HOSCHTON - Mrs. Marian McDougald, 68, died Wednesday, June 21, 2000.
Mrs. McDougald was born in Barrow County, a daughter of the late Johnny and Marzee Rockmore Brock.
She had resided in Barrow County for most of her life and was a homemaker and a member of Bethabra Baptist Church.
Mrs. McDougald was preceded in death by her husband, Dallas McDougald.
Funeral services were held Friday, June 23, in the chapel of Carter Funeral Home, Winder, with the Revs. Gary Carlyle and Leonard Murphy officiating. Burial was in the Bethabra Baptist Church cemetery.
Survivors include two daughters, Betty Carlyle, Hoschton, and Sandra Nix, Winder; seven sons, Ray McDougald, Michael McDougald and Alan McDougald, all of Hoschton, Steve McDougald, Bethlehem, Kenneth McDougald and Billy McDougald, both of Auburn, and Danny McDougald, Winder; two sisters, Janice Doster, Hoschton, and Brenda Wehunt, Winder; two brothers, Troy Brock, Winder, and David Brock, Hoschton; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

MRS. SMITH

WINDER - Mrs. Elma M. Smith, 73, died Sunday, June 25, 2000.
Mrs. Smith was born in Barrow County, a daughter of the late Nellie Lou Hamby Mathews and the late Dr. W.L. Mathews.
She was a graduate of Winder High School and of North Georgia College. Mrs. Smith was a retired supervisor with Flowers By Jim of Winder and was a member of Whistleville Christian Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, T.H. Smith Jr.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, June 27, in Rose Hill cemetery with the Rev. Dwight Haymon officiating.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Don L. and Suzanne Smith, Charlotte, N.C.; son, Richard E. "Dickie" Smith, Winder; daughter, Diane Smith, Winder; two sisters, Dorothy M. Sharpton, Gainesville, and Naomi M. Deifell, Montreat, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.

MR. CAMP
Retired supervisor
JEFFERSON - David Crouch "D.C." Camp, 78, died Sunday, June 25, 2000, at his residence following an extended illness.
Born in Randolph County, Ala., Mr. Camp was a son of the late John Thomas and Maude Crouch Camp.
He was a graduate of Five Points High School, attended Georgia Military College and was a graduate of the International Accountant Society. Mr. Camp was a retired supervisor of Finance & Accounting at Jackson Electric Membership Corpora-tion, with 25 1/2 years of service.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Commerce, where he served on the Board of Deacons.
He loved sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with others and was very active in the outreach and visitation ministry of his church, said his wife. He loved working with young people and was able to go on many adult and youth mission trips. Music was a big part of his life and he enjoyed singing in the church choir and going to singings in the area.
Mr. Camp also served as past president of the Jefferson Rotary Club.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 28, at the First Baptist Church of Commerce with the Rev. Don Paulson officiating. Burial was in Woodbine Cemetery, Jefferson. Fred Jackson, Fred Gurley, Randal Pugh, William Westbrooks, the Rev. Charles Britt and the Rev. Steve Wells served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were the deacons of the First Baptist Church of Commerce and members of the Friendly 57 Sunday School Class.
Survivors include his wife, Sybil Kelley Camp; daughter and son-in-law, Sylvia and Kenneth McDonald, Jefferson; three sisters, Lois Camp and Eleanor Cater, both of LaGrange, and Margaret Weaver, Jackson; two brothers, Woodrow Camp, Opelika, Ala., and Dewey Camp, Chamblee; grandchildren, Ken and Kristy McDonald, both of Jefferson; and nieces and nephews.

