Mr. Wylie Carver, age 84 of Mableton, Ga. and formerly of Pickens County, passed Wednesday evening, August 18, 2010 at Wellstar Cobb Hospital, Austell, Ga.
Survivors include his wife, Reba Carver, Mableton; brother, Marion J. Carver, Jasper; and sister, Corene Thomason, Marietta. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held Saturday, August 21 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Rev. Howard McCormick
Mr. Howard A. McCormick, age 77 of Jasper, Ga., passed away on Sunday, August 22, 2010 at his residence.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce McCormick, Jasper; son, Paul McCormick, Jasper; daughters and sons-in-law, Sheila and Rich Auffrey, Canton, and Charlyn and Jeff Osmar, Waleska; and brother Daniel G. McCormick, Chocowinity, N.C. Four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren also survive.
A memorial Service will be held Thursday August 26 at 11 a.m. from Darby Huey Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Georgia National cemetery at 1:30. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Junior ROTC Cherokee High School.

Mrs. Winell Jarrett Ingram, age 80 of Jasper, Ga., passed Monday afternoon, August 9, 2010 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Judy Jarrett and Denny and Pat Jarrett, all of Jasper; daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Donnie Reynolds, Jasper; brother, Terry Pendley, Dawsonville; sisters, Marie Higgins, Jasper, Naomi Baldwin, Ball Ground, and Colleen Slaton, Dawsonville; brother-in-law, Glen Jarrett, Jasper; and sister-in-law, Mildred Pendley, Canton. Six grandchildren, one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Charles Eckert
Mr. Charles R. Eckert, age 77 of Jasper, Ga., passed at his residence early Monday morning, August 9, 2010.
Survivors include his wife, Joan Eckert, Jasper; sons, William Eckert, New Jersey, and Charles R. Eckert, Jr., Marietta; and daughter, Shirley Silver, McDonough, Ga. Five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Piccola Holcomb
Mrs. Piccola Holcomb, age 80 of Jasper, Ga., passed away Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Bavaria Holcomb, Bryson City, N.C.; grandchildren, Nathan Holcomb, Gibsonville, N.C., and Niccole Pierce, Bryson City; great-granddaughter, Aubrey Pierce, Bryson City; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Faye Evans, Ranger, Ga.; step-brother, Elmer Evans, Woodstock Ga.; and step-sister, Ollie Dobbs, Woodstock, Ga. A host of nieces and nephews also survive.

Mr. Gene “Shorty” Clark, age 75 of the Hill City Community, passed early Wednesday morning, August 11, 2010 at his residence.
Survivors include his wife, Edith Clark, Hill City; sons and daughters-in-law, Kim and Mike Clark, both of Jasper, and Chad and Jamie Clark, Athens, Ga.; and daughter, Karen Clark, Jasper. Seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held Thursday, August 12 at 2 p.m. from Friendship Baptist Church, with the remains placed in state at the church at 1:30. Bertha Stevenson
Mrs. Bertha L. Pettit Stevenson, age 69 of Marble Hill, Ga., passed away on Monday, August 16, 2010, at her home under the care of United Hospice after losing her battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born April 15, 1941 in Cherokee County, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Rev. and Mrs. Ernest Cannon of Canton, Ga. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert Cannon, Smyrna, Ga.
Mrs. Stevenson had worked as a manager for Cato’s and was of the Baptist Faith.
Survivors include her husband, Alvin Stevenson, Sr., Ball Ground; daughters and sons-in-law, Tina and Lanny Lusk, Jasper, and Tammy and Barry Cambron, Canton; children, Dawn and Ricky Stevenson, both of Ohio; and sister and brother-in-law, Jeanette and Herbert Cox, Cartersville, Ga. Thirteen grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, August 19 from the Roper Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Johnny McPherson, Grant Wade and Mike Ware officiating. The interment will follow in Lake Forest Memorial Park. Pallbearer are: James and Claude Pettit, Doyle Hughes, Robert and Joel Cox and Chris Young. The family will receive friends until the funeral hour on Thursday.
Betty Bartlett
Mrs. Betty Zane Bartlett, age 84 of Smyrna, Ga., died Wednesday, August 4, 2010, at Northside Hospital-Cherokee in Canton, Ga. following a period of declining health.
Born Dec. 7, 1925 in Fort Fairfield, Ma., she was the daughter of the late Roy Alexander and Belle Kinniy Clarke. She was also preceded in death by her husband, George Junior Bartlett.
Mrs. Bartlett had worked in the Admissions Office of Autumn Breeze Nursing Home and was a member of the Cool Springs Baptist Church in Pickens County.
Survivors include, daughter and son-in-law, Pamela White, Jasper, Ga., and Paula and Danny Lambert, Smyrna, Ga.; son and daughter-in-law, George Jr. and Kim Bartlett, Roswell, Ga.; grandchildren, Kimberly and Bill Allen, Ball Ground, Ga., Joshua David and Brittney White, North Carolina, Zachary White, Roswell, Ga., Charles Bartlett, Amelia Island, Fl., Kendall Bartlett, Athens, Ga., Heather and Run Sanh, Hiram, Ga., and Lauren and Kylie Lambert, both of Smyrna, Ga.; great-grandchildren, Bella White, North Carolina, and Emma Sanh, Hiram, Ga.; and sister, Leona “Tickie” Allen, Maine. Mrs. Muriel Mowery Hollingshead, age 87 of Jasper, passed away Monday, July 26, 2010 at her residence.
Survivors include her son, Rex Carlisle; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Herman, Sr. and the late Judy Hollingshead and Johnny and Mary Hollingshead, all of Jasper; and special niece and nephew, Cindy and Alan Timms, Jasper. Several other nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Hollingshead; son, Richard Mowery; and brother-in-law, Edward Hollingshead.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 7 from Bible Way House of Worship in Talking Rock with the Rev. Mrs. Lois Caylor Holcombe, age 87 of Jasper, Ga., passed early Tuesday morning, August 3, 2010 at her residence.
Survivors include her brothers, Phillip Caylor, Jasper, Billy Caylor, Roswell, and Jerry Caylor, McMinnville, Tn.; sisters, Evelyn Duvall, Calhoun, Nancy Gail Wheeler, Louisville, Ky., and Jewell Caylor Godfrey, Jasper; grandchildren, Tim and Tracy Wheeler, Donna Weaver and Teddy Wheeler; great-grandchildren, Carrie Russell-Howlende, Donnie and Sierra Wheeler, Nicole Weaver, Chelsea Wheeler and Dylan Weaver; and great-great-grandchild, Breanna Russell-Howlende.

