Roper Funeral Home of Jasper announces the death of Mr. Tony Pack, age 49 of Jasper, who passed away July 9, 2010 at his home.
He is survived by a special friend, Wanda Childers, Jasper; children, Brandon Pack, Fairmount, Mark Pack, Jasper, Chris Pack and Loren Pack, both of Fairmount, Damanda Colburn, Jasper, Malanda Gibson, Fairmount, Phillip, Andy, Miranda and Manuel Childers, all of Jasper; brothers, Scott and Daniel Pack, both of Jasper; and sister, Sheila Woods, Canton. Five grandchildren also survive.

Willie Mae Poole
Mrs. Willie Mae Poole, age 93, of Jasper, Ga., died Thursday, July 1, 2010, at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital.
Born Jan. 13, 1917 in Pickens County, she was preceded in death by her husband, S.A. Poole; and her son, Larry Poole. Mrs. Poole was a member of the Yellow Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include her sons, Loy G., Gary and Ronnie Poole, all of Jasper; and daughter, Betty Parker, Jasper. Nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 4 from Yellow Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. Gene Hyde, William Blackwell and Ray Mauldin officiating. iIntermentfollowed in the church cemetery. Roper Funeral Home of Jasper in charge of the arrangements.
Robert Morrison
Robert Lee Morrison, age 71 of Kennesaw, died Saturday, June 26, 2010.
Lee was born in Talking Rock, Ga. on Oct. 3, 1938. He graduated from Pickens County High School class of 1956 and was an alumnus of North Georgia College, class of 1960. He worked for Great American Financial Corporation for 27 years. Upon retiring in 1988, he moved back to Georgia where he lived in Kennesaw and built new custom homes.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Peppers Morrison, Kennesaw; son, James Claude Morrison and his wife, Amy, Blackhawk, Co.; daughters, Lyn Little, Winder, Michelle Morrison Frazier and husband, William C. Frazier, Jr., Kennesaw; son, Michael Derek Morrison, Kennesaw; brother and sister-in-law, John and Sandra Morrison, Jasper; nine grandchildren, Aubrey, Kaylea and Christine Morrison, Tyler Little, Javier Ruiz, Hayden Henley, Kylee Nicole Frazier, Owen Wilson Frazier and Wyatt Alexander Frazier.
Lee was a faithful and much loved member of New Salem Baptist Church, and in his memory the family has requested in lieu of flowers that donations be made to New Salem Baptist Church, 836 New Salem Road, Kennesaw, Ga 30152-4799.
The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 29 from New Salem Baptist Church. Burial was in the family cemetery in Talking Rock, Ga. Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home & Crematory in Marietta was in charge of arrangements.
Carl Waddell, Jr.
Mr. Carl Waddell, Jr., age 81 of Louisville, Ky., passed away surrounded by his family on Sunday, July 4, 2010 at the VA Medical Center.
Mr. Waddell was a native of Elizabethtown, Ky., a U.S. Navy veteran of WW II, a member of Valley Station Baptist Church and Plumb Masonic Lodge. He had retired from DuPont in 1985 with the design division and was also co-owner of Waddell/Pippin Heating & Air.
He loved fishing with his grandchildren and winters in Florida with his wife. Mr. Waddell was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Beth Waddell; parents, Carl Sr. and Nellie Waddell; and sisters, Jean, June and Ramona.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Nola Jean (Herron) Waddell; daughters, Terry Dunn (Jack) and Lisa Fulton (Dennis); granddaughter, Amanda Abbott (Jason); grandsons, Dereck and Brent Dunn and Aaron Sullivan; and great-granddaughter, Kaila Poole. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family would like to thank the staff at the VA Medical Center for their care and compassion.
The funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Thursday from Owen Funeral Home with the burial in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Memorial gifts can be made to American Cancer Society, American Heart Association and the American Diabetes Association.
Terry Buttrum
Mr. Terry Hoss Buttrum, age 51 of Jasper, passed away Thursday, July 8, 2010 at his residence.
