Margaret
Gallagher
Margaret Elizabeth Reeves Gallagher was born on Dec. 4, 1918 in Sycamore, Ga. She died peacefully in her sleep on Feb. 2, 2010. She is now with Jesus Christ to whom she gave her life more than 50 years ago.
She was predeceased 11 months ago by her husband Richard “Mickey”. She was lost without him. In addition to the relatives listed, she is survived by her brother, Don Peterson.
Margaret grew up in Atlanta, Ga. where she met her first husband, Robert “Bob” Clarke, and had her two sons, Bob and Bruce. Both served during the Vietnam War and came safely home to marry the loves of their lives, Pam and Sally, leaving Margaret with a rich legacy of four grandchildren, Susan, Kathy, Bobby and Jimmy, and five great-grandchildren, Jordan, Ryan, Erin, Morgan and Cameron.
She later married
Mickey in the early 1950s and remained his wife until the day he died. Both were active in the church in Rochelle Park, N.J. and then in Jasper, Ga. where they made their permanent home for most of their adult lives. Margaret was a trained bookkeeper and dedicated social worker serving in nursing homes and caring for the elderly. She had a heart for the lost and abandoned and gave her time and love to the elderly with selfless compassion. She and Mickey were founding members of The Chapel Assemblies of God in Jasper which started in their living room. They taught countless Sunday School classes, led youth groups, helped prisoners and gave their whole hearts to the church.
After Bruce’s death in 1974, she dedicated much of her life to his children, Susan Clark Staley and Kathy Clark Silverglate, caring for them every summer during their school years (always with the encouragement and love of their mother, Sally).
Margaret moved to Charlotte seven years ago to be closer to her oldest granddaughter, Susan who, along with her husband Kevin, helped care of her and Mickey in the sunset of their lives.
Her legacy will live on in her relatives but also in all who know Jesus Christ because she was not afraid to share Him.
