Warren Alexander
Warren M. Alexander, age 74 of Talking Rock, Ga. (formerly of Fitzgerald), died Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Jasper following a brief illness.
Mr. Alexander was born Feb. 25, 1936 in Berrien County to the late William Arthur and Lillian Whitley Alexander. He was a 1954 graduate of Irwin County High School. He received his Associate’s degree from Thomas University in Thomasville, his Bachelor’s degree from Georgia Southern and his Education Specialist degree from the University of Georgia. He also did studies at Valdosta State.
His first teaching assignment was at Hahira High School where he taught science and biology. He was also a football, track and girls basketball coach. He taught and coached in Treutlen County High School and Hawkinsville before becoming a principal and later superintendent in Hawkinsville. He merged the Hawkinsville City Schools with Pulaski County Schools. He served as superintendent in Dooly County before coming to Fitzgerald in 1985. He was named Citizen of the Year by the Fitzgerald-Ben Hill Chamber of Commerce in 1991 for his efforts to merge the city and county school systems when he was willing to step down as city school superintendent.
He moved to Talking Rock in 1998 from Fitzgerald. He was a member of Northside Primitive Baptist Church in Marietta. He was a former member of the Kiwanis Club of Hawkinsville, the Rotary Club of Fitzgerald and president of the Fitzgerald/ Ben Hill County Chamber of Commerce in 1992.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Louise DeVane Alexander, Talking Rock; sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Cathy Alexander, Woodstock, and Dale and Kimberly Alexander, Canton; grandchildren, Hunter, Hannah, Sophie, Grant and Davis Alexander; brothers and sister-in-law: Billy and Sandra Alexander and Bobby and Jimmy Alexander, all of Fitzgerald; sisters and brother-in-law, Peggy A. Player, Terri Alexander and Connie and Randy Smith, all of Fitzgerald. Several nieces and nephews and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held at noon Saturday, April 10 from Northside Primitive Baptist Church in Marietta with Elder Jason Solomon and Elder Pat McCoy officiating. Another service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 11 from Brushy Creek Primitive Baptist Church in Ocilla with Elder Edward McIntyre and Elder Jimmy Chapman officiating. iIntermentfollowed in the church cemetery. Sandra Harris
Mrs. Sandra Jean Harris, age 68 of Ball Ground, passed away Thursday, April 8, 2010 at her residence.
Mrs. Harris was a member of Four Mile Baptist Church and a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Harris; granddaughter, Megan Harris; and parents, Laverne and Harriet Reed.
Survivors include her children, Ricky (Bobbie) Harris, Tate, Peggy (Max) Cantrell, Rev. Michael (Lisa) Harris and Tracy (Rev. Charles) Buchanan, all of Ball Ground, Shirley (Chris) Denson, Canton, and Terry (Tosha) Harris, Jasper. Nineteen grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren also survive.

Johnnie Ruth Glenn
Mrs. Johnnie Ruth Glenn age 87 of Jasper, passed early Monday morning, March 29, 2010 at Northside Hospital-Cherokee in Canton.
Survivors include her son, Scott Glenn; and sister, Ruby Davis. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A memorial service will be held at Jasper United Methodist Church on Friday, April 16 at 10 a.m. with the Revs. Hoyt Jenkins and Al Larson officiating.
Dorothy Wilson
Mrs. Dorothy F. Wilson, age 89 of Jasper, passed away Friday, April 9, 2010 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital.
Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Wilson. A special thanks to Sue Pittman and Edna Goble for their loving care and friendship. Also a special thanks to Jasper United Methodist Church for their support and friendship.
With no visitation at Cagle Funeral Home, Mrs.Wilson was transported to W.C. Brady’s Sons, Inc. Funeral Home in Coxsackie, N.Y. to be interred with her husband at Riverside cemetery in Coxsackie.
A memorial service was held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 12 at Jasper United Methodist Church with the Rev. Al Larson officiating.
Flip Wilson
Mr. J.C. “Flip” Wilson age 72 of Ball Ground, Ga. passed Friday, April 9, 2010 at the Peachtree Christian Hospice.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Kelley Wilson, Canton,; daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Danny Norton, Jasper, and Brenda and Ricky Kelley, Ball Ground; and sister, Mary Lois Blalock, Ball Ground. Six grandchildren and two great- grandchildren also survive. King Brown
Mr. King Daniel Brown, age 70 of Gordon County, passed away Thursday, April 8, 2010 at his residence.
He was born in Murray County on March 28, 1940, the son of the late Sam and Flora Key Brown. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Sam Brown. Mr. Brown had retired from Mohawk Industries and was a veteran, having served his country in the US Navy.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Oma G. Brown; sons, Julian Brown, Adairsville, and Robert Brown and wife Chu, Snellville; brothers, Bill Brown, Gladewater, Tx., Hoyt Brown and wife Virginia, Chatsworth, Frank Brown and wife O’Dale, Calhoun, Leonard Brown and wife Sheila, Dalton, Jim Brown and wife Ellen, Scottsboro, Al., and Fred Brown, Calhoun; sisters, Sarah Burnley and husband Roger and Dorothy Walraven and husband Otto, all of Calhoun; and grandchildren, Joshua King Brown and Robin Lenore Brown. Nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

