Ruby Milton
Ruby Bunch Milton of Marietta, Ga. passed away on March 2, 2010 in Tampa, Fl. following a lengthy illness.
Ruby was born in Blaine, Ga. and retired after 34 years with Lockheed Martin in Marietta. She will be fondly remembered as a kind, gracious and loving mother and wife.
Mrs. Milton is survived by her son, Jerry Milton, Sr.; daughter-in-law, Maribel Milton; one sister, Marcille Gartrell; and grandchildren, Kathy Dunn and her husband Steve, and Jerry Milton, Jr.
Ruby was preceded in death by her first and second husbands, Goss Milton and Robert Bagwell.

Lawrence DeSalvo
Mr. Lawrence Wayne DeSalvo, age 56 of Jasper, passed at his residence Tuesday evening, March 16, 2010.
Survivors include his wife, Robin DeSalvo, Jasper; parents Arnold and Margaret Griffith, Jasper; sons, Charles and Aaron Matthews, Jasper; daughters, Tina Michelle Cavett, Jasper, Al., and Holly Marie Jackson, Acworth. Several brothers and sisters, 11 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, several great-nieces and nephews and an extended church family also survive.
A memorial service was held Saturday, March 20 at the family residence on South Main Street in Jasper with the Revs. Steve Taylor and John Hollingshead officiating. Cagle Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Ora Stancil
Mrs. Ora Jeannette Stancil, age 76 of Fairmount, Ga., passed at Gordon Hospital in Calhoun early Wednesday morning, March 17, 2010.
Mrs. Stancil was a member of Connesena Baptist Church and was the widow of the late William (Bill) Stancil.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Dennis Stancil and Zhaungyun Haugh, Dothan, Al.; daughters and sons-in-law, Gail and Justin Romine, Kingston, Ga., Becki and Rusty Bearfield, Fairmount, and Zina and Ben Hood, Glen, Ga.; brother, James McKaughan, Houston. Fifteen grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren also survive.
The funeral service was held Saturday, March 20 at 11 a.m. from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Word
Mr. William Allen “Bill” Word, age 65 of Jasper, Ga., died Monday, March 22, 2010, at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital in Jasper following a sudden illness.
Born June 13, 1944 in Lula, Ms., he was the son of the late William Thomas Claude Word and Mattie Louise Gayden Word. Mr. Word was a welder for Ingram Truck Body and was a member of the Ludville Church of Jesus Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Madiline Word, Jasper; daughters and sons-in-law, Charlotte and James Ingram and Pamela Ledbetter, Jasper, Sheila and Jack Woodworth, Florida, Brenda Porter, North Carolina, Debbie and Steve Bennett, Florida and Leslie and Chris Carver, Talking Rock, Ga.; sons and daughters-in-law, William “Bill” and Marlene Word, Jasper, Ga., Larry and Lisa Word, Florida, and Kenneth Word, Woodstock, Ga.; grandchildren, Tabitha Porter, Dalton and Logan Word, Nevaeh, Kyle and Gracie Carver, Zachery and Zoie Word, John and Nathan Thacker, Zack Porter, Harold and Steven Bennett, Kellie and Jason Ledbetter sisters, Madeline Dickey, Florida, Joan Lewis, Arizona, and Peggy Repult, Mississippi; and brothers, Larry Word, Tate, Ga. and Jerry Word, Oklahoma. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service is scheduled for 3 p.m. Thursday, March 25 from Roper Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Ernest Hughes and Annette Cross officiating. iIntermentwill follow in Cherokee Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home all day on Wednesday and until the funeral hour on Thursday.
Jerry Holt
Mr. Jerry Nathaniel Holt, age 59 of Fairmount, Ga., departed this life Monday, March 22, 2010 at Gordon Hospital in Calhoun.
