COLBERT - Guy Leon Gravitt, 50, died Friday, March 24, 2000.
Mr. Gravitt was born in Jackson County, a son of the late John Henry and Bertie Wood Gravitt.
He was a retired security guard with Georgia Security and was of the Baptist denomination.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, March 28, in Bethabara Cemetery, Monroe, with the Rev. Jack Lindsey officiating.
Survivors include his wife, Juanita Kittle Gravitt; and two sisters, Shirley Kerr, Colbert, and Peggy Bryant, Statham.

MR. BELL
Clarke County native
ATHENS - Fred R. Bell, 47, died Sunday, March 26, 2000.
A native of Clarke County, Mr. Bell was a son of Lou Nell Whitehead Bell, Athens, and the late William Thomas Bell.
He served in the U.S. Army Reserves and was employed as an industrial supply salesman. Mr. Bell was a member of Galilee Christian Church, Jefferson, and the Mt. Vernon Masonic Lodge.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 30, at Galilee Christian Church with Minister Tom Plank officiating. The body will lie in state one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Terry Dotson, Mitchell Black, Chuck Gay, Roy Wood, Russ Scritchfield and Edd Iler will serve as pallbearers.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include his wife, Kay Fulcher Bell, Athens; daughter and son-in-law, Crisy and Bradley Holder, Athens; and one granddaughter, Allie Holder, Athens.
Memorials may be made to the Loren Smith Cancer Care Center, Athens Regional Medical Center, 1199 Prince Avenue, Athens, GA 30606.
The family was to have received friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Bernstein Funeral Home, Athens.

MRS. JENKINS
Housewife
WINDER - Mrs. W.R. (Minnie Lou) Jenkins, 89, died Thursday, March 23, 2000.
Mrs. Jenkins was born in Madison County, a daughter of the late Milton and Mary Jones Ashe.
She had resided in Barrow County since 1984. Mrs. Jenkins was a housewife and a member of Carl Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walt Jenkins.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 25, in the chapel of Carter Funeral Home, Winder, with the Rev. Mike Sullivan officiating. Burial was in Carl Cemetery.
Survivors include four daughters, Dorothy Connally, Decatur, Janet Joyal-Standley, Lawrenceville, Patricia Eason, Monroe, and Randy Reynolds, Lilburn; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

MR. ARMSTRONG
Educator
ATHENS - Lovejoy Armstrong Jr., 45, died Sunday, March 26, 2000.
Mr. Armstrong was a son of the late Lovejoy Sr. and Ruby Bell Armstrong.
He was an educator in the public school system.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, March 30, at Ebenezer Baptist Church, West, with Dr. Winfred M. Hope officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 12:30 p.m. Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Armstrong is survived by one son, Calvin Armstrong, Atlanta; and one sister, Wanda Gresham, Jefferson.

Jefferson High school student
JEFFERSON - Demarion Samone "Mookey" Banks, 16, died Wednesday, March 22, 2000, at Grady Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Banks was born in August of 1983, a son of Maleser Banks and Jeffery Andrea Pope, both of Jefferson.
He was a ninth grade student at Jefferson High School and was a member of St. Paul First Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 25, at St. Paul First Baptist Church with the Revs. Marvin Simmons, R.E. Cooper, Ken Sims and J.T. Hughey officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Antonio Nicely, Hendric Nicely, LaBache Gill, Alvin Martin, Fredrick Usher and John Calloway served as pallbearers. Flower attendants were Erika Mackey, Carita Baily, Jessica Tate, Vernice Appling, Yolanda Usher, Caquea Sewell, Kenyatta Beasley, Cierra Watson and Chimere Usher.
Survivors, in addition to his parents, include two brothers, Tarren Butler and Karman Banks, both of Jefferson; grandmothers, Rosa Banks and Katherine Green; great-grandmother, Mrs. Lucy Johnson; one niece, Daja Gresham; and uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.

