Services for Grover Carswell Jr. of Alamo were held at noon Saturday, Jan. 17 at Spaulding Grove Baptist Church of Alamo with interment in the church cemetery.
The Rev. Larry D. Harvey officiated.
Carswell, 56, died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2004. He was the son of the late Grover Carswell Sr. and Willie Mae Carswell and was married to Shirley McRae Carswell.
Garlena Culver
Services for Garlena Culver of Jacksonville were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17 at Wesley Chapel CME Church of Jacksonville with interment in the church cemetery.
The Rev. Robert Haywood officiated.
Culver, 93, died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2004. She was the daughter of the late Jerry McRae and Beulah Kellam McRae and was the widow of Richard Culver. She was a native of Telfair County.
Survivors include her daughter, Carrie Clark; sisters, Sarah Fletcher and Clara Rushin; 13 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and 43 great-great-grandchildren.
A.L. Spaulding Funeral Home of McRae was in charge of arrangements.
L.C. Dennard
Services for L.C. Dennard of Rhine were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 18 at Mt. Air Baptist Church of Hawkinsville with interment in Mill Creek Cemetery of Rhine.
The Rev. Van Whipple officiated.
Dennard, 82, died Monday, Jan. 12, 2004. He was the son of the late John Dennard and Winnie Dennard and was the widower Beulah Mae Wilcox of Rhine.
He was a native of Pulaski County and was a retired construction worker.
Survivors include his daughters, Joan Hamilton and Joyce L. King, both of Rhine; sons, Walter Dennard and Michael Dennard, both of Rhine, Johnny Dennard and Marvin Dennard, both of Eastman; brother, Robert Dennard of Miami, Fla.; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A.L. Spaulding Funeral Home of McRae was in charge of arrangements.
Wesley L. Green
Services for Wesley L. Green of Lumber City were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10 at St. James Baptist Church with interment in Cedar Grove Cemetery in Lumber City.
The Rev. Valda Willcox officiated.
Green, 69, died Monday, Jan. 5, 2004. He was the son of the late Andrew Green and Rushie Bell Green and was married to Mary Green of Lumber City. He was a native of Terrell County.
In addition to his wife, survivors include his children, Anthony Green, Jackie Green and Renee Green, all of Jacksonville, Fla.; sisters, Matie Bell Gibson of New Jersey, Lola Hughes of Albany and Doris Green of Cocoa, Fla.; a host of grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Pollyanna Beasley Livingston & Dustin Barrett Livingston
Services for Pollyanna Beasley Livingston and Dustin Barrett Livingston of Hazlehurst were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 18 in the Southside Baptist Church with interment in the Hazlehurst Memorial Cemetery in Jeff Davis County.
Dr. Pete Sharber, Dr. Ben Glosson, the Rev. Keith Yawn and the Rev. Rick Brown officiated.
Livingston, 31 and infant son Dustin Barrett Livingston, died Thursday, Jan. 15, 2004. She was the daughter of Rabun and Jo Beasley of Hazlehurst and was married to Josh Livingston of Hazlehurst.
A native and lifelong resident of Jeff Davis County, she was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband and parents, survivors include her daughter, Alyssa Livingston of Hazlehurst; sons, Cole Livingston and Bryce Livingston of Hazlehurst; sister, Deborah Johnson of Hazlehurst; brother, Darrell Beasley of Hazlehurst; grandmothers, Alene Beasley of Vidalia and Ruth Livingston of Lumber City and mother-in-law, Nancy Livingston of Lumber City.
Miles Funeral Home of Hazlehurst was in charge of arrangements.
Louise J. McCranie
Services for Louise J. McCranie of Rhine were held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20 in Rhine Baptist Church with interment in Vilula Cemetery.
The Rev. Royce Vaughn and Reggie Sheffield officiated.
McCranie, 72, died Monday, Jan. 19, 2004. She was the daughter of the late Frank Johnson and Emma Crenshaw Johnson and was the widow of Oscar Doyle McCranie.
She was a native of Wilcox County and had lived in Dodge County for the past 50 years. She was a member of Rhine Baptist Church and was a homemaker.
