Nola Waddell
Nola Jean “Jeannie” (Herron) Waddell, age 78 of Louisville, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2010 at her home.
Jean was a loving wife, mom and grandmother to her family and substitute mom for many others. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Carl, Jr.; daughter, Mary Beth; mother, Mary Kustes; and sister, Betty Conrad.
Survivors include her daughters, Terry Dunn (Jack) and Lisa Fulton (Dennis; granddaughter, Amanda Abbott (Jason); grandsons, Dereck and Brent Dunn and Aaron Sullivan; and great-granddaughter, Kaila Poole. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. from Owen Funeral Home with burial in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Memorial gifts may be made to the American Cancer Society.

John Adams
Mr. John Franklin Adams, age 69 of Jasper, Ga., died Friday, Nov. 19, 2010 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital following a period of declining health. Born Jan. 23, 1941, in Quincy, Ma., he was the son of the late John Franklin, Sr. and Vera Wagner Adams. Mr. Adams was preceded in death by his daughter, Ms. Shelly Adams. He was employed by Hydrochem and was a member of Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. JoAnn Adams, Jasper; daughter, Heidi Amanda Adams Young, Orlando, Fl.; sisters, Janet Clemons, New Hampshire, and Joan Adams Woods, California; and granddaughter, Abigail Young, Orlando. Several nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

Big John Goble
Mr. Big John Goble, age 63 of the Ludville Community, passed away Saturday, Nov. 20, 2010 at his residence.
Survivors include his wife, Edna Goble, Ludville; brother, Jim Goble, Rome; half-sisters, Mary A. Long, Ludville, and Joann Young, Henderson Mountain; and grandchildren, Michael, Damon and Jimmy Young and Misty Booth. Five great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.

Mr. Johnny Mullinax, age 62 of Jasper, passed away Friday, Nov. 19, 2010 at his residence.
Survivors include his mother, Martha Mullinax, Jasper; daughters and son-in-law, Melissa and Chris Pittman, Jasper, and Jennifer Mullinax, New Orleans, La; sisters and brother-in-law, Shirley Fowler, Canton, and Karen and Ronnie Cantrell, Ellijay; and mother-in-law, Hazel Thurman, Jasper. Nieces and nephews also survive. Johnny was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Rose Mullinax; and father, Dillard Mullinax.

Ms. Cindy Jordan, age 30 of Jasper, passed Saturday afternoon, Nov. 13, 2010 in Jasper as the result of an auto accident.
Survivors include her mother and step-father, Gaye and Robbie Quinton, Talking Rock; father and step-mother, John T. and Anna Jordan, Monterey, Cal.; grandfather, Rudolph and Karin Teichmann; grandmother, Margret Graham, Chicago, Il., close family friend, Shawn McGill; grandparents, Patty and George McGill; daughter, Sophia Maree Jordan, Jasper; brother, Matthew Pike, Jasper; sisters, Renee Jordan Salters, Acworth, Lauren Borel, Alexandria, La., and Caroline and Emily Pike, both of Talking Rock; and nieces and nephews, Morgan and Nathan Salters and Bradyn Borel.

Ada Buttrum
Mrs. Ada Mae Buttrum, age 79 of the Ludville Community, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2010 at her granddaughter’s residence.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Diane Buttrum, Cullman, Al., and Larry and Lorie Buttrum, Ellijay; daughters, Louise Crook, Fairmount, and Diane Young, Ludville; and sister, Inez Hales, Jasper. Eleven grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren also survive. Mrs. Buttrum was preceded in death by her husband, Otis Buttrum; son, Tommy Buttrum; granddaughter, Miranda Mulkey; and sons-in-law, Jerry Crook and Elmo Young.

Mr. Weldon Eaton, age 82 of Tate, passed away Monday, Nov. 15, 2010 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital.

Mr. B.T. Stewart, age 72 of the Hinton Community, passed away Sunday, Jan. 3, 2010 at his residence.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Stewart, Hinton; sons and daughters-in-law, Scott and Kristina Stewart and John and Karron Stewart, all of Hinton; daughters and sons-in-law, Angie and Ben Evans, Jasper, and Cathy and Jeff Roden and Amy and Mike May, all of Hinton; brothers, Emory, Rembert and Jimmy Stewart, all of Hinton; and grandsons, Ethan and Bradley Roden and Ryan David Stewart. Mrs. Jenell Mulkey, age 80 of Talking Rock, passed at her residence Friday afternoon Jan. 8, 2010.

