Carolyn Warden
Mrs. Carolyn Warden, age 61 of Jasper, passed away Thursday, Nov. 11, 2010 at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta.
Survivors include her husband, Fred Warden, Jasper; son and daughter-in-law, Dwayne and Kim Warden, Jasper; daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Ronnie Grizzle, Dahlonega; brothers and sister-in-law, Harold and Cheryl Spivey and Bobby Spivey, all of Marietta; sisters and brother-in-law, Shirley and Bobby Gunter, Powder Springs, and Darlene Temples, Dawsonville; and grandchildren, Nathan Grizzle, Hannah and Halianna Warden and Eli Grizzle. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Mrs. Warden was preceded in death by her son, Darrell Warden; and granddaughter, Abigail Warden.

Mrs. Christine Wyman, age 48 of Jasper, passed away Thursday, Nov. 11, 2010 at her residence.
Survivors include her husband, Mike Wyman, Jasper; mother, Maggie Young, Jasper; sons and daughter-in-law, Eric and Jeanne Wyman and Shawn Wyman, all of Jasper; daughters and sons-in-law, Stephanie and John Davis and Brittany and Todd Lockey, all of Jasper; brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard and Joanne Young, Ricky and Vicky Young and Randy and Carol Young, all of Jasper; sisters and brothers-in-law, Merilyn and Dale Coggins, Calhoun, and Sara and Jerry Wyman, Talking Rock; and grandchildren, Wesley Wyman, Nathan Lockey, Melissa Davis and Dawn Lockey. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

William Childers
Mr. William Truman Childers, age 68 of Jasper, Ga., departed this life Sunday, Nov. 14, 2010 at Roswell Nursing and Rehab Center.
Truman was born April 13, 1942 in Pickens County, a son of the late Arthur and Ella Fountain Childers. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Doc, Hilburn and Wilburn Childers; and sister, Louise Yancey.
Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Danny and Darlene Childers, Fairmount, and Randy and Lisa Childers, Jasper; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Jeff Hyde, Jasper; brothers and sisters-in-law, Clem and Ann Childers, Canton, and Bob and Annie Childers, Waleska; and sisters, Stella McDaniel, Ludville, Claudine Prather, Jasper, and Betty Spencer, Talking Rock. Five grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survives.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mr. Childers was held Tuesday, Nov. 16 at 11 a.m. from the Fairmount Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home with the Rev. Travis Childers and Chaplin Tom Mozley officiating. The family requests donations be made to the funeral home.
Charles Bruner
Mr. Charles Bruner, age 66 of Jasper, passed away Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010 at Embracing Hospice in Cumming.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Bruner, Jasper; son, Charles Jones, Ball Ground; and daughters, Elizabeth Edwards, Buford, Missy Carpenter, Tennessee, Tammy Mendoza, Dawsonville, Charly Bruner, Buford, and Mandy Waycaster, Jasper. Thirteen grandchildren and one great-grandson also survive.
A graveside service was held at 11 a.m. at Sawnee View Gardens in Cumming with Pastor Tommy Sanford officiating. Pallbearers were: Pat, Daniel and Bryson Childers, Juan Perez, Brandon Jones, Brandon, Phillip and Greg Moss, Chris Wilkie and Andy Heath. Bryce Roper
Mr. Bryce Charles Dean Roper, age 16 of Jasper, Ga., died Sunday, Oct. 31, 2010 at Grady Memorial Hospital.
Born Feb. 17, 1994, Bryce was a student at Pickens High School.
Survivors include his step-father and mother, Chris and Melissa Holloway West, Jasper; father, Frankie Roper, Yellow Creek Community; sisters, Brittany Roper and fiance David Hensley and Bristal and Brinna West, all of Jasper; grandparents, Larry and Karen Holloway and Frank and Adel Roper, all of Ball Ground, and Mike and Shirley West, Talking Rock; great-grandmothers, Madge Holloway, Ball Ground, and Evelyn Parris, Talking Rock; niece, Braylee Hensley, Jasper; aunts and uncles, Kenny and Wendy Holloway, Hill City, Kevin and Lucie Holloway, Washington, Cane and Michelle Smith, Yellow Creek Community, and Justin and Hope Spivey, Ellijay; and cousins, Emerald and Amber Smith, Yellow Creek Community, and Lilly and Caroline Holloway, Hill City. Gussie Akin
Gussie Mae England Akin, age 98 of Jasper, Ga., formerly of Tucker, Ga., died Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2010.
Mrs. Akin was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Akin; son, Curtis Akin; daughter-in-law, Jo Helen Akin; and two grandsons.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Marion (Mac) McDaniel, Jasper; son, Kenneth Akin, Tucker; daughter-in-law, Peggy Akin, Decatur; and grandchildren, Susan (Edward) Johnson, Marcia McDaniel, Steve (Tammie) McDaniel, Debbie (Ed) Harmon, Daryl (Martha) Akin, Lee Ann Akin and Jean McDaniel (Tom) Fowler. Eight great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews also survive.
A graveside service was held Saturday, Nov. 6 at 2 p.m. at Floral Hills Memory Gardens in Tucker with the Rev. Larry Hannah officiating. The family did accept flowers or memorial gifts may be made to the First Baptist Church of Tucker or The Joy House. Roper Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Rosa Lewis
Rosa Mae Young Lewis, age 90 of Marietta, died Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010.
Mrs. Lewis retired from the office of the Georgia Secretary of State. After retirement she became a cashier for the Marietta Fruit Company.
Survivors include her son, Clyde Young and wife Pat, Marietta; brother, Bobby Fleming and wife Marilyn, Jasper; grandsons, Jim Tarver and Kay Helton, Marietta, Tal Tarver and his wife Lisa, Blue Ridge; and great-granddaughters, Samantha and Tara Tarver. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Hazle Ray
Mrs. Hazle Thomas Ray, age 72 of Jasper, Ga., died Friday, Nov. 5, 2010 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital following a period of declining health.
Born Jan. 9, 1938 in Marietta, Ga., she was preceded in death by her son, Mark Ray.
Survivors include her husband, John Ray, Jasper; sons, Gary Ray, Jasper, Barry Ray, Canton, and Terry Ray, Woodstock; sister, Lillie Keies, Mableton; and brothers, Ernest Thomas, Adairsville, and Buddy Thomas, Acworth. Ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive.

