Carolyn McReady Horton
Services for Carolyn McReady Horton of Jacksonville were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7 at Friendship Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery.
The Rev. Howard Hart and the Rev. Sonny Pate officiated.
Horton, died Monday, Jan. 5, 2004. She was the daughter of the late Raymond Leroy and Georgia Mae Roberson McReady.
She was a native of Telfair County and was retired from Roydon Wear of McRae.
Survivors include her sister and brother-in-law, Gloria Ann and Thomas Giddens of Jacksonville, Ga. and two nieces.
Lowe’s Funeral Home of Helena was in charge of arrangements.

Marty Tomberlin
Services for Marty Tomberlin of Rhine will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15 in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with interment in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
The Rev. Bill Jones and the Rev. Larry Thompson will officiate.
Tomberlin, 44, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2004. He was the son of Betty Lou Yawn of Milan and Franklin Tomberlin of Rhine.
He was a native of Dodge County and was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and was a carpenter.
In addition to his parents, survivors include his sisters, Felicia Williams of McRae and Samantha Berry of Buford; brothers, Reg Tomberlin of Rhine and Jess Yawn of Milan.
Stokes-Southerland Funeral Homes of Eastman will be in charge of arrangements.

Ina Mae Gatins
Ina Mae Gatins, 87, of Northside Parkway of Atlanta died Friday, Jan. 9, 2004. Memorial services will be announced at later date.
She was the daughter of the late Joseph Ryland Crabb and Mary Jennie Gilleon Crabb and was with widow of Joseph Francis Gatins Sr.
Gatins, was a native of Wheeler County and had lived in Atlanta for the past 65 years. She was a graduate of the Rabun Gap Nacoochee School. She worked for the American Red Cross during World War II and was a retired personal shopper with Rich’s.
Survivors include her sons, Joseph Francis Gatins Jr. of Gray and John Michael Gatins of Atlanta; brother, Kelly Crabb of McRae; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Bridges Funeral Home of Gray was in charge of arrangements.

Ralph Brown
Services for Ralph Brown of McRae were held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 27 in the chapel of Lowe’s Funeral Home with interment in the Milan City Cemetery.
The Rev. Terry Tribble officiated.
Brown, 69, died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2003. He was the son of the late John and Irene Hart Brown and was married to Beverly Brown of McRae.
He was a native of Milan, a member of Scotland Baptist Church, a farmer and was a retired police officer.
In addition to his wife, survivors include his sons, Ralph David Brown of Chauncey and Ralph Daniel Brown of Jacksonville, Fla.; daughter, Elaine Brown Atherton of Key West, Fla.; brothers, John Brown of Scotland and Perry Brown of Jacksonville, Fla.; sister, Delorise Tribble of Mauk; and four grandchildren.
Family request that donations be made to Midway Men’s Prayer Breakfast, c/o Jack Lowery, Rt. 2 Box 98, McRae, Ga. 31055.
Lowe’s Funeral Home of Helena was in charge of arrangements.

William Maxwell “Mack” Chambers Sr.
Services for William Maxwell “Mack” Chambers Sr. of Milan were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6 in Rockwell Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery.
The Rev. Sherwin L. Bell and the Rev. Marvin Earl Parkerson officiated.
Chambers, 89, died Saturday, Jan. 3, 2004. He was the widower of Mandylu Cravey Chambers and was married to Gedia Chambers of Milan.
He was a native of Telfair County, was retired from the civil service at Robins Air Force Base and was a farmer. He was a Veteran of World War II and was a member of Milan Masonic Lodge and a member of Rockwell Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, survivors include his children, Betty C. Knowles and Frankie C. Johnson, both of Milan, David Floyd Chambers and Helen C. Rutledge, both of Lizella, William Max Chambers Jr. of Rhine, Ramona C. Duckworth of Flat Rock, N.C., and Martha Faircloth of Pineview; 18 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Ramsey Knowles, Terry Yancey, David Chambers Jr., Steve Underwood, Greg Chambers, Joseph Rutledge, James Chambers and Daniel Chambers.
Lowe’s Funeral Home of Helena was in charge of arrangements.

Mary Barber Douglass
Graveside services for Mary Barber Douglass of Starke, Fla. formerly of McRae were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 2 in the Telfair Memorial Gardens.
Dr. William Connell officiated.
Douglass, 86, died Monday, Dec. 29, 2003. She was the daughter of the late Jessie J. and Ida Minnie Hodges Barber and was the widow of James W. Douglass Sr.
She was a native of Jacksonville, Fla., was a homemaker and a member of the McRae First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her sons, James Wiley Douglass of Houston, Texas, Donald Gerald Douglass of Maxville, Fla. and Allan Jerome Douglass of Stockridge; daughter, Mary Sharon Hallitt of Jacksonville Beach, Fla.; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Vaughn Funeral Home of McRae was in charge of arrangements.

LaRue Yawn Dykes
Services for LaRue Yawn Dykes of McRae were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 3 in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with interment in the Telfair Memorial Gardens.
The Rev. Raymond Dunn, the Rev. W.R. Connell and the Rev. Steve Frazier officiated.
Dykes, 64, died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2003. She was the daughter of Lila Mae Smith of McRae and the late Curtis Woodrow Yawn and was married to Ernest Dykes of McRae.
She was a native of Dodge County and had lived most of her life in Telfair County where she was the owner of Video City. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband and her mother, survivors include her sons, Ernest Dykes Jr. of Vidalia and Tim Dykes of McRae; sisters, Shirley Nelson of Sun City, Ariz. and Janet Rogers of McRae; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Vaughn Funeral Home of McRae was in charge of arrangements.

Clyde Fullwood
Services for Clyde Fullwood of McRae were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31 at the Religious Center of McRae with interment in Spaulding Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
The Rev. Joyce Tomblin officiated.
Fullwood, 78, died Thursday, Dec. 25, 2003. He was the son of the late Isiah Fullwood and Inez Ryals Fullwood and was married to Cassandera Fullwood.
He was a native of Hickory, N.C. and was a retired United States Army and Bethlehem Steel Corp. of Baltimore, Md.
In addition to his wife, survivors include his sisters, Bobbi Nell Jones of McRae and Mary Joe Bryant of Bellgade, Fla. and six step grandchildren.
A.L. Spaulding Funeral Home of McRae was in charge of arrangements.

Juanita E. Pope
Services for Juanita E. Pope of Alamo were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 5 at the Alamo United Methodist Church in Alamo with interment in the Alamo City Cemetery.
The Rev. Nick Hazelton and the Rev. Harry Hawkins officiated.
Pope, 84, died Friday, Jan. 2, 2004. She was a native of Wheeler County and had resided most of her life there. She had lived in Monroe for the past nine years.
Survivors include her daughter, Maria Dixon of Monroe; sister, Hazel Joyce of Alamo and two grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family ask donations be made to the Alamo Memorial City Cemetery Fund in c/o Linda Burke, P.O. Box 163, Alamo, 30411.
Towns Funeral Home of Alamo was in charge of arrangements.
