COMMERCE - Mrs. Jo Eller Dyer Beck Allison, 81, formerly of Hall County, died Monday, January 24, 2000, at her residence following an extended illness.
Mrs. Allison was born in White County, but had lived in Hall County for a number of years before moving to Commerce to live with her daughter.
She was a daughter of the late Lester and Annie Dyer.
Mrs. Allison was a retired manager from the Roses Cafeteria and was a member of the Gainesville Church of God. She was preceded in death by her first husband, C.P. Beck, and her second husband, Clyde Allison.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 26, in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home, Gainesville, with the Revs. C.A. Residter and Theo Arnett officiating. Mrs. Allison's grandchildren delivered the eulogy.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Margie and Buddy Ayers, Commerce, Mary and Joe Wright, Buford, and Donna and Chuck Kennedy, Punta Gorda, Fla.; sons and daughters-in-law, Willard and Patsy Beck, Punta Gorda, Fla., and Leonard and Brenda Beck, Flowery Branch; one brother, Clinton Dyer, Gainesville; one sister, Myrtle Elinburg, Commerce; 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

ATLANTA - Kenneth "Jackson County Red" Johnson, 39, died Monday, January 24, 2000.
Mr. Johnson was a son of Herman and Ruby Johnson, Jefferson. He was self-employed.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, January 27, in Willis Chapel of Mack & Payne Funeral Home, Athens, with the Rev. William Jennings officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include his wife, Debora Johnson; two sons, Travis Johnson, Athens, and Jarvis Lee, Winder; three sisters, Glenda Harrison, Maysville, Sharon Richardson, Jefferson, and Marcia Penson, Woodstock; one brother, Herman Laray Johnson, Jefferson; grandmother, Lula Cox, Jefferson; and a host of other relatives and friends.
The family is at 4594 Jefferson River Road.

GAINESVILLE - Ed Hunter, 56, died Thursday, January 20, 2000.
A native of Jackson County, Mr. Hunter was a son of the late Junior Hunter and Sarah Ruth Hunter-Thompson.
He was retired from Mar-Jac, Gainesville.
Funeral services were held Sunday, January 23, at Rucker Memorial Baptist Church, Gainesville. Burial was in Clarkesville Memorial Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Frankie Hunter; two daughters, Teresa Lott and Garfainia Shields, both of Gainesville; one son, Robert Heard, Gainesville; 12 sisters, Emmalene Wood, Doris Mintz, Charity Wheeler, Cheryl Thompson, Laurie Thompson, Ollie Stephens, Annie Lois Brawner and Caroline Buffington, all of Gainesville, Conchita Shepard, Battle Creek, Mich., Shirley Borders, Jefferson, Gwendolyn Summers, Gary, Ind., and Gloria J. Mendal, New York; six brothers, Donald J. Hunter, Ralph Thompson, Henry Thompson, James Earl Thompson and Ken Thompson, all of Gainesville, and Gerald Griffith, Jefferson; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

COMER - Mrs. Florence Woods, 71, died Tuesday, January 18, 2000, at Cobb Health Care.
Mrs. Woods was born February 28, 1928, in Gainesville. She was a daughter of the late Carl Thomas and Tressie Wilson Lord.
Mrs. Woods had been employed with Harmony Grove Mills.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Woods.
Funeral services were held Thursday, January 20, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Revs. Donald Wilson and Jimmy Owensby officiating. Burial was in Grey Hill Cemetery, Commerce.
Survivors include two sons, Marvin Brown, Homer, and Harry Columbus Thomas, Danielsville; two daughters, Dorothy Garrett, Comer, and Martha Worley, Homer; 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

