MAYSVILLE - Mrs. Hazel Jeanette "Gennie" Wilson Gillespie, 77, died Friday, February 5, 2000, at her residence following an extended illness.
Mrs. Gillespie was born in Jackson County, a daughter of the late Willie Winford and Minnie Elizabeth Wilson.
She was a housewife and was of the Baptist denomination.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 8, in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home, Gainesville, with the Rev. Marshall Dale officiating. Burial was in the Harmony Grove Christian Church cemetery.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Wade and Lucy Gillespie, Anaheim, Calif., Randall and Jeannie Gillespie, Gillsville, and Jimmy and Wanda Gillespie, Maysville; sons, Wayne Gillespie, Lula, and Raymond Gillespie, Maysville; sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth and James Winters, Chicopee; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

COMMERCE - Mrs. Lillian Annette Almond died Friday, February 11, 2000.
A native of Jackson County, Mrs. Almond was born January 5, 1949. She was a daughter of the late Will Nathan and Lizzie Davenport.
Mrs. Almond had been employed with Solar Tech, Commerce, and was a member of New Faith Methodist Church, Commerce, where she served faithfully until her death.
Funeral services were held Sunday, February 13, at New Faith Methodist Church with the Rev. Frank Earls officiating.
Survivors include daughter, Paige Almond, Macon; daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Torris Butterfield, Union City; and sister and brother-in-law, Rebbecca and Samuel Chaney, Commerce.

MRS. COTTON
Retired seamstress
GILLSVILLE - Mrs. Plonie Mae Tanner Cotton, 90, died Saturday, February 12, 2000, at BJC Medical Center, Commerce, following a long illness.
Mrs. Cotton was born December 4, 1909, in Jackson County. She was a daughter of the late Erastus Voyles and Laura Sanders Voyles.
She was a member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church, Homer.
Mrs. Cotton was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Cotton.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 15, at Mount Carmel Baptist Church with the Rev. Ralph O. Smith officiating. Burial was in Midway Cemetery.
Survivors include one son, Kenneth Tanner, Gillsville; four sisters, Hester Dickson, Snellville, Pauline Sosby, Cumming, Rosa Lou Stringer and Willard Strickland, both of Jefferson, and Laura Sailers, Bethlehem; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

JEFFERSON - Mrs. Lucille H. Groover died Wednesday, February 9, 2000.
Graveside services were held Friday, February 11, at Decatur cemetery with the Rev. James Brewer-Calvert officiating.
Survivors include one son, Darrell Joseph Chaisson, Jefferson; one step-daughter, Sally DiVenere, Chicago, Ill.; one step-son, Robert W. Groover, Charleston, Ill.; grandchildren, Darrell J. Chaisson Jr., Lucy E. Chaisson, Robert L. Chaisson, Christina L. Morgan, James W. Groover, Matthew L. Groover and Steven T. Groover; great-grandchildren, Ethridge P. Chaisson, Nicholas C. AUBURN - Mrs. Mildred Ramey Mitchell Butler, 88, died Monday, January 17, 2000.
Mrs. Butler was a native of Barrow County.
She was a homemaker and a member of Union Grove Baptist Church, Auburn.
Survivors include her husband, Alvin Butler; children, the Rev. and Rosa Mitchell, Florence Masters and Guy and Quillon Butler, all of Auburn, H.E. "Red" and Jewette Mitchell, Dacula, James and Hilda Butler, Charleston, S.C., Charolotte and Buford Smith, Oakwood, and Sue and Milton Turner, Lawrenceville; one sister, Rubye R. Keith, Hoschton; two half-sisters, Imogene Mills and Mary Waycaster, both of Baldwin; 19 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