Mrs. Esther Holbert Fountain, age 91 of Jasper, Ga., passed Friday afternoon, August 6, 2010 at Heritage Health Care in Jasper.
Survivors include her sons, Vernon and Charles Holbert, Jasper, and Roger Holbert, Florida; daughter, Ruth Taylor, Jasper; brother, Clarence Mealer, Douglasville; and sister, Bonnie Parks, Dalton, Ga. Ten grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren also survive.

Sandra Hicks, age 53 of Ball Ground, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 23, 2010 at her residence.

Annie Hampton
Ms. Annie Julia Hampton, age 64 of Smyrna, Ga., passed away on Thursday, Sept. 23, 2010, at Tranquility Hospice in Austell, Ga. following her battle with cancer.
Born Nov. 27, 1945, Ms. Hampton was a press operator for HD Lee and was a member of the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Jasper, Ga.
Survivors include her brother, Mr. Julian Hampton, Wayne, Mi.; and nieces and nephews, Andrea Davis, Yolanda McKinzie, Tara, Clyde, Harper and Norma Davis. Other relatives also survive.

John Barclay
Mr. John Douglas Barclay, age 54 of Jasper, Ga., passed away on Thursday, Sept. 22, 2010 following a sudden illness. Born March 11, 1956, Mr. Barclay was an engineer for Gilabeau Marine Service and was a member of Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church in Jasper.
Survivors include his mother and step-father, Mr. and Mrs. Jim and Joyce Weatherby, Jasper; father, John Thomas Barclay, Wydourie, Al.; son, John Gabriel Hall, Newnan, Ga.; daughter, Marshelle Meanne Whitaker, Mableton, Ga.; sister, Susan Christine Fortes, Talking Rock, Ga.; and brothers, Perry Allen Barclay, Douglasville, Ga., and Thomas Daniel Barclay, Winston, Ga.
At his request, Mr. Barclay was cremated and a memorial service was held at the Holy Family Episcopal Church at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 25 with the Rev. George S. Yandell officiating. Roper Funeral Home of Jasper in charge of the arrangements.
Lela Gilreath
Lela Trammell Gilreath, age 96 of Jasper, died Friday, Sept. 24, 2010 at Cumming Nursing Center following a short illness.
Born May 30, 1914 in Dawson County to the late John and Ella Beck Trammell, she had lived in Jasper for the past 14 years. A homemaker at her death, she was formerly employed by Sweet Orr and Big Canoe. Mrs. Gilreath was the oldest member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church and was also preceded in death by her husband, Guy Taft Gilreath; daughter-in-law, Sue Stripland Gilreath; son-in-law, Hubert Ledbetter; five sisters; and two brothers.
Surviving are her children, Marcelle Ledbetter, Dawsonville, Lloyd and Jean Gilreath, Memphis, Tn., Morris and Peggy Gilreath, Gainesville, Donald Gilreath, Dawsonville, and David Gilreath, Jasper; and sister, Edith Blackwell, Marble Hill. Fourteen grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
