Anthony Plumley
Mr. Anthony James Plumley, age 36 of Jasper, Ga., died Monday, Dec. 7. 2010.
Born June 21, 1974 in Cherokee County, Anthony worked as an engineer with the Georgia NE Railroad.
Survivors include his wife, Alison Plumley, Jasper; children, Austin and Abby Plumley, both of Jasper; parents, Donnie and Sue Plumley, Jasper; brother and sister-in-law, Chris and Suzanne Plumley, Jasper; and niece and nephew, Adrienne and Maddox Plumley, both of Jasper. A host of aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 10 from Long Swamp Baptist Church with the Revs. Robert Allen, Harold Cantrell, Jimmy Chester, Danny Townsend and David Jones officiating. iIntermentfollowed in the church cemetery. Roper Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
Margie Chastain
Mrs. Margie Gertrude Chastain, age 84 of the Hinton Community, passed Monday, Nov. 29, 2010 at her residence.
Survivors include her sons, Clifford, Olin and Ben Chastain, all of Hinton; step-sons, Sherman, Jackie, James, Johnny, Roger, David and Danny Chastain, all of the Ludville Community; step-daughters, Joyce Bunch, Judy Long, Dorothy Hightower and Doris Crouse; and sister, Emily Brookshire, Nicklesville. Several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren also survive. Mrs. Chastain was preceded in death by her children, Nancy Lacy, Arthur and Della Mae Chastain.
The funeral service was held Thursday, Dec. 2 from the Chapel of Cagle Funeral Home with the Rev. James Garrison, Sr.
James C. Garrison, Sr. passed away on Thursday, Dec. 9, 2010 in Jasper, Ga.
Jim was born James Charles Bobst on Jan. 3, 1918 in Miami, Fl. to Julia Monroe Bobst and Merwin Stanley Bobst. He was preceded in death by his sister, Martha Bobst Magaha (Chesty); and brother, Monroe Stanley “Buddy” Bobst (Libby), both of Fort Myers, Fl. His mother married
Francis Garland “Gary” Garrison in 1926. Being the youngest child, Jim’s name was changed to James C. Garrison.
After the family moved to Fort Myers, Jim attended Fort Myers High where he met Lucille Taylor. They were married
in the First United Methodist Church on Christmas day in 1937. Jim enlisted in the Army Air Corps and received his discharge from active duty in September 1945. He remained in the Air Force Reserve for many years, earning the rank of Captain prior to final discharge. He enjoyed flying and especially with his brother Buddy, who operated Gulf Airways in Fort Myers.
Upon leaving the service, Jim worked with his stepfather Gary Garrison who was manager of the Bradford Coffee Shop in Fort Myers. In 1947 he began working at Sears & Roebuck as a furniture salesman and eventually manager of the furniture department until January 1979. Jim’s wife Lucille passed away on August 8, 1983. Together they had created a wonderful family where individuals where respected and encouraged to be all that they could.
The second chapter of Jim’s life began on Feb. 18, 1984 when he married
Audrey Clark. It was because of his love for golf that Jim and Audrey first met on the course at “The Fort” where Audrey also worked part time in the Pro Shop. Their similar interests drew them together, and on Feb. 18, 1984, they were married
at the old Fort Myers Country Club. They sold their house in Edison Park in 1991 and lived in several areas, chosen mainly because of local golfing. Their final move was to Canton, Ga. to be near his daughter Linda.
Jim was living in an assisted living home in Jasper under the care of Hospice when he peacefully passed from this life. Throughout his life, Jim was known to be a kind, considerate gentleman who loved his children and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Besides Audrey, Jim is survived by his son, James C. Garrison, Jr., (Susan), Fort Myers; grandsons, Adam L. Garrison, Atlanta, Ga., and Brian M. Garrison, Dallas, Tx.; daughter, Linda G. McIver (Bruce), Talking Rock, Ga.; and granddaughters, Jennifer D. McIver, Smyrna, Ga., and Stacy M. Stein (Rob), Acworth, Ga.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 15 from Roper Funeral Home Chapel. iIntermentof ashes will be beside his first wife Lucille in Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home and Cemetery. Marion Richards
Ms. Mario Jones Richards, age 64 of Stockbridge, Ga., passed away Thursday Dec. 9, 2010 at Henry Medical Center.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, James and Shelly Dean, Hampton, Ga.; daughter and son-in-law, Sandi and Kris Bonner, Reidsville, N.C.; brother, Terry Jones, and his daughter, Josephine, New Zealand; sisters and brother-in-law, Sandy Vaccaro, Jackson, Ga., and Debbie and Don Moseley, Stockbridge; and grandchildren, Jimmy Lee, Madison, Kati, Lauren, Payton and Baylee. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Opal Low
Mrs. Opal Virginia Low, age 84 of Ball Ground, Ga., died Thursday, Dec. 9, 2010 at Northside Hospital-Cherokee in Canton, Ga., following a period of declining health.
Born July 11, 1926 in Lanette, Al., she was the daughter of the late Charles W. and Leila Waites Traylor. Mrs. Low was a homemaker and a member of Jasper First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Gary Pardue, Lawrenceville, Ga., and Marilyn and Jim Willcox, Kennesaw, Ga.; grandchildren, Monica and Tony Marra, High Point, N.C., James “Skip” and Cynthia Willcox, Sandersville, Ga., Kelley and Jason Lee, Sugar Hill, Ga., Shea Buckley, Athens, Ga., and Will Buckley, Lawrenceville, Ga.; great-grandchildren, Tony Marra, High Point, Carter Lee, Sugar Hill, and James Willcox IV, Sandersville; and mother-in-law, Lois Low, Jasper, Ga.