Ollie L. Cain
Ollie Lee Cain, 89, of Savannah, died Saturday, January 2, 2000, at his residence.
A native of Banks County, Mr. Cain had lived in Savannah from 1948 until 1968, when he moved to Atlanta. He returned to Savannah 11 years ago.
Mr. Cain was former owner of Cain Trucking Company and retired from Superior Trucking Company. He was a member of Silk Hope Baptist Church, Savannah.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 4, in Hodgson Memorial Chapel of Hubert C. Baker Funeral Home. Burial was in Hillcrest Abbey West.
Survivors include his wife, Myrtle Ruth Jones Cain; daughter and son-in-law, Becky C. Helmly and Keevil Helmly Jr., Savannah; sons and daughters-in-law, James W. and Kay Cain, San Antonio, and Ollie L. and Beth Cain, Roswell; two sisters, Mary Brewer, Homer, and Donnie Mae Wilson, Athens; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several and nieces and nephews.

Leatha M. Cantrell
Mrs. Leatha Mae Upchurch Cantrell, 80, of Comer, died Wednesday, March 22, 2000.
A native of Clarke County, Mrs. Cantrell was a daughter of the late Walter Raleigh and Alice Jane Chapel Upchurch.
She was a homemaker and a member of Mars Hill Baptist Church. Mrs. Cantrell was preceded in death by her husband, Ollie Cleo Cantrell, and two brothers, W.B. "Red" Upchurch and Walter Upchurch.
Funeral services were held Friday, March 24, in the chapel of Bernstein Funeral Home, Athens, with the Revs. Bill Nash and John Alexander officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Memorial Park. Scott Hancock, Jeff Hancock, David Hancock, Jeffery Daniels, David Crawley, Jerry Crawley and Travis Legg served as pallbearers.
Survivors include one step-daughter, Betty Hampson, Cumming; son and daughter-in-law, Bryant and Carole Cantrell, Comer; two granddaughters, Debbie Cantrell and Fran Cantrell, both of Comer; and one niece.

Henry B. Odell
Henry Bryant Odell, 76, of Elberton, died Saturday, March 25, 2000.
A native of Pickens, S.C., Mr. Odell was a son of the late Ralph and Lois Stancil Odell.
He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army, and was a retired profiler in the granite industry.
Mr. Odell was a member of Northside Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 28, in the chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Rev. David McConnell officiating. Burial was in Forest Hills Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Etta Mae Burns Odell; one son, James Henry Odell, Elberton; three sisters, Marie Simmons, Elberton, Mattie Williams, Augusta, and Ramona Morgan, Danielsville; two brothers, Troy Nix, Elberton, and Clark Bennett, Hull; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

MR. DAVISON
Farmer
CARNESVILLE - James Doyle "Dock" Davison, 77, died Saturday, April 15, at Cobb Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Davison was born in Franklin County on July 2, 1922, the son of the late Jim H. and Edna Cothran Davison.
Mr. Davison was a lifelong resident of the Bold Springs Community, a farmer and a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Thelma Fleischer, and two brothers, Lamar and Ellis Davison.
Survivors include two brothers, Olin Davison, Carnesville, and Dillard Davison, Greensboro; five sisters, Ruth Sparks, Commerce, Louise Ashworth and Jimmie Lou Sharp, both of Crawford, Pauline Farr, North Augusta, S.C. and Lorene Davison, Carnesville; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held, Monday, April 17 at Middle River Baptist Church, with the Revs. Paul Jameson and Larry Davison officiating. Mr. Davison's nephews served as pallbearers. Burial was in the church cemetery.

ALTO - Mrs. Annie Welch Martin, 74, died Sunday, April 2, 2000, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Gainesville, following an extended illness.
Mrs. Martin was born July 8, 1925, in Gilmer County. She was a daughter of the late Charlie R. and Lillie Fay Christy Welch.
Mrs. Martin was a homemaker and was a member of Philippi Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 4, at Philippi Baptist Church with the Revs. Dean Bryant, Cotton Harris and Phil Miller officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include her husband, Roy H. Martin; daughter and son-in-law, Doris and Joseph Armour, Alto; son and daughter-in-law, Roy E. Sr. and Charlotte Fortner Martin, Dahlonega; brother and sister-in-law, Leon and Virginia Welch, Dahlonega; sister and brother-in-law, Wanda and Haden Thomas, Dahlonega; sisters, Sara Sutton, Dahlonega, and Lillie Laverne Martin, Russell, Mass.; grandchildren and spouses, Tonya and Brian Smith, Sonya and Joey Nix, Gene Martin, Cheryl Welborn, Roy E.