Survivors include his daughters and son-in-law, Kim Buttrum and Katie and Michael Mulkey, all of Jasper; brother, Jerry Buttrum, Jasper; sisters and brothers-in-law, Deborah and Charles Ledbetter, Ball Ground, and Donna and Greg Bryant, Jasper; and grandson, Dalton Mulkey. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 10 from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Revs. J.T. Childers and Ed Hamrick officiating. iIntermentfollowed in Bethesda Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Michael and Kevin Ledford, Jason Ledbetter, Wes Wilson, Bruce Beck and Donnie Reynolds. James Behrbaum
Mr. James Behrbaum, age 72 of Ball Ground, passed early Monday, July 5, 2010 at Embracing Hospice in Cumming.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Behrbaum, Ball Ground; son, Jeff Behrbaum, Virginia; daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Mathew Lemaster, Austell; step-children, Wendy and Lori Behrbaum and Amy and Chris Metildi, all of California; brothers, Ray Behrbaum, California, and Bob Behrbaum, Washington; sister, Patricia Behrbaum; grandchildren, Landon and Lauren Lemaster, Emily Haynes and Michael and Mathew Metildi; and great-granddaughter, Emma Haynes.
The family will have a private memorial service at a later date. Cagle Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Daryl Rogers
Mr. Daryl Ray Rogers, age 48 of Jasper, Ga., passed away June 30, 2010 at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital.
Survivors include his wife, Ava Rogers, Jasper; parents, Gene and Jeannie Rogers, Jasper; grandmother, Ethyl Hicks, Jasper; mother and father-in-law, Ed and Pauline Stephens, Jasper; sons, Cody and Eddie Rogers, both of Jasper; daughter and son-in-law, Maria and Dustin Benson Jasper; children at heart, Miles Phillips and Hanna Coxe; brother and sister-in-law, Curtis and Helen Rogers, Elk City, Ok.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Tammy and Jerry Silveria, Talking Rock, and Linda and Fred Davis, Prague, Ok.; brother-in-law and wife, Paul and Carrie Stephens; and grandchildren, Cliff and Katie Rogers and Dere Benson. A host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, special niece, Kasey Silvers, and special friends, AJ and Rosemary Padgett also survive. He was preceded in death by his son, Cliff Rogers.

George Hollingshead
Rev. George Hollingshead, age 75 of Jasper, passed away Friday, July 2, 2010 at his residence.
Survivors include his wife, Murial M. Hollingshead, Jasper; brothers, Herman, Sr. and Johnny Hollingshead, both of Jasper; and grandchildren, John and Paul Kerney. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Geneva Hollingshead; first wife, Betty Lou Hollingshead; brother, Edward Hollingshead; and step-daughter, Marilyn Kerney.
The funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Monday, July 5 from Bethel Tabernacle with the Revs. Robert Jarvis, Larry Phillips and Johnny Hollingshead officiating. iIntermentfollowed at Sunrise Memorial Gardens with local Chapter 47 DAV in charge of the military graveside service. Marilyn Andrews
Marilyn Melville Andrews, 79 of Jasper, Ga., went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 12, 2010.
She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister. As a longtime resident of the Bent Tree Community and an active member of the New Lebanon Presbyterian Church, Marilyn graced all she met with a warm and loving spirit. She was born in Oak Park, Il. and was a graduate of Northwestern University.
She is survived by the love of her life, her husband of 56 years, Bruce; daughters, Susan (Cal Peterson), Atlanta, Beth (OJ Bergeron), Knoxville, Tn.; and grandchildren, Drew (Jessica) Thompson, Leigh (Jake) Koffler of Atlanta and O’Neill Bergeron of Knoxville, Tn., as well as her sister, Ann Bradley of Charlotte, N.C. also survive her.
A memorial service will be held at the New Lebanon Presbyterian Church Saturday, July 17. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the New Lebanon Presbyterian Church at 389 Bent Tree Drive, Jasper, Ga. 30143.
Wayne Poole
Wayne Alan Poole, Sr., age 46 of Talking Rock, passed away Monday, July 12, 2010.
Survivors include his wife, Tram Poole, Talking Rock; children, Christie (Ricky) Carters and Wayne Alan, Jr. (Brittany) Poole, all of Talking Rock; mother, Hazel Lail, Stockbridge; sister, Patricia Parsons, Rome, brothers, Henry L. Poole, Jr., Waleska, Jimmy and Tony Poole, both of Stockbridge, and Jerry Poole, McDonough; and grandchildren, Juleeanna Carter, Landon Poole and Leeland Carter.
The funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. Thursday, July 15 from Sosebee Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Herring and Mr. Jerry Poole officiating. iIntermentwill follow in Macedonia Memorial Park. The family will receive Wednesday from 11 a.m. until 9:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Shelby Bryson
Mrs. Shelby Jones Bryson, age 73 of Ball Ground, passed away Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital.
Survivors include her daughters, Angela Bryson and Connie (Gregory) Mullinax, all of Ball Ground; siblings, Barbara (Arvid) Edwards and George M. (Mildred) Jones, all of Ball Ground, and Raymond (Louise) Jones, Jasper; great-uncle, Leon Clark, Ball Ground; and grandchildren, Matthew, Ethan and Allison Mullinax, all of Ball Ground.
Mrs. Bryson was cremated. Sosebee Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Georgia Payne
Mrs. Georgia Kate Taylor Payne, age 90 of Jasper, Ga., died Tuesday, June 22, 2010, at Northside Hospital-Cherokee in Canton, Ga. following a period of declining health.
She was born Nov. 27, 1919 in Greene County, Ga. to the late Georgia Belle Spinks Taylor and William Virgil Taylor. She grew up on their farm on South Cobb Drive in Cobb County. She graduated from Fitz Hugh Lee High School and her first job was with Farmer’s Home and Loan and Security in Cedartown where she met her husband, Robert Inman Payne. They moved to Pickens County in 1947. Later she received her teaching degree from North Georgia College. Kate taught in the Pickens County School System for 25 years. She loved teaching and was devoted to her students. After retirement she continued to be an advocate of lifelong learning.
Mrs. Payne was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jasper and the Fidelis Sunday School Class. She was an active member of Happy Ramblers, Retired Teachers, AARP and Friends of the Library. Kate was an avid reader and also loved to travel. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, R.I. Payne; sister, Virginia Hull; and brother, Henry Taylor.
Survivors include her daughters and son-in-law, Sandra Payne, Decatur, Ga., and Ann and Douglas Sharp, Conyers, Ga.; granddaughter and her husband, Susan Sharp Gawron and Cliff Gawron, St. Simons, Ga.; and brother and sister-in-law, William and Jeanette Taylor, Powder Springs, Ga. Nieces and cousins also survive.
The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 26 from Roper Funeral Home Chapel in Jasper with Dr. Charlie Boggan and the Rev. Von J. Betty Jordan
Mrs. Betty Lee Jordan, age 71 of Ball Ground, Ga., died Friday, June 25, 2010, at her residence following a period of declining health.
Born Feb. 18, 1939 in Cherokee County, Ga., she was preceded in death by her father, James Bradley Brackett. Mrs. Jordan had worked in the Toy Department at the Wal-Mart in Canton and was a member of the Sharp Mountain Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband of 53 years, John “Shorty” Jordan, Ball Ground; daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Dwight Kelley, Ball Ground; son, Dwain Jordan, Ball Ground; mother, Mrs. Zona Lee Haynes, Ball Ground; sisters, Sue Malone, Ball Ground; and Donna Fine, McDonough, Ga.; brothers, Eddie Brackett, Glen and Roy Haynes, all of Ball Ground; grandchildren, Brett Kelley (Emily), Issac Kelley and Katie Jordan; great-grandchildren, Tucker, Wyatt and McKenna Kelley. Mrs. Ruth Martin, age 84 of Jasper, passed Thursday morning, June 24, 2010 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital.
Survivors include her sons, Charles Martin, Belleville, Mi., David Martin, Bellview, Fl., and Ricky Martin, Jasper; and sisters, Louella Williams, Villa Rica, Ga., and Dorothy Keown, S.C. Nine grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held Monday, June 28 at 10 a.m. from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Rev. Von Hinton officiating. iIntermentfollowed Monday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. with a graveside service at Crestlawn Memorial Park in Atlanta.
Fred Tobias
Mr. Fred Tobias, age 85 of Bent Tree, passed away at his residence Monday, June 28, 2010.
Mr. Tobias is survived by his sons, Larry Tobias, Florida, and Ed Tobias, California; daughter, Donna Tobias, Bent Tree; and grandchildren, Sara and Samantha Tobias.
An entombment service is scheduled for Thursday, July 1 at 1 p.m. at Sunrise Memorial Gardens Chapel Mausoleum with local Chapter #47 DAV in charge of crypt-side services. The eulogy will be given by Donna Tobias. Cagle Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