Cleo Richardson
Mrs. Cleo S. Richardson, age 88, passed away Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at her residence.
Mrs. Richardson was a member of Hickory Flat United Methodist Church. She was a nurse’s aide at R.T. Jones Hospital for 35 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Garnett Richardson; and son-in-law Martin Fox. Survivors include her children Martha (J.C.) Wright, Holly Springs, Mary Fox, Parma, Oh., Jonnie (Ronnie) Mitchell and Garnett “Sonny” (Pam) Richardson, all of Ball Ground, Emma (Larry) Ingle, Jasper, Sarah (Randy) Owen, Winston, and Wesley (Carolyn) Richardson, McCaysville; and sister, Margaret Fricks, Woodstock. Seventeen grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Margie Holladay
Margie C. Holladay, age 72 of Jasper, Ga., died April 12, 2010 after a 25-month battle with brain cancer. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, William Francis Holladay.
Margie was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She graduated in 1954 from Simpsonville High School, Simpsonville, S.C. where she excelled in academics, played basketball and was Homecoming Queen her senior year. She attended Anderson College, and while there, she met her future husband Francis, a Clemson cadet. She worked as an administrative assistant for several companies in Charlotte, N.C. and Atlanta, Ga. before retiring with her husband to Jasper.
She was a devout born-again Christian and an active member of Foothills Community Church in Marble Hill, and active in the Bent Tree Ladies Bible Study. She served the community volunteering at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital and as an election pollster.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Joan Holladay, Dunwoody, Ga.; and daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and David Rutland, Cumming, Ga.; grandchildren, Sarah, Kristen and John Holladay and Austin and Will Rutland; and brother, Furman (Ann) Campbell, Simpsonville, S.C. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held at Foothills Community Church on Saturday, April 17 at 11 a.m. with interment at Arlington Memorial Park in Atlanta. Pallbearers were: David Campbell, Neal Fondren, John and Scott Holladay and Austin and Will Rutledge. Honorary pallbearers were the Explorers Sunday School Class. Peggy Lawson
Peggy W. Lawson, age 74 of Lawrenceville, Ga., formerly of Nelson, passed away Thursday, April 15, 2010 at Embracing Hospice in Snellville, Ga.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Frankie and Morgan Lawson, Cartersville; daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Jackie Jordan, Ball Ground, Deborah Williams, Lawrenceville, and Donna and Danny Edwards, Nelson. Seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Lawson.

William Hayes
Mr. William C. “Dub” Hayes, age 82 of Tate, Ga., passed away at Wildwood Healthcare.
He was a member of Sharp Mountain Baptist Church and a Mason at Ball Ground Masonic Lodge. He retired from Lockheed Aircraft Corp. in 1989. He also was a veteran of WW II.
Survivors include his wife, Glenda Hayes, Tate; sons and daughters-in-law, Joe and Cheryl Hayes, Morganton, Ken and Louise Hayes, Jasper, Mike Hayes, Alamo, Ga., and Bryan and Anita Hayes, Tate; and sisters, Myrtle Collins, Blue Ridge, and Opal Boling, Tate. Nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren also survive.

Ronald Jones
Mr. Ronald Jones age 42 of Jasper, passed away on Friday, April 16, 2010.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Jones, Waleska; children, Felicia Jones, Canton, and William Jones, Waleska; grandson, Hayden Jones, Canton; mother, Betty Jones, Jasper; brothers, Ricky Jones, Fairmount, and Bobby Jones, Jasper; and sisters, Diane Stout and Robin Jones, both of Jasper. Several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Carol Gallagher
Mrs. Carol Fasick Gallagher, age 86 of Jasper, Ga., died Friday, April 16, 2010, at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Jasper following a period of declining health.
Born Feb. 14, 1924 in Scranton, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Clyde and Nellie Bachman Fasick. She had been employed as the director of nursing at Philadelphia Methodist Hospital in Philadelphia, Pa. Mrs. Gallagher was a co-member of the Jasper United Methodist Church in Jasper and the Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Mifflintown, Pa.
Survivors include her sons and daughter-in-law, Patrick and Lea Gallagher, Jasper, and John Gallagher, Turnersville, N.J.; granddaughters, Patricia Gallagher, Jasper, Hayley Gallagher, Athens, Ga., and Liz Delaney, Turnersville, N.J.; grandson, Shaun Gallagher, Turnersville, N.J.
At her request, Mrs. Gallagher was cremated and a memorial service will be announced at the later date and time. Roper Funeral Home of Jasper in charge of the arrangements.
Linda Gibson
Mrs. Linda Gibson, age 56 of Marble Hill, passed away Friday, April 16, 2010 at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta.
Survivors include her mother, Lillie Bell Shoemaker, Yellow Creek Community; sons and daughters-in-law, Tony and Angel Gibson, Ball Ground, and Terry and Julia Gibson, Marble Hill; daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and William Bell, Marble Hill; brother, J.W. Shoemaker, Canton; sisters, Carolyn Beck, Marble Hill, and Martha Pearson, Acworth; and grandchildren, Lane and Owen Gibson, Summer and Kyler Bell and Jake and Jordan Gibson. Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Gibson; father, Willard Shoemaker; and sisters, Inez Wofford, Claudine Blackwell and Betty Ann Gibson.

Lou Chastain
Mr. Jimmy (Lou) Chastain, age 53 of Jasper, Ga., passed Tuesday morning, April 20, 2010 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital.
Survivors include his wife, Tracey Chastain, Jasper; and daughter, Mallory Chastain, Jasper.
Mr. Chastain was a retired employee of the Georgia Department of Transportation where he was the district engineer covering Pickens, Cherokee, Gilmer and Fannin counties.