Jerry was born July 25, 1950 in Perry, Ga. He was preceded in death by his father, Victor Nathaniel Holt; brother, Paul Raymond Holt; and father-in-law, William Mulkey. Jerry was a very hard worker and was employed at Hale Ceilings and Walls, Inc. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War in the US Army.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Beverly Holt, Fairmount; sons and daughters-in-law, Heath and April Holt and Eric and Rhiannon Holt, all of Fairmount; daughters and sons-in-law, Brooke and Rodney Huskins, Fairmount, and Beth and Andrew Swancy, Calhoun, Ga.; grandchildren, Dylan and Dawson Huskins, Madeline “Maddie” Swancy and one on the way, Sindal Jerryn Huskins; mother, Beatice Hale Holt, Fairmount; brothers, William J. “Bill”, Charles and Tim Holt, all of Fairmount, and David Holt, Calhoun; sisters, Martha Childers, Fairmount, and Rose Mary Burns, Chatsworth; mother-in-law, Marcell Mulkey, Fairmount; and cousin and very special friend, Billy Hale, Acworth. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
The service to celebrate his life was held Thursday morning, March 25 at 11 a.m. from Salacoa Baptist Church in Cherokee County with the Rev. Gary Henson officiating. Music and singing was by Sally Jones. Pallbearers were: Jackie and David Hancock, Anthony Moss, Larry Green, Gary Crittenden and Sixtoe Gutieerrez. Fairmount Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
William Corder
Mr. William F. Corder, age 70 of Jasper, Ga., passed Tuesday morning, March 23, 2010 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital.
Survivors include his wife, Sheryl Corder, Jasper; son, Darrell Frank Corder, Monroe; daughter, Camille Corder, Cumming, Ga.; and sister, Rita Brown, Austin, Tx.
Mr. Corder was cremated and the family is planning a private memorial service. Cagle Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
M.C. Bunch
Mr. M.C. Bunch, age 80 of Jonesboro, Ga., formerly of Jasper, passed away Thursday, March 27, 2010, at the Jonesboro Nursing Home in Jonesboro following a period of declining health.
Born Sept. 21, 1929 in Pickens County, Ga., he was the son of the late Mack and Ada Bunch. Mr. Bunch had worked as a refrigeration technician with Atlanta Plumbers and was a member of the Hinton United Methodist Church.
Survivors include sisters and brother-in-law, Suelene and Vance Abbott, Cary, N.C., and Mozelle Cavin, Jasper. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Loretta Blanton
Mrs. Loretta Ann Blanton, age 48 of Jasper, Ga., passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2010 at her residence.
Mrs. Blanton was a member of Nelson Baptist Church and a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Billy Blanton; children, Jessica Gates, New Jersey, and Dwight Blanton, Jasper; mother, Faye Greene, Marble Hill; sisters, Nina Tucker, Jasper, Jo Greene, Marble Hill, and Jean Martin, Waleska; and brother, Danny Greene, Marble Hill.

Ethel Qualls
Mrs. Ethel Qualls, age 99 of Jasper, passed away Thursday. March 25, 2010 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Becky Denney and David Keller, Big Canoe, and Yvonne and Newell O’Neal, Jasper; and grandchildren, Ashley Cordell, Chris Denney and Amberly Biles. Five great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 27 from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Revs. Joey DuBois and Robert Allen officiating. iIntermentfollowed in Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery. Charles Stanley
Charles Richard Stanley, age 76 of Bent Tree, Jasper, Ga., passed Thursday evening, March 25, 2010 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Charles was the seventh of eight children born to the late Clyde and Ethel Stanley of East Atlanta and Conyers, Ga.
Charles worked in the banking profession all of his adult life, starting at age 18 with the C&S; National Bank of Atlanta in operations. In 1966 he was elected cashier of C&S; Bank of Rockdale, Conyers, Ga., and later was promoted to vice president from 1979 until retirement. He worked at the First National Bank of Dalton, now Wachovia Bank, where he was branch manager and vice president. Due to ill health, he took early retirement and moved to Bent Tree, Jasper.
Charles was an avid golfer and was a member of the Georgia Senior Golfers Association and served as director from 2002-04. He and his wife Jacque attended over 50 tournaments in the US and Europe. He was also a member of Bent Tree Country Club and the North West Senior Golfers Association. He was vice president, secretary-treasurer and director of the Lions Club of Dalton, and director, secretary and treasurer of the Northwest Chapter International Association of Accountants.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Jacqueline Humpheries Stanley, Bent Tree; daughters and son-in-law, Cynthia and Brad Boblenz and Melissa Stanley; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Lisa Stanley; step-children, Laura Payne Jacques and husband Bobby and Joseph H. Payne, Jr. and Mary; brother, Joseph Stanley; and sisters, Joyce Huey and Jeanette Coley. Eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and special niece, Claudia Garet also survive.
