Claire Christine Spires
Services for Claire Christine Spires of Macon were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6 in the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home in Macon with interment in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens in Macon.
Spires, 76, died Friday, Jan. 2, 2004. She was the widow of David Lee Spires and was preceded in death by her daughter, Nancy Sue Evridge.
She was a native of Telfair County and was retired from the Medical Center of Central Georgia.
Survivors include her sisters, Nellie F. Roquemore of Ivey and Betty J. Vance of Phenix City, Ala. and granddaughter, Charoone Evridge of Byron.
Crest Lawn Funeral Home of Macon was in charge of arrangements.
Elizabeth Tobias
Services for Elizabeth Tobias of Eastman were held at 1 p.m Saturday, Jan. 3 at Wesley Chapel Baptist Church of Jacksonville with interment in the church cemetery.
The Rev. Rufus T. Freeman officiated.
Tobias, 95, died Monday, Dec. 29, 2003. She was the daughter of the late Bob and Allie Williams and was the widow of Perry J. Tobias. She was a native of Telfair County.
Survivors include many nieces, nephews and friends.
A.L. Spaulding Funeral Home of McRae was in charge of arrangements.
James Edward Williams
Services for James Edward Williams of McRae were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20 in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with interment in Oakgrove Cemetery.
The Rev. Bill Jones officiated.
Williams, 70, died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003. He was the was the son of the late John Henry and Mary Edith Roberson Williams and was married to Nell Williams. He was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Edward Williams.
In addition to his wife, survivors include his daughters, Elaine Williams of Tucson, Ariz., June Menard of Orange, Texas and JoAnn Williams of St. Paul, Minn.; and three grandchildren.
Vaughn Funeral Home of McRae was in charge of arrangements.
Gladys Jones Bass
Services for Gladys Jones Bass of Milledgeville were held at 4 p.m. Saturday, April 10 at Red Hill Holiness Church with interment in the church cemetery.
The Rev. Jim Bohanon and the Rev. Alvin Lewis officiated.
Bass, 83, died Thursday, April 8, 2004. She was the daughter of the late Levi and Cloudia Alligood Jones and was the widow of Dan Elex Bass.
She was a native of Dodge County, was a member of Red Hill Holiness Church and was a retired dietician.
Survivors include her children, Cecil Bass of Milledgeville, Durvis Bass and Willis J. Bass, both of Dry Branch, Elizabeth Davis and Linda Gail Joyner, both of Lake Sinclair; brother, Oscar Jones of Eastman; sisters, Sybil Whit of Ruthledge, Lois Fowler of Savannah, Jeannette Baltzgelar of Columbia, S.C.; eight grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren.
Lowe’s Funeral Home of Helena was in charge of arrangements.
Joe Brown Cannon Jr.
Memorial services for Joe Brown Cannon Jr. of McRae were held Friday, April 9 in the chapel of Lowe’s Funeral Home.
The Rev. Steve Frazier officiated.
Cannon, 61, died Thursday, April 8, 2004. He was the son of the late Joe B. and Mary Elizabeth Black Vaughn Cannon Sr.
He was a native of Dodge County but had resided in Telfair County for many years. He was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church.
Survivors include his son, Michael Cannon of Brockton, Mass.; daughter, Mary Cannon of Brockton, Mass.; brothers, Edward Cannon of Douglas, Harlon Cannon of Perry; sister, Lee Jennings of Vidalia and three grandchildren.
Lowe’s Funeral Home of Helena was in charge of arrangements.
Pearl Ray Paul
Services for Pearl Ray Paul of Warner Robins were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 7 in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home with interment at Magnolia Park Cemetery.
The Rev. Rastus Salter officiated.
Paul, 84, died Monday, April 5, 2004. She was the daughter of the late Mattie Lou Ray and W.T. Ray and was the widow of Charlie C. Paul.
She was a native of Lumber City but had been residing in Warner Robins. She was self employed.
Survivors include her daughter, JoAnn P. Goodwin of Goose Creek, S.C.; sister, Lois Buttrom of Lumber City; brother, Frank Ray of Kathleen; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Etta Mae Garrison Reynolds
Services for Etta Mae Garrison Reynolds were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 13 at Blockhouse Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery.
The Rev. John David Harrell officiated.
Reynolds, 94, died Sunday, April 11, 2004. She was the daughter of the late Lee and Lollie Wall Garrison and was the widow of Robert Clark Reynolds.
A native and lifelong resident of Telfair County, she was an inspector with Roydon Wear for 10 years and was a long time member of Blockhouse Baptist Church.
Survivors include her son, Robert C. Reynolds of Sanford, Fla.; daughter, Judy R. Keys of Blue Ridge; brothers, Leon Garrison of Orlando, Fla. and Homer Garrison of Macon; sister, Marie Twardus of Orlando, Fla.; one grandson and four great-grandchildren.

Emma Lou Robinson
Services for Emma Lou Robinson of Alamo were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 13 in the Alamo United Methodist Church with interment in the Alamo City Cemetery.
The Rev. Nick Hazelton officiated.
Robinson, 76, died Sunday, April 11, 2004. She was married to Hugh Harold Robinson of Alamo.
She was a native of Monroe County Miss. and was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her husband, survivors include her son, Jim Wooten of Vidalia and granddaughter, Jenny Wooten of Vidalia

Johnny Michael Sammons
Services for Johnny Michael Sammons of Alamo were held at 4 p.m. Sunday, April 11 at Springhill Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery.
The Rev. Ben Waller and the Rev. Randall Tarply officiated.
Sammons, 52, died Friday, April 9, 2004. He was the son of the late John and Jessie Brown Sammons and was married to Anita Sammons.
A native of Telfair County, he was a member of Springhill Baptist Church and was a retired truck driver.
In addition to his wife, survivors include his daughter, Jessica Gresham; sisters, Lynett Price, Jan Hart and Patty Little, all of Alamo.
