Mrs. Drucilla Haggard Wilson, 77, of Poca, died Thursday, April 13, 2000.
A native of Madison County, Mrs. Wilson was a daughter of the late Cam B. and Mattie Embry Haggard.
She was a longtime member of Providence Baptist Church, where she served as clerk and as a Sunday School secretary for a number of years. Mrs. Wilson was retired from Georgia Sportswear.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 15, at Providence Baptist Church with the Revs. Johnny Tucker and Albert Vaughn officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Billy Singleton, Tim Shields, Billy Culbertson, Leon Swindle, Ernest Martin and Robert Weathington served as pallbearers.
Survivors include her husband, Mack Wilson; daughters and sons-in-law, Maxine and Garney Shields Jr. and Phyllis and Clayton Bryant, all of Poca; one sister, Mattie Lou Swindle, Commerce; two grandchildren, Tim Shields and Billy Singleton; and two great-grandchildren, Kayla Reno and Brittany Shields.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Providence cemetery Fund of Providence Baptist Church.

BENJAMIN F. MOORE
Benjamin Franklin Moore, 92, of Danielsville, died Sunday, April 16, 2000. He was born in Madison County to the late Henry Benson Moore and Pinkie Jane Drake Moore.
Mr. Moore was a farmer and was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by a son, Ray T. Moore.
Graveside services were April 18 at Friendship Baptist Church cemetery with the Rev. Dayton Logan officiating.
Survivors include his wife, Willie Graham Moore; daughters and sons-in-law, Jack and Henry Booth and Nina and William Hitchcock, all of Danielsville; son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Elsie Moore, Raleigh, N.C.; one sister, Tommie Moore, Danielsville; one daughter-in-law, Addie Moore, Universal City, Texas; two grandchildren, Wayne Booth and April Watson; one step-grandchild, Anita French; one great-grandchild, Adrianna Watson; and two step-great-grandchildren, Chris and Adam Watson.

JEWRELL FREEMAN
Mrs. Jewrell Freeman, 78, of Winder, died Tuesday, April 11, 2000.
A native of Barrow County, Mrs. Freeman was a daughter of the late Berry Newton Peek and Valley Uralee Rowland and was the widow of the late Luther C. Freeman.
She was preceded in death by a son, Teddy Freeman. Mrs. Freeman was a seamstress and was a member of Emanuel Baptist Church.
Services were held Thursday, April 13, at Wise-Connolly Funeral Home with the Revs. Marion Prather and Harold Thornhill officiating. Burial was in Midway United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jason Casper, Chris Freeman, Mark Freeman, Richard Hammond, William Hammond, Michael Dunn, Landon Wilder and John Toole. Honorary pallbearers were Jason Kenly and Timothy Hammond.
Survivors include four daughters, Carolyn Sweeney, Madison, Linda Hammonds, Athens, Judy Savage, Lawrenceville, and Kay Spratlin, Hull; three sons, Terry Freeman, Statham, Tim Freeman, Winder, and Berry Freeman, Clinton, Miss.; two sisters, Jessie Lou Malcom, Bostwick, and Sue Thomas, Milledgeville; a brother, Henry Peek, Madison; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
KATIE L. ELROD
Mrs. Katie Lou Cantrell Elrod, 72, of Watkinsville, died Sunday, April 16, 2000, at her residence. She was born February 29, 1928, in Gwinnett County to the late Quillion and Hassie Nations Cantrell.
Mrs. Elrod was preceded in death by her husband, the late Marvin Odell Elrod. She was retired from Commerce Poultry and was a member of Freedom Church of God.
Funeral services were held April 18 at Freedom Church of God with the Revs. Tim Garrett, Curtis Hammond and Lamar Hansard officiating. Burial was at the church cemetery.
Survivors include three sons, Randy Elrod, Danielsville, and Ronald Elrod and Stevie Elrod, both of Commerce; five daughters, Janet Andrews, Colbert, Angie Bradshaw and Vickie Cole, both of Watkinsville, Sherry Godfrey, Crawford, and Gayle Green, Commerce; one brother, Vester Cantrell, Suwannee; one sister, Katherine Walker, Buford; 26 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

SAM McCLURE
Sam McClure, 80, of Commerce died Monday, April 17, 2000, at BJC Medical Center. He was born December 29, 1919, in Stephens County to the late John and Lizzie Rothell McClure.
Mr. McClure was an electrician, a member of the First United Methodist Church of Commerce and a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army Air Corps.
Funeral services were held April 19 at the Little-Ward Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Warren Huddleston and Vaughn Howington officiating. Burial was at Grey Hill Cemetery, Commerce.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Wills McClure, Commerce; one son, Samuel Edwin McClure, Jefferson; four daughters, Betty Ayers, Commerce, Nancy Bond, Conyers, Gloria Flynn, Norwich, England, and Virginia Pigg, Malabar, Fla.; and one brother, Dan McClure, Commerce.