World War II veteran
ATHENS - Mrs. Tina May Holman, 75, died Thursday, February 10, 2000, at St. Mary's Hospital, Athens.
Mrs. Holman was born May 27, 1924, in Louisia, Va. She was a daughter of the late John L. Hurt and Mammie Paul.
Mrs. Holman was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army, and worked as a store manager in a retail business. She was of the Baptist denomination.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 12, in the chapel of Jackson Funeral Home, Jefferson, with the Rev. Rick Markham officiating. Burial was in the Galilee Christian Church cemetery, Jefferson.
Survivors include one daughter, Kim Chaffin, Fairburn; two sons, Terry Holman, Dacula, and Mike Holman, Jefferson; and three step-sisters, Jean Dillard, Helen Palmateer and Neda Toler, all of Virginia; and 10 grandchildren.

MRS. HUCHINGSON
Active in church work
Mrs. Frances Wood Huchingson, 89, died Saturday, February 12, 2000.
Mrs. Huchingson was a daughter of the late Emory and Edna Wood.
She was a descendant of some of Commerce's first settlers.
Mrs. Huchingson was very active in church work, having led a Bible study in the nursing home where she resided for the past several years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Reuben Huchingson, and two brothers, Louis Wood and Frank Wood.
Mrs. Huchingson is survived by two nieces, Mary Lou Wood Faulkner and Susan Wood Jobe; and two nephews, Frank Wood Jr. and George Wood.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Commerce.
MRS. SWORDS
Retired seamstress
WINDER - Mrs. Ila B. Swords, 90, died Friday, February 11, 2000.
Mrs. Swords was born in Jackson County, a daughter of the late Jim and Fannie Mae Perry Miller. She had resided in Barrow County for most of her life.
Mrs. Swords was a retired seamstress and was a member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul C. Swords, and a son, Bobby Swords.
Funeral services were held Sunday, February 13, in the chapel of Carter Funeral Home, Winder, with the Rev. Kenneth Deaton officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Survivors include daughter, Joyce Stowe, Columbus; son and daughter-in-law, Milton and Dorothy Swords, and sons, Larry Swords and Nolan Swords, all of Winder; one sister, Bonnie Hill, Center; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

MRS. ALFORD

GAINESVILLE - Mrs. Ola B. Alford, 83, died Monday, February 14, 2000, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Gainesville, following an extended illness.
Mrs. Alford was born in Jackson County, but had lived most of her life in Hall County. She was a daughter of the late Beatty and Mae Smith Gee.
Mrs. Alford was a homemaker and a member of Chicopee Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Woodie Cole and Lois Elrod Sorrells.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, February 15, in Memorial Park Cemetery, Gainesville, with the Rev. Doug Collins officiating.
Survivors include daughter, Mary Cole Green, Chicopee; daughter and son-in-law, Martha Cole and James Godfrey, Gainesville; one brother, Herman Gee, Jefferson; five sisters, Nell Culpepper and Sylvia Underwood, both of Talmo, Wilma Dodd, Oakwood, and Doris Nabors and Betty Sosebee, both of Jefferson; three granddaughters, Jamie Stribling and Jane Green Truelove, both of Gainesville, and Patti Brewer, Auburn; three grandsons, Rick Godfrey, Sharpsburg, Mike Green, Gainesville, and Eddie Green, Chestnut Mountain; and 16 great-grandchildren.

WINDER - Mrs. Eula Mae Kilgore, 47, died Friday, February 11, 2000.
A native of Barrow County, Mrs. Kilgore was a daughter of Andy and Addie Bell Tuggle, Auburn.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 17, at White Oak Spring Baptist Church with the Rev. Edward Price officiating. The body will be placed in the church at noon. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Survivors, in addition to her parents, include her husband, Alvin Kilgore Sr.; two daughters, Shawanna Kilgore and Lacisha Kilgore, both of Winder; three sons, Alvin Kilgore Jr., Maurice Kilgore and Antonio Kilgore, all of Winder; one sister, Eunice Tuggle, Commerce; one brother, John Tuggle, Auburn; and eight grandchildren.
