarah Raulerson, Homer; 34 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Ivie Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Barbara J. Allen
Mrs. Barbara Jean Allen, 59, of Colbert, died Friday, March 2, 2001.
A native of Madison County, Mrs. Allen was a daughter of the late Paul and Nell Phillips David.
She was a homemaker and of the Baptist denomination. Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by her husband, Cleveland Dewitt Allen.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 5, in the Meadow Baptist Church cemetery with the Revs. Tony Lee and Ray Jenkins officiating.
Survivors include three daughters, Deborah Epps and Dawn Renea Allen, both of Colbert, and Donna Thompson, Hull; one step-daughter, Elaine Threlkeld, Ila; one step-son, Douglas Dewitt Allen, Athens; two sisters, Frances Nelms, Jasper, and Mary Ann Wood; one brother, Kenneth David, Elberton; and three grandchildren.
Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, Madison Chapel, Danielsville, was in charge of arrangements.

MR. WILLIAMSON
Jackson County native
JEFFERSON - Phillip C. Williamson, 70, died Friday, March 2, 2001, at BJC Medical Center, Commerce.
A native of Jackson County, Mr. Williamson was born August 19, 1930, a son of the late George Owen and Ruby Mae Anglin Williamson.
He had been self-employed, having retired, and was a member of Arcade Presbyterian Church, Jefferson. Mr. Williamson attended Arcade School.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 4, in the chapel of Jackson Funeral Home, Jefferson, with the Rev. Hulon Hill officiating. Burial was in the Williamson Family Cemetery, Arcade.
Mr. Williamson is survived by his wife, Gladys Gurley Williamson; daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda and Joe Massey, Commerce, Joy and Glen Hacker, Jefferson, and Patricia and Toby Evans, Rutledge; brother, Slim Williamson, Jefferson; 10 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to BJC Nursing Home, 100 Medical Center Dr., Commerce, GA 30529.
Jackson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

MRS. JACKSON
Bethany UMC member
JEFFERSON - Mrs. Latrelle Glenn Jackson, 88, died Thursday, March 1, 2001, at Russell Nursing Home, Winder, following an extended illness.
A native of Jackson County, Mrs. Jackson was a daughter of the late Will R. and Mattie Venable Glenn.
She was retired from Harmony Grove and the Jackson County Senior Citizen's Center. Mrs. Jackson was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lam G. Jackson.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 3, at Bethany United Methodist Church with the Rev. Hulon Hill officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, L.G. and Carolyn Jackson, Winder; daughter and son-in-law, Mattie Lou and Frank Hix, Winder; grandchildren, Melissa Jackson Nunnally, Greg Hix, Michael Jackson and Marsha Hix Norris; six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Evans Funeral Home, Jefferson, was in charge of arrangements.

MRS. HANLEY
Antique dealer
COMMERCE - Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Anderson Hanley, 73, died Sunday, March 4, 2001, at Athens Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.
A native of Jackson County, Mrs. Hanley was born June 13, 1927, a daughter of the late Julian and Hattie Wheeler Anderson.
She was retired from Harmony Grove and was an antique dealer. Mrs. Hanley was a member of Living Word Worship Center, Jefferson.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, at Living Word Worship Center with the Revs. Richard James, Dennis Kesler, Terry Chambers and Mark Mobley officiating. Burial was in Jackson Memorial Gardens, Commerce.
Mrs. Hanley is survived by her husband, James Mitchell Hanley, Commerce; two sons, Jerry Hanley, Jefferson, and Terry Hanley, Rome; two brothers, Hoyt Anderson and J.P. Anderson, both of Athens; three sisters, Lorene Guest, Toccoa, and Mildred Hix and Marie Turner, both of Atlanta; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Living Word Worship Center Building Fund, P.O. Box 674, Jefferson, GA 30549.
Evans Funeral Home, Jefferson, was in charge of arrangements.

MR. SEIN SAN U

TOUNGOO, BURMA - Gyaw Jon Sein San U, 100, passed away recently.
Mr. Sein San U was preceded in death by his wife, Dawn Aye Nu Sein San U.
A memorial service was held at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 4, at Rogers Baptist Church with the Rev. Carlton Peters officiating.
Mr. Sein San U is survived by Bonsco, Sherwin and Lillian Sein San U, all of Toungoo, Burma, and Kendrick and Dana Sein San U, Maysville; and granddaughters, Amanda and Holly.

MR. AUSTIN
Welder
COMMERCE - Michael Rogers Austin, 46, died Wednesday, February 28, 2001, at his residence.
Mr. Austin was born December 24, 1954, in Jackson County, a son of the late Dewey W. and Willie Mae Akins Austin.
Mr. Austin was employed as a welder and was a member of Little Country Church.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 3, at Little Country Church with the Rev. Jimmy Owensby officiating. Burial was in Howington Cemetery, Nicholson.
Mr. Austin is survived by his wife, Linda Faye Motes Austin, Flowery Branch; two daughters, Kara Austin, Winder, and Mandy Austin, Jefferson; four step-sons, John Davidson, Winder, Michael Davidson, Danielsville, Ray Jones, Flowery Branch, and Jason Smith, Trion; seven brothers, Billy Austin, Hull, Filix Austin, Jefferson, Jeffery Austin, Statham, Kimsey Austin and Leon Austin, both of Danielsville, and Pete Austin and Sonny Austin, both of Commerce; three sisters, Elizabeth Easterwood, Vero Beach, Fla., Gail O'Kelly, Commerce, and Mildred Whitlock, Danielsville; and five step-grandchildren.
Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, was in charge of arrangements.

MR. POPE
Electrician, plumber
JEFFERSON - Walter DeLeon Pope, 43, died Thursday, March 1, 2001, at Crawford Long Hospital following an extended illness.
Mr. Pope was born March 6, 1957, in Fulton County. He was a son of Sidney L. and Betty N. Howard Pope, Jefferson.
Mr. Pope was employed as an electrician and plumber and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Jefferson. He was the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. W.D. Howard, Jefferson, and the late Mr. and Mrs. J.O. Pope Sr., Covington.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 4, in the chapel of Evans Funeral Home, Jefferson, with the Revs. Kevin Page and Tilly Welborn officiating. Burial was in the Howard Family Cemetery, Jefferson. Mr. Pope's sons and brothers served as pallbearers.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Pope is survived by his wife, Cynthia Pope, Jefferson; three sons, Jody Lee Pope, Canton, Joshua Eugene Pope, Gillsville, and Walter Duane Pope, Jefferson; one daughter, Leslie Elaine Pope, Jefferson; three brothers, Kevin Pope, Jefferson, Lanny Pope, Commerce, and Lee Pope, Covington; and one grandson, Caleb Andrew Pope, Gillsville.
Evans Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

MRS. OSTEEN
Commerce native
SAVANNAH - Mrs. Mary Ella Osteen, 93, died Friday, February 16, 2001, at Azalealand Nursing Home.
The Commerce native and former resident of Beltsville, Md., had lived in Savannah for the past 26 years. Mrs. Osteen was the daughter of the late Henry and Alma Sims, Commerce, and the widow of Dr. O.L. Osteen.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 19, at McLamb-Morrison Funeral Home, Pembroke. Burial was in the Beular Baptist Church cemetery.
Mrs. Osteen is survived by two daughters, Sandra Robison, Savannah, and Nancy Norwood, Tavares, Fla.; one son, Dr. C. Lamont Osteen, Savannah; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; two nieces, Nancy S. Stancil, Commerce, and Sally S. Gibby, Lithia Springs; and one nephew, Bill Sims, Commerce.
McLamb-Morrison Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