Mildred Pendley
Mildred Anne Pendley, age 81 of Decatur, Ga. died March 10, 2008.
She is survived by her sister, Jane Wingate, Decatur; brother and sister-in-law, John and Diane Pendley, Jasper, Ga.; niece, Anne Wingate, Snellville; nephew and his wife, Jack W. and Karen Wingate, E. Sparta, Oh.; great-nieces, Katherine and Christine Wingate, both of E. Sparta.
Miss Pendley was a native of Atlanta and a graduate of Girls High School and the University of Georgia. She was retired from the Atlanta City School System after 40 years of service. Miss Pendley enjoyed researching her family history and did extensive research with the family tree. She loved music and reading and was the last amateur member of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra as a cellist.
The funeral service was held Thursday, March 13 at 1 p.m. from the Chapel of Westview Abbey with Jack William Wingate, Jr. officiating. Entombment followed in Westview cemetery Abbey. Charles Poland
Mr. Charles Thomas Poland, age 85 of Canton, Ga., passed away March 10, 2008.
Mr. Poland served in the US Navy and was a WW II veteran. He was a retired draftsman with the EPA and a volunteer probation officer in Cobb County. Mr. Poland was a resident of Pickens County for 20 years.
Survivors include his son, Tom Poland, Marietta; and daughters, Bonnie Poland, Canton, and Kathy Jones, Ellijay. Seven grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Monday, March 17 from Sosebee Memorial Chapel. iIntermentfollowed in the Georgia National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association or the local humane society.
Velma Fitts
Ms. Velma Gaynelle Fitts, age 72 of of Jasper, Ga., passed Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at her residence following a period of declining health.
Born Dec. 16, 1935 in Pickens County, she was the daughter of the late Henry Gilbert and Grace Jones Fitts. Ms. Fitts had worked at Jasper City Florist, was a bookkeeper having prepared taxes for numerous people and was a member of the Long Swamp Baptist Church.
Survivors include her brother and sisters-in-law, Lawrence and Sandra Fitts, Canton, and Billie Faye Fitts, LaGrange, Ga. Several nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 14 from Long Swamp Baptist Church with the Revs. Gene Childers and Marcus McKinney officiating. iIntermentfollowed in the church cemetery. Marvin Young, Sr.
Mr. Marvin William Young, Sr., age 81 of Ranger, passed away Friday, March 14, 2008 at his residence.
Mr. Young was born in Gordon County on March 6, 1927, son of the late Bob and Minnie Townsend Young. He was retired from the textile industry.
Mr. Young was also preceded in death by his brothers, Verlon and Max Young; sisters, Alma Brannon, Ella Mae Silvers and Suelane Mulkey; and a son-in-law, Tommy Buttrum.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Willene Tatum Young; sons and daughter-in-law, Marvin and Susan Young, Jr. and Marlin Young; and daughter, Angela Buttrum, Fairmount. Three grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild also survives.

Flonnie Gee
Mrs. Flonnie Mae Gee, age 88 of Calhoun, passed away Sunday morning, March 16, 2008 at Gordon Health Care Center.
Mrs. Gee was born on Sept. 25, 1919 in Cherokee County, Ga., the daughter of the late Hiram and Victoria Clark Cowart. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Hubert Gee; a son, E.J. Gee; and five sisters and two brothers. During her lifetime, she and her husband were poultry producers. She was a member of Eastgate Baptist Church where she was a member of the Ladies Sunday School Class. Mrs. Gee was a member of the Gordon County Senior Citizens Center and the Rocking Chair Band.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Rhelda and M.D. Casey, Calhoun; son and daughters-in-law, Jimmy and Brenda Gee and Jeannette Gee, all of Calhoun; sister- and brother-in-law, Ruby and Pat Gray, Hampton, Ga.; grandchildren, Pam and Robert Rhienhart, Brenda and Freddy Fletcher, Chris Gee, Teresa and Roy King and Lynne and Matt Barton; and great-grandchildren, Nolan, Nelson and Nicole Rhienhart, Jeremy and Tyler King and Kathryn and and Leslie Barton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held Monday at 2 p.m. from Eastgate Baptist Church with the Rev. Kenny Rogers officiating. Brother Lamar Hand conducted the graveside service at Fain Cemetery. Sarah Holmes
Mrs. Sarah Holmes, age 78 of Big Canoe, passed away Monday, March 10, 2008 at her residence.
Survivors include her husband, Dr. Charles Holmes, Big Canoe; son and daughter-in-law, Lee and Karen Holmes, Washington, D.C.; sister and brother-in-law, Bronna and Grant Godwin, Gainesville, Fl.; and grandchildren, Joshua Holmes and Jessica Sinclair Karp. Mrs. Holmes was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda Sinclair.
A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 13 at Big Canoe Cemetery. A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 17 from Big Canoe Chapel with Dr. James McCormick and Rev. Lamar Helms officiating. Cagle Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Edith Bishop
Mrs. Edith Cavell Bishop, age 83 of the Jerusalem Community in Pickens County, Ga., passed Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at her residence.
Survivors include her sons, James Bishop, Gainesville, Fl., and William Steve Bishop, Grayson, Ga.; daughter and son-in-law, Edie and Mike Mraz, Jerusalem Community; brother, William Earl Roark, Gallatin, Tn.; sisters, Earline Butner, Nashville, Tn., and Vercie Nell Morell, Goshen, Va.; and grandchildren, James Bishop, Jr., Debra and Lamar Adcox, Kaleigh, Emaleigh, Evan and Justin Adcox.
Visitation was Thursday, March 13 at Cagle Funeral Home in Jasper. The remains were transported to Spring Hill Funeral Home in Nashville for visitation and the funeral service was Saturday, March 15 at the funeral home with interment in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
Berchard DeBoard
Mr. Berchard DeBoard, age 74 of Talking Rock, passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at Heartland Hospice House in Cartersville.
Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and Mike Grimes, Big Canoe, and Donna and Teddy Cawley, Talking Rock; special friend, Pat Stowe; sister-in-law, Lois DeBoard, Jasper; grandson, Mason Cawley; granddaughter, Hannah Howell; great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Cody Cawley and Hunter, Gracie and Lawson Howell. Berchard was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Hazel Mosley DeBoard, Jasper; father, Joseph Clayton DeBoard; mother, Virgie Patterson DeBoard; and brother, Clayton Deboard, Jr.