Survivors include her daughter, Luwanda Gildersleeve of Macon; sons, Theron McCranie of Chauncey and Tony McCranie of Eastman; sister, Fostelle Gregory of Pitts; brother, Leslie Johnson Sr. of New London, Conn.; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Stokes-Southerland Funeral Home of Eastman was in charge of arrangements.
Danley Franklin McLendon
Services for Danley Franklin McLendon of McRae were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 19 at Milan Church of God with interment in the Rock Pond Baptist Church Cemetery in Coffee County.
The Rev. Ralph Horne and the Rev. James Fennell officiated.
McLendon, 53, died Saturday, Jan. 17, 2004. He was the son of Laura Davis McLendon of Milan and the late Ancel McLendon and was married to Wanda Norris McLendon of McRae.
He was a native of Dodge County and was a truck driver for Penn’s Best Trucking Company. In addition to his wife and mother, survivors include his son, Danley McLendon of McRae; brothers, Peyton McLendon of Macon and Edward McLendon of Hawkinsville; sister, Mary Louise Sorrows of Hawkinsville and one grandson.
Lowe’s Funeral Home of Helena was in charge of arrangements.
Nellie Myrtle Pollard
Services for Nellie Myrtle Pollard of McRae were held at 3 p.m. Monday, Jan. 19 in the chapel of Lowe’s Funeral Home with interment in Telfair Memorial Gardens.
The Rev. Mike Pollard officiated.
Pollard, 91, died Saturday, Jan. 17, 2004. She was the daughter of the late John A. and Nancy Rebecca Towns Livingston and was the widow of George A. Pollard.
She was a native of Telfair County, a member of Goose Creek United Methodist Church and was a housewife.
Survivors include her children, Nellie Ruth Ward of Charleston, S.C., Troy Pollard of Alamo, Winfred Pollard of Helena and Darryle Pollard of Jesup; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Lowe’s Funeral Home of Helena was in charge of arrangements.
Carey Latermer Rawlins
Services for Carey Latermer Rawlins of McRae were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14 in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with interment at 4 p.m. in Arlington Memorial Park in Atlanta.
The Rev. Rob Robinson officiated.
Rawlins, 79, died Monday, Jan. 12, 2004. A native of Weirsdale, Fla. he was the son of the late Olin Latermer and Dolly Watson Rawlins and was the widower of Betty Byrd Rawlins.
He was a retired salesperson with Swift Meat Co., was a member of Piedmont Baptist Church of Marietta, and was a 50 year member of Chamblee Masonic Lodge #444 and was in the United States Air Force. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Byrd Rawlins and a son, David C. Rawlins.
Survivors include his son, Chuck Rawlins of Norcross; daughter, Ellen R. Allen of Metter; brothers, Roy Rawlins of McRae, Gerald Rawlins of Barnesville, J.C. Rawlins of Macon and Omri Rawlins of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; sisters, Lavene Johnson and Marie Horne, both of Muzella; and five grandchildren.

Ovelia (Mae) Sheffield
Services for Ovelia (Mae) Sheffield of Maitland, Fla. formerly of Decatur, Ill. were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan.18 in Southerland Funeral Chapel with interment in Sweet Home Cemetery near Milan.
The Rev. Sarah Hale officiated.
Sheffield, 74, died Thursday, Jan. 15, 2004. She was the daughter of the late William and Dora Allen Newkirk and was married to Leeroy Sheffield of Maitland, Fla. She was preceded in death by twin children and a granddaughter.
She was a native of Macon County, Ill. and was a member of Antioch Christian Church. She was a retired librarian and a veteran of the U.S. Army Women’s Corp.
In addition to her husband, survivors include her daughters, Shirley Tish of Maitland, Fla. and Penny Gagnon of Beaufort, N.C.; sons, Michael Sheffield of Decatur, Ill., Kenneth Sheffield of Maroa, Ill., Brian Sheffield of Orange Park, Fla. and Thomas Sheffield of Yuma, Ariz.; brother, William Newkirk of Naperville, Ill.; 17 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