Voncile Moser
Mrs. Voncile Moser, age 78 of Jasper, passed away Sunday, Nov. 7, 2010 at Kennestone Hospital.
Survivors include her husband, Jack Moser, Jasper; daughter, Gail Webster, Talking Rock; step-sons, James Abbott, John Moser III and Delbert Sickelsmith, all of Jasper; step-daughters, Joyce Abbott, Michelle Abbott and Lana Moser Shipman, all of Jasper; brother, James Whitsell, Yellow Creek; and sisters, Eunice Johnson, Yellow Creek, Shirley Frix, Dawson County, Betty Faye Ellis, Yellow Creek, Martha Sue Whitsell and Amma Dell Whitsell, both of Jasper. Four grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Mrs. Moser was preceded in death by her son, Randall Padgett.

Drew Buchanan
Mr. Drurey (Drew) Buchanan, age 46 of Jasper, passed away Sunday, Oct. 31, 2010 at his residence.
He is survived by his sons and daughter-in-law, Timothy and Courtney Buchanan and Joshua Buchanan, all of Jasper; brother, Michael Buchanan, Marble Hill; sisters, Regina Buchanan, Talking Rock, and Ramona Walden, Waleska; and granddaughter, Kaelin Jade Buchanan. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Drew was cremated and a memorial service was held at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 3 from Four Mile Baptist Church with the Revs. Frank Lathery and Greg Bryant officiating. The family prefers that donations be made to Cagle Funeral Home to help with expenses.
Benny Wright
Mr. Benny Wright, age 72 of Jasper, passed away Monday, Nov. 1, 2010 at his residence.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Wright, Jasper; son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Mary Wright, Canton; step-son and step-daughter-in-law, Scott and Chrissy Fountain, Canton; daughter and son-in-law, Denise and Lamar Mooney, Jasper; brothers, I.O., Jr., Preston and Wilburn Wright, all of Alpharetta, and Jerry Wright, Forsyth County; and sisters, Barbara Heard, Joan Martin and Judy Holcomb, all of Alpharetta. Six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Jerry Crook
Mr. Jerry Lee Crook, age 64 of Fairmount, passed away Monday, Nov. 1, 2010 at his residence.
Survivors include his wife, Louise Crook, Fairmount; son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Jaronda Crook, Fairmount; daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and Charles Holt, Vickie and Ricky Young and Michelle and Ted Davis, all of Fairmount; brothers, Charles, Ronnie and Donnie Crook, all of Fairmount, and Junior Crook, Chatsworth; and sister, Mary Ann Townsend, Fairmount. Thirteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Elizabeth Parker
Mrs. Elizabeth Chandler Parker, age 85, of Marietta, Ga., died Monday, Nov. 15, 2010, at Morning Pointe Assisted Living Center in Calhoun, Ga. following a period of declining health.
Born and raised in Acworth, Ga., Mrs. Parker was a lifetime resident of Marietta. She was the daughter of the late Fed and Hattie Craven Chandler. Mrs. Parker was a lover of her grandchildren, animals, cooking and gardening. She was also a fan of camping and spending time in the Florida Keys. She was a member of the Powers Ferry United Methodist Church in Marietta.
Survivors include her husband, John Leslie Parker, Jr., Big Canoe; daughters, Ginger Collins-Gozer, Davie, Fl., Lisa Baynard, Rutherfordton, N.C., and Susan Jackson, Big Canoe; grandchildren, Aaran Collins, Reston, Va., Andrew Jackson, Meridian, Ms., Matthew Jackson, Willow Spring, N.C., Joel Baynard, Wake Forest, N.C., and Elizabeth Brown, Forest City, N.C.; 5 great-grandchildren; and brother, Ernest Chandler, Acworth, Ga.

Ramon Melendez, Jr.
Mr. Ramon Melendez, Jr., age 79 of Jasper, Ga. and formerly of Tampa, Fl., died Sunday, Oct. 31, 2010 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Jasper following a period of declining health.
Born June 24,1931 in Tampa, he was the son of the late Ramon, Sr. and Maria Barrido Melendez. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Alonso Melendez.
Mr. Melendez was a veteran of the U.St. Marine Corp, having served during the Korean Conflict. He was owner/operator of Café Toni in Tampa.
Survivors include his daughters and son-in-law, Deborah and Mark Darst, Tampa, and Donna Pitsokos, Jasper; grandchildren, Richard Valdes, Roland Moreno, and Natalie Valdes, all of Tampa, and Erika Pitsokos, Jasper; sisters, Carmen Crum, Tampa, Emilia Gallegti, Brandon, Fl., and Helen Melendez, New York; and brother, Robert Melendez, New York.
At his request, Mr. Melendez was cremated and a private family service will be held at a later date. Roper Funeral Home of Jasper was in charge of the arrangements.