COMMERCE - Mrs. Linda Joyce Maney Lord, 51, died Thursday, January 20, 2000, at her residence.
Mrs. Lord was born April 18, 1948, in Banks County. She was a daughter of the late Lee Edgar and Vera Beatrice Crumley Maney.
Mrs. Lord was employed with the Jackson County Health Department and was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Sunday, January 23, at Mount Olive Baptist Church with the Rev. Carlton Peters officiating. Burial was in Grey Hill Cemetery, Commerce. Steven Cash, Todd Bramlett, Eddie Hubbard, Cary Hubbard, Ricky Hogan and Kenneth Campbell served as pallbearers.
Survivors include her husband, Mike Lord; two sons, Derrick Lord and Dustin Lord, both of Commerce; three sisters, Brenda Cash, Homer, Vernell Hubbard, Lula, and Gwen Maney, Commerce; and two grandchildren, Bailee and Jessie Lord, both of Commerce.

CARNESVILLE - Alison Leigh Bertrang, infant daughter of Shawn and Susan Burrell Bertrang, Carnesville, died Tuesday, January 25, 2000.
Funeral services were held Thursday, January 27, at Mount Zion United Methodist Church with the Revs. Tommy Childress and Ryan Seawright officiating.

COMMERCE - Mrs. Maude Weaver Short, 85, died Wednesday, January 26, 2000.
Mrs. Short was born in Orlando, Fla., a daughter of the late Hampton Weaver and Lara Taylor.
She was a homemaker and a member of Dry Pond United Methodist Church. Mrs. Short was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Franklin Short.
Funeral services were held Saturday, January 29, in the chapel of Baldwin-Fairchild Funeral Home, Orlando, Fla. Burial was in Glenhaven Memorial Park.
Survivors include two daughters, Norma Jean Weagraff and Sheila Marie Gilbert, both of Orlando, Fla.; two sons, Charles Houston Short, Orlando, Fla., and Dennis William Short, Baldwin; one sister, Delaray Weaver, Jefferson, N.C.; 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

MT. AIRY - Draven Payne Umbehant, infant son of Matt and Lori Payne Umbehant, Mt. Airy, died Wednesday, January 26, 2000, at Egleston Children's Hospital, Atlanta.
Umbehant was born Friday, January 21, in Hall County.
He was preceded in death by great-grandparents, John Vickers, Everett Umbehant, Curtis and Blanche Woodall Gastley and Thomas J. Sr. and Pauline Hardy Payne.
Funeral services were held Friday, January 28, in the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home, Cornelia, with the Rev. Mickey Umbehant officiating. Burial was in Yonah Memorial Gardens.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include one brother, Sean Curtis Umbehant, Mt. Airy; grandparents, the Rev. Eddie and Pam Vickers Umbehant, Mt. Airy, Thomas J. CORNELIA - Odell Meeler Gerrell, 83, died Saturday, January 29, 2000, at Habersham County Medical Center following an extended illness.
Mrs. Gerrell was born November 6, 1916, in Habersham County. She was a daughter of the late James Meeler and Etta Davis Deaton Meeler.
Mrs. Gerrell was retired from Carwood Manufacturing Company, Baldwin, with 32 years of service. She was a member of Damascus Baptist Church.
Mrs. Gerrell was preceded in death by a brother, Charlie Meeler, a sister, Annie Mae Meeler, and three half-brothers, John, Harve and Jake Deaton.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 1, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, with the Revs. Hal Cason and Alan Cole officiating. Burial was in Yonah Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include her husband, E.C. Gerrell; one sister, Elsie Looney, Martin; and one brother, Robert Meeler, Augusta.

COMER - Terry Leonard Kitchens, 42, died Saturday, January 29, 2000.
A native of Jackson County, Mr. Kitchens was a son of the late Lovic and Estelle Roberts Kitchens.
Graveside services were held Monday, January 31, in the Indian Creek Baptist Church cemetery, Franklin County.
Survivors include his wife, Annie Ruth Kitchens; two daughters, Kerry Marie Kitchens, Comer, and Amy Marie Mathis, Homer; one son, Timothy Leonard Kitchens, Commerce; two sisters, Ruth Vaughn, Homer, and Joyce K. Brock, Danielsville; one brother, James Edward Kitchens, Danielsville; and one grandson.