Bonnie Hyde
Mrs. Bonnie Priest Hyde, age 90 of Talking Rock, passed away Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Marie Hyde, Jasper, Johnnie Sue and Stan Sheeley, Colorado, and Joyce and Kent Davenport, Jasper. Six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Eunice Caylor
Mrs. Eunice Caylor, age 94 of Canton, formerly of Jasper, passed away on Dec. 13, 2010 at Northside Hospital-Cherokee.
She is survived by her children, Ernestine C. Holcomb, Ball Ground, Lamar and Judy Caylor, Smyrna, Christine and James Neal and Joan and Nile Juhan, all of Canton; sons-in-law, R.D. Wilson, Jasper, and Steve Jackson, Dawsonville; and brother-in-law, Loy Caylor, Jasper. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Caylor; daughters, Edith Wilson and Denise Jackson; and son-in-law, Coy Holcomb.

Samuel Thompson
Samuel Tucker Thompson, age 69 of Jasper, passed away Dec. 9, 2010 after a courageous two year battle with cancer. Sam was born in Atlanta on Nov. 4, 1941 to the late James Sheffield and Daisy Tucker Thompson. He grew up in Ben Hill, graduated from Southwest High School, proudly served in the Army in the early 1960s and was a 1969 graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology with a degree in Industrial Engineering.
Sam had executive positions in various companies located throughout the nation until he finally purchased his own company in 2000, Blue Ridge Mountain Woodcrafts, located in Ellijay, Ga. It flourished under his ownership and management with his wife.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Ann Chandler Thompson, Jasper; children, Lisa Wearing and husband Paul, Sandy Springs, Ga., Cyndee Goeman and husband Kelly, Canton, Ga., and Samuel Thompson and wife Sara, Jasper; grandchildren, Peyton, Parker and Piper Goeman, Emma and Mary Anna Wearing and Heidi and Samuel Thompson; sisters, Bernie Coker and Chloe Stany; and brothers, Bob and Jim Thompson. Cousins and nieces and countless friends also survive.
In the eyes of his family, he was the best and smartest husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle or friend there ever was. He was deeply loved by all of his family and he loved them all deeply in return. His passing will leave a huge hole in the lives of all that knew him.
A Celebration of Life service was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 14 at the Birmingham United Methodist Church in Alpharetta, Ga. Entombment of the cremains followed at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Georgia National cemetery in Canton with Military Honors. Robert E. Thomas, age 47 of Atlanta, passed away on Thursday May 15, 2008.