MR. NORMAN

COMMERCE - Jim Norman, 48, died Thursday, May 4, 2000, at his residence.
Mr. Norman was born September 21, 1951, in Cleveland County, N.C. He was a son of the late Robert Max Norman and the step-son of Karl and Charlene Notz, Kingston, Tenn.
Mr. Norman was employed with Wal-Mart and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Oakridge, Tenn. He was also a member of the Banks County Volunteer Fire Department and the Banks County Booster Club and served as a Boy Scout leader.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 6, at Beaverdam Baptist Church with the Rev. David Friend officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors, in addition to his step-parents, include his wife, Linda Sue Kerr Norman; two sons, James Randall Norman and Robert Max Norman, both of Commerce; two brothers, Tommy Norman, Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Tom Notz, Oakridge, Tenn.; and three sisters, Karen Miller, Cincinnati, Ohio, Julie Siemmens, Knoxville, Tenn., and Kathy Wellborne, Louisville, Ky.

JEFFERSON - Mrs. Bertha Dorn Meacham, 92, died Wednesday, May 3, 2000, at Athens Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.
Mrs. Meacham was born April 21, 1908, in New Orleans, La. She was a daughter of the late Charles and Victorine Peres Dorn.
Mrs. Meacham was a retired office manager and homemaker and was a member of St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church, Commerce. She was also a member of the Jackson County Senior Citizens Center and a member of the AARP.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 6, at St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church with Father Richard Tibbets officiating. Private burial services were held Sunday, May 7, in Winterville.
Survivors include one son, Charles Dorn Meacham, Richmond, Va.; one daughter, Sandra Gutknecht, Jefferson; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church, 708 State Street, Commerce, GA 30529, or to the Jackson County Senior Citizens Center, 219 Darnell Road, Jefferson GA 30549.

MRS. STRICKLAND

JEFFERSON - Mrs. Reutrell "Granny" Strickland, 80, died Tuesday, May 9, 2000, at Athens Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.
Mrs. Strickland had lived in Jefferson for 52 years. She was a homemaker and a member of Rogers Baptist Church.
Mrs. Strickland was preceded in death by her husband, William Dewey Strickland, a son, Roger Dale Strickland, and a grandson, William "Pee-Wee" Strickland.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 11, at Living Word Worship Center, Jefferson, with the Revs. Dennis Kesler and Richard James officiating. Burial will be in Moons Grove Cemetery, Madison County. Rick Strickland, Dennis Strickland, Johnathan Strickland, Tim Strickland, Kendall Strickland and Dale Dill will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Greg Huckaby, Tony Williams and Chris Motes.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia Anne and Curtis Warren, Charleston, S.C., Peggy and Butch Usry, Lawrenceville, and Faye and Johnny Swain, Jefferson; sons and daughters-in-law, William and Kathleen Strickland, Donald and Kathy Strickland, Wayne and Wanda Strickland and Dwight and Delia Strickland, all of Jefferson, and Daniel and Pat Strickland, Athens; son, David Strickland, Jefferson; one brother, Floyd Baxter, Gainesville; two sisters, Sylvia Callaway, Greenwood, S.C., and Dot Montgomery, Athens; 28 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and special friends Dot and Amos Hensley, Jefferson.

MAYSVILLE - Dennis Hill, 51, died Sunday, May 7, 2000, at BJC Medical Center, Commerce.
Mr. Hill was born August 14, 1948, in Hall County. He was a son of Mary Frances Martin Hill, Maysville, and the late Don L. Hill.
Mr. Hill was self-employed in maintenance and was of the Baptist denomination.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 8, in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Rev. Brian Stowe officiating. Burial was in Sunrise Cemetery, Maysville. David Reynolds, Ben Hopkins, William Austin, James Scroggs, Eddie Pruitt, Emory Merk and Larry Presley served as pallbearers.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include one daughter, Sharon Denise Hill, Gainesville; and one brother, Steve Hill, Hull.

COMMERCE - J.C. Edge, 68, died Monday, May 8, 2000, at his residence.
Mr. Edge was born February 7, 1932. He was a son of the late Charlie and Maruy Jarrard Edge.
Mr. Edge was employed with Jackson County as a security guard.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 10, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, with the Rev. Mark Poston officiating. Burial was in Grey Hill Cemetery, Commerce.
Survivors include his wife, Maudane Edge; one son, Jeffery Edge, Commerce; daughter and son-in-law, Tina and Larry Swain, Commerce; one brother; one sister; and two grandchildren, Jamaica Edge and Camille Swain.

JEFFERSON - Jack Leonard Lance, 61, died Wednesday, May 3, 2000, at Athens Regional Medical Center following a sudden illness.
Mr. Lance was born January 15, 1939, in Jackson County. He was a son of Myrtle Bray, Commerce, and the late L.C. Lance.
Mr. Lance was a retired construction worker. He was preceded in death by his wife, Christine Vickery Lance.
Funeral services were held Sunday, May 7, in the chapel of Evans Funeral Home, Jefferson, with the Rev. Donald Wilson officiating. Burial was in Danielsville Memorial Gardens.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, include two sons, Wiley Leanord Lance, Ellijay, and Johnny Lance, Oakwood; four daughters, Kathaleen Parlier, Grantsville, Jackie Gaffney, Cumming, Sherri Ramey, Braselton, and Tina Norsworthy, Flowery Branch; and four brothers, William Lance and Buren Bray, both of Jefferson, Telford Bray, Braselton, and Randall Bray, Illinois.