Mrs. Mae Buttrum, age 88 of the Ludville Community, passed at her daughter’s residence in Calhoun Saturday morning, Jan. 9, 2010.
Survivors include her son, J.M. Buttrum, Fairmount; and daughters, Sue Canslet, Calhoun, Margie Childers, Hinton, and Teresa Blalock and Jennie Hamrick, both of Calhoun.Thirty-four grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchild also survive. She was preceded in death by three children, Danny Buttrum, Sharon Rampley and Carolyn Thomasson.

Betty Logan
Mrs. Betty Margaret Logan, age 78 of Cumming, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2010.
Survivors include her son, Charles Allen Logan, Jasper; daughter, Michele Logan, Tennessee; and sisters, Virginia Berryman, Cartersville, Juanita Millwood, White, and Lorine Hart and Jewell Wilkie, both of Cumming. Four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Mr. Thurmon Padgett, age 78 of Jasper, passed away Thursday, Jan. 7, 2010 at his residence in Jasper.
Survivors include his wife, Gwenell Padgett, Jasper; sons and daughter-in-law, Randy Padgett, Carrollton, Ga., and Chris and Bonnie Padgett, Jasper; brothers, Charles Padgett, Jasper, and Truman Padgett, Dalton; and grandchildren, Kyle, Abbie and Hayden Padgett.

Joe Barnes
Mr. Joe W. Barnes, age 66 of the Hill City Community, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2010 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital.
Survivors include his mother, Grace Barnes, Hill City; and sisters, Kathleen Payne, Waleska, and Lorene Coker and Geraldine Brooks, both of Jasper. Nieces and nephews also survive.

Karen Buchanan
Ms. Karen Buchanan, age 45 of Jasper, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2010 at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta.
Survivors include her fathers, Kenneth Buchanan and Frank Mullinax; son, Jacob Bryant, Jasper; daughter, Kodi Oberly, Jasper, brother, Barry Butler, Jasper; and sisters, Jerrie Butler, Marble Hill, Robin Ramey, Cindy Little, Tammy Robertson and Susan Padgett, all of Jasper. Several nieces, nephews and many others who called her mom survive.

Martha Henderson
Martha Saye Henderson of Jacksonville, Fl. passed away at St. Catherine Laboure Manor early Friday morning, Jan. 8. 2010.
Martha was born Sept. 17, 1920 in Harrisburg, Pa. She was the daughter of the late Dr. Ernest Boling Saye and Elizabeth Darnell Saye. Mrs. Henderson is the granddaughter of two pioneer families of North Georgia, the late Dr. John Sherman Darnell, Sr. and Martha Cagle Darnell and Dr. J.P. and Angie Boling Saye. She was the niece of the late J.S. Darnell, Jr. Her surviving first cousins are Rebecca Darnell Forrester, Hettie Darnell Young, John S. Darnell III, Benjamin F. Johnson III and Sherman D. Johnson.
Martha graduated from Limestone College in Gaffney, S.C. She married
Hugh Milling Henderson, Jr. on June 26, 1945 in Spartanburg, S.C. The South Carolina couple spent their married
years in Syracuse, N.Y. Her husband, Hugh, was a chemical engineer with Allied Chemical Corporation. Sadly, he passed on May 21, 1955. After Hugh’s death, Martha and her daughter Betsy moved to Thomasville, Ga. where her father, Dr. Saye, was a practicing pathologist at Archibald Memorial Hospital.
Martha became a very active member in the Thomasville Community. She was a Sunday School teacher at the First Baptist Church, a Girl Scout leader with The Flint River Council and an active member of the Junior Service League.
In the ’70s and ’80s Martha was a resident advisor to the Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority at Auburn University in Auburn, Al. She was a passionate football fan proudly supporting the Auburn War Eagles. In addition to her love of sports, she was an avid bridge player and a talented cook.
Upon her retirement in 1989, she moved to Jacksonville, Fl. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She became a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Ortega.
For the last seven years, Martha resided at St. Catherine Laboure Manor. Her family is profoundly grateful for the excellent care that she received from all the staff of 1-South.
Martha is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Betsy and Ralph Wilson, Jr., Jacksonville; and grandsons, Ralph Braithwaite Wilson III and his wife Christy, Atlanta, and Brett Boling Wilson, Jacksonville, and his fiancee Ashley Ortagus, Tallahassee.
A graveside service was held at the family cemetery in Talking Rock on Wednesday, Jan. 13 at 11:30 a.m. with the Rev. Von Hinton officiating.