The funeral service was held Sunday, March 28 from Tate United Methodist Church at 2 p.m. The Rev. Rob Bruce and Chaplain David LeGrand, chaplain of Georgia Mountain Hospice, officiated. The family graveside service was held at Union United Methodist Church cemetery in Stockbridge, Ga. at 5 p.m. Sunday with the Rev. Dr. Jody Alderman officiating. Pallbearers were: Steve Stanley, Wayne and Larry Bennett, Stanley and Carl Knight and Woody and Tommy Alderman. Honorary pallbearers were: Max Stancil, Joe Fore, Tom Carlson Malan Blanchard, Therman Slone and Frank Morris. The Piedmont Mountainside Pink Ladies Auxiliary also served in an honorary capacity. Wilma Duval
Wilma Ripley Duval, age 92 of Social Circle, died March 29, 2010.
She was born in Anderson County, S.C. on August 17, 1917 to the late Thomas and Nettie Thompson Ripley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Stanton Duval.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Alan and Janet Duval, Social Circle; daughter, Mary Peterson, Jasper; and grandchildren, Lea and Brad Klingenbeck, Decatur, Amanda Duval, Social Circle, and Kristi Lummus, Jasper.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 31 from 6-8 at Meadows Funeral Home in Monroe. A graveside service will be held Thursday, April 1 at 3 p.m. at Social Circle City cemetery with the Rev. Glenn Wofford
Mr. Glenn Wofford, age 71 of the Ophir Community, passed away March 30, 2010 at his home.
Survivors include his wife, Winnell Allen Wofford, Ophir Community; daughters and sons-in-law, Andrea W. Arnold, Chatsworth, Gail and Jimmy Fitts, Nelson, Tammy and Tim Stancil, Jasper, and Sandy and Terry Adams, Dawsonville; sons and daughter-in-law, Michael and Sue Johnson and Ricky Johnson, all of Ball Ground; brothers and sisters-in-law, Lester and Betty Wofford, retired Sheriff Billy Wofford and wife Donna and Paul and Jeanette Wofford, all of Jasper; sisters and brother-in-law, Vertie and Randall Moody, Clayton Community, and Lorene Watkins, Jasper. Seventeen grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Rev. Gene Cornelison
The Rev. Gene W. Cornelison, age 75 of Ball Ground, died on Tuesday March 30, 2010 at Northside Hospital-Cherokee. He retired from Amicalola Electric Membership Corporation after 28 years. He was chairman of Round-Up AEMC, chairman of the Board of North Georgia Community Action, Board of Directors and president of Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce, board member of Upper Etowah River Alliance, chairman of the Board of Limestone Valley, Board of Directors of Cherokee County Water and Sewerage Corporation, Cherokee High School Vocational Electrical Teacher, Clayton Community Fire Department Volunteer and was present pastor of Pilgrim Baptist Church (Clayton Community).
He was preceded in death by his parents, E.H. and Lela Murphy Cornelison; brothers, Levi and Calvin Cornelison; and sister, Diane Cornelison.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Tippens Cornelison, Ball Ground; sons and daughters-in-law, Darrek and Carla Cornelison and Dony and Renee Cornelison, all of Ball Ground; daughters, Denise Owens, Acworth, and Debra McClure, Ball Ground; sister and brother-in-law, Brenda and Bobby Mullinax, Canton; and sister-in-law, Kathryn Cornelison, Ball Ground, Ten grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held Friday, April 2 at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of South Canton Funeral Home with the Revs. Billy Cantrell, Jerry Clayton and J.R. Smith officiating. Freeman Padgett, Jr.
Mr. Freeman Padgett, Jr., age 76 of Jasper, passed away Saturday, April 3, 2010 at his home following a lengthy illness.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Freeman, Sr. and Ella Champion Padgett; brothers, Herman, Herbert, Garland, Houston, Preston, Henry, Floyd, Harold and Eston; sisters, Edith Padgett and Rosalee Johnston Howell.
Survivors include his wife, Reba G. Padgett, Jasper; son, Avery F. Padgett, Ranger; daughter, Karen West and David Godfrey, Talking Rock; grandson, Daniel West, Canton; granddaughter, Chesli Padgett, Concord, Ga.; sister, Ina Scheer, Newnan, Ga.; sister-in-law, Lori Padgett, Talking Rock; and extra special friends, Marilyn nd Wade Forrester, Tate. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