Betty Anne Knickerbocker
Lived with early onset Alzheimer's for the past 19 years, and passed away Tuesday, Dec 8, 2009 in Cumming, Georgia, near her daughter, Christine. Foremost, Betty was a devoted wife and mother. She married
her true love Frank Knickerbocker III in 1959. She was born in September 1940 in Dallas, Texas, the oldest child of Virginia and Jack Ballard. A graduate of Sulphur Springs High School, she rose from ticket agent to Dallas city manager for Continental Airlines, then created her own convention and meeting services corporation, and was recognized as small business person of the year for 1989 by the North Dallas Chamber of Commerce.
She is survived by her children Frank Knickerbocker IV (his spouse Nancy, children Bailey and Tyler) and Christine Welsko (her spouse Don, children Elizabeth and Rachael - married
to Brett Turner); her mother Virginia, brother David, and sister Carol with many nephews and nieces and their families. Betty was devoted to her best friend of 45 years Mavis Wright, and will miss their times together. She is preceded in death by her father Jack Ballard and her husband Frank.
Services were held in Dallas, TX. Thomas Wesley Ashworth, Sr.
Thomas Wesley Ashworth Sr., age 68, of John's Creek, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, December 02, 2009 at Laurel Creek Manor surrounded by family and friends. Tommy was a natural born salesman who spent his time with family and friends and enjoyed traveling to places including Walt Disney World, Cherokee,NC and Tunica,Mississippi.
Tommy is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Tracy Ashworth; his daughter and son-in-law, Dawn and Johnny Barron and his daughter and son-in-law, Caryn and Scott Nevins. He is also survived by his grandchildren Akemi Cumings, Michael Barron, Ashleigh Nevins, Chelsea Ashworth, Emily Barron, Mark Ashworth and Joseph Barron.

Ballew, Robert (Bob) Lewis, age 75, passed away on Thursday, December 17, 2009 at Emory University Hospital Midtown. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Dorothy Elizabeth Mosteller and Julius Bert Ballew; sisters, Doris Elizabeth Elrod and Evelyn Thomas and his brother, Henry Herbert (Bud) Ballew, all of the Atlanta area.
He is survived by his wife, Dimitriula (Dee) Yatrou; sons, Robbi and Kenneth Bradford; brother and sister-in-law, Williiam E. and Mary Ballew of Maryville, TN,; sister and brother-in-law, Laura Jean and Payton Petty of Atlanta and Helen (Cookie) Rose Biggerstaff of Fayetteville, GA.

Jill Agnes Harding
Jill Agnes Harding, age 88 of Cumming passed away Thursday, November 26, 2009. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, December 4th at Good Shepherd Catholic Church with Father Frank Richardson officiating. Mrs. Harding was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Harding in 1993; daughter, Carol Sipes in 2007 and her granddaughter, Brynda Sipes Drain in 1993. Survivors include her brother, Louis & Judy Smith of Ann Arbor, Michigan, two granddaughters, Leigha Sipes and Tara Sipes Cole both of Cumming, Three great-grandchildren, Nicholas Westbrook, Guy Martin and Reid Cole. Mrs. Harding was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church and was an active member of the hospital auxillary where she was awarded volunteer of the year. She was active with The Red Hat Ladies and the Senior Center where she went on many trips with the group. She loved to travel, play canasta, studying history and the theater. Her devotion to her family and others whose life she touched will leave a huge void to all her knew her.

Nancy Bell Smith age 85 of Dahlonega formerly of Forsyth County passed away Thursday October 15, 2009. A native of Forsyth County and past member of Zion Hill Baptist Church her funeral service was Saturday at 2:30 at Zion Hill Baptist Church with the interment at the church cemetery. She was preceded in death by her husband James Herbert Smith and two sons Herbert and Lonnie Smith. Survivors Include: Sons Wilburn Smith of Cumming, Melvin Smith of Cleveland, GA, Tommy Smith of Dawsonville, Daughters Martha Tolbert and Dot Riddle both of Dahlonega, Brother James Land of Cumming. 27 Grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