Violet Richardson
Mrs. Violet Richardson, age 107 of Talking Rock, passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital.
Survivors include a son, Rich Richardson, Las Vegas, Ne.; daughter, Leta Davis, Talking Rock; and sisters, Velma Peet, California, and Bertha Groger, Oregon. Eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 22 great-great-grandchildren also survive.

Rev. Roy Blackwell
Rev. Roy Blackwell, age 90 of Jasper, formerly of Ball Ground, passed away Thursday, March 13, 2008 at Canton Nursing Home.
Survivors include his wife, Ozelle Blackwell; and sons, Leonard Blackwell, Jasper, and Robert Blackwell, Ball Ground. Six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren also survive. Rev. Blackwell was preceded in death by a son, Lamar Blackwell.

Rheba Bell
Mrs. Rheba Bell, age 94 of Jasper, passed away Saturday, March 15, 2008 at Mountain Health Care in Jasper.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Linda Bell, Talking Rock; daughter and son-in-law, Harriett Bell Erwin and Jim, Talking Rock; sister, Jane McCarthy, Springfield, Ga.; grandchildren, Jim, Jr., Chris and Steve Erwin, Allison Kirbert and Casey Bell; six great-grandchildren; and special friend, Stephannie Grisham.

Mrs. Nancy Cobb, age 69 of Jasper, passed away Friday, March 14, 2008 at Heartland Hospice House in Cartersville.
Survivors include her husband, George Cobb, Jasper; sons and daughters-in-law, John and Karla Cobb, Ball Ground, and Jason Cobb and Sally Kim, Redmon, Wa.; sister, Melba Chastain, Woodstock; and grandchildren, Avery and Parker Cobb.

Annie Fields
Mrs. Annie Mae Jones Fields, age 94 of Marietta, passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at Wellstar Cobb Hospital in Austell.
Survivors include her sons, Jack Jones, Powder Springs, and J. Kenneth Jones, Marietta. Four grandchildren, one great-grandchild and nieces and nephews also survive.

Dennis Mintz
Dennis Forest Mintz, age 60 of Jasper, Ga. and Venice, Fl., passed away on March 14, 2008. He was born in Wayne County, Michigan on May 28, 1947. He was a retired real estate agent. Mr. Mintz has visited the Venice area for the past 20 years. He graduated with a BA degree from the University of Virginia, a member of the Big Canoe Chapel and resident of the Big Canoe Country Club in Jasper.
Survivors include his mother, Mary Lou Retty, Venice; sister, Sandra Hurt, Nokomis; nephews, Joe Hurt, Ft. Lauderdale, Fa., and Randy Hurt, Cape Coral, Fa.; and niece, Mary McMullen, Nokomis.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 20 at 1 p.m. from Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Venice. Burial will follow at Gulf Pines Memorial Park in Englewood. Warren Peterson
Mr. Warren Lewis “Pete” Peterson of Jasper, Ga. passed away Friday, Feb. 15, 2008 at his residence following a period of declining health.
Born in Mission Hill, S.D., he was the son of the late William Howard and Olga Christine Bruget Peterson. Mr. Peterson retired from Midas, was a World War II veteran having served in the Merchant Marines and was a member of the Jasper United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mary Duval Peterson, Jasper; daughter and son-in-law, Kristina and John Lummus, Talking Rock, Ga.; son, Terrence Lee “Terry” Peterson, Sanford, Fl.; granddaughter, Jessica Peterson, Apopka, Fl.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Louella and Robert Knowles, Spring Hill, Fl., Mrs. Etta Linssen, St. Paul, Mn., Jeanette and Bud Druger, Betterndorf, Ia., and John Heines, Scottsdale, Ar.; and brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Dean and Elizabeth Peterson, Franklin, Tn. Several nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
At his request, Mr. Peterson was cremated and a memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19 from Jasper United Methodist Church with the Revs. Max Caylor, Jerry Peele and Scott Uzzel, M.Div., officiating. iIntermentof cremains followed in Georgia National cemetery in Canton, Ga. with military honors.
