Viola Mae Cable age 70 of Cumming passed away November 15th, 2009. A Memorial service will be held at Byars Funeral Home on Wednesday November 18th at 6 PM. The family will visit with friends from 5 pm until service time.

Julia Rose Fasano-Carfizzi

Julia Rose Fasano-Carfizzi, born May 10th 1923, a resident of Cumming, Georgia died peacefully on the morning of February 4th 2009 from cancer. Julia (or Julie as she liked to be called) was given the last rites and was surrounded by her family on the afternoon before she passed on. We have lost a precious and wonderful mother, grandmother, and friend. May she rest in peace with her family and our God.

Mary Jane Carmany

Mary Jane Carmany age 87 of Dallas, Georgia passed away Monday May 5th, 2008. She was a member of McEachern United Methodist Church and was a loving grandmother and great-grandmother , her family meant so much to her and she will be deeply missed. Mrs. Carmany was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years James Newton Carmany, and a brother Joseph Williams, Jr.

Survivors Include: son Jim, Jr. and Dee Carmany of Barberton, Ohio; Son Wayne and Vivian Carmany of Marshallville, Ohio; daughter Lynda and Frank Young of Canal Fulton, Ohio; daughter Joyce and Larry Armstrong of Powder Springs, Georgia; daughter Cheryl and Gary Marr of Marietta, Georgia; daughter Brenda Kay Carmany of Dallas, Georgia; sister Janet Murdick of Canton, Ohio. Twelve grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survived.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 9, 2008 in Canal Fulton, Ohio.

Irene Ashworth Chandler

Irene (Terry) Ashworth Chandler 83, passed away on Thursday, March 13, 2008 at the home of her daughter in Sandy Springs, Georgia.

Mrs. Chandler was born on August 21, 1924, in West Hartford, Conn.. She was the daughter of James Whitelaw Kelly and Mary Jane Cardno Kelly. She attended The University of Richmond. She was a life long resident of Greenville and Traveler's Rest. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church.

Mrs. Chandler was predeceased by her first husband, David William Ashworth of twenty-five years and her second husband, Dr. Walter Alvin Chandler, Jr. of twenty-five years, a brother James Whitelaw Kelly, Jr. and a son Cardno Campbell Ashworth.

She is survived by daughters, Corbin Ashworth Pressly of Sandy Springs, Ga., Courtney Ashworth Allen of Canton, Ga., Claudia Ashworth Hamer of Charlotte, N.C., sons David Mark Ashworth of Greenville and Christopher Kelly Ashworth of Traveler's Rest. Grandchildren, Allison Pressly Blaylock of Oak Harbor, Wash., Patrick Stewart Pressly of Kennesaw, Ga., Courtney Walsh Hamer of Charlotte, N.C., Marine Sgt. Edward Ryan Hamer III of Middletown, R.I., Julia Grace Ashworth of Greenville and David Michael Ashworth of Traveler's Rest.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 17, 2008, at 11:00 AM in the Markley Chapel at Christ Church, with interment immediately following the services in the Christ Church Cemetery. The Rev. Ted Duvall officiating.

The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be given to The Greenville Humane Society.

Daniel Lee Cole

Daniel Lee Cole, age 55 of Atlanta passed away Saturday, November 29, 2008 at the VA Hospital in Decatur, Georgia.

Robby Lynn Cowart

Mr. Robby Lynn Cowart, age 36 of Murrayville/Cumming, Georgia passed away Wednesday, November 05, 2008. Robby was preceded in death by his father Edwin Cowart in 1993 and mother Geraline Hardy in 2005.

Robby was a Fifteen-year veteran of the Forsyth County Fire Department, starting as a volunteer. He was a loving husband and father to his wife and girls and always took great pride in all their accomplishments. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and his many brothers at the Forsyth County Fire Department.

Survivors include his wife, Melody Cowart of Murrayville, Two daughters, Kirsten and Katelyn Cowart of Murrayville; brother & sister-in-law, Steven and Bobbie Sue Cowart of Cumming, sister & brother-in-law, Christie and David Drake of Cumming; nephews, Cameron Cowart and Robby Cowart; grandniece, Jada Cowart.

Funeral Services will be held Sunday, November 9, 2008 at 3 p.m. from First Christian Church on 1270 Sawnee Dr Cumming, GA 30040 with the remains placed in state at 2 p.m. with the interment following at Sawnee View Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Byars Funeral Home on Friday, November 7, 2008 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturday, November 8, 2008 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to: Melody Cowart in memory of Robby Cowart at any Wachovia Bank.

Louis K. Davis, age 89, of Atlanta, passed away Monday, June 16th, 2008 at North Fulton Hospital in Roswell, Georgia.

Robert Douglas Johnson

Johnson, Robert Douglas, 50 of Stockbridge, GA passed away after a battle with cancer on December 17, 2009. He is survived by his wife, Wanda (Bunny), 3 step children, Father Robert Tiffany Johnson, 3 sisters and 1 brother. He was predeceased by his mother Barbara Ann Weever. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday December 19, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at Jonesboro Rd Baptist Church in McDonough, Georgia. The family will be at the church at 1:00 on Saturday. Doug will be missed greatly by his family and friends. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Wanda to help her cover the medical expenses incurred during Doug’s illness. Mary Conyers Bennett Drew

Mary Drew passed away on January 13, 2009 at the grand age of 96. A graduate of Tift College, she served our country in WWII as First Lieutenant in the Marine Corps, then served our community as a teacher in the Atlanta area for 30 years. During that time, she earned two graduate degrees from Georgia State University. A long time member and pianist for the Druid Hills Baptist Church, she was one of the first women to be honored as a deacon. She directed the Life Enrichment program in Dekalb County and was an honorary member of the Decatur Lions Club. Mary would consider her greatest achievement to be raising her son, John, who survives her, along with her grandsons, Ben and Jeff, her “daughter-in-love”, Cay, her niece, Billie Bennett Ward, and nephews, Joe Bennett and Jim Bennett. She is greeted in heaven by her brothers, Conyers, Joe and Bill Bennett, and her niece, Kathleen Bennett.

A memorial service will be held at Druid Hills Baptist Church at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 17 2009. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Druid Hills Baptist Church or the Decatur Lions Club.

Clyde Weldon Eberhardt, Sr.

Clyde Weldon Eberhardt, Sr., of Roswell, Georgia, died Sunday, August 9, 2009, 19 days before his 9lst birthday. Mr. Eberhardt was preceded in death by his first wife Eileen (Sue) Eberhardt and second wife Kathryn (Kitty) Eberhardt, daughter Connie Eberhardt Royal and grandson Tony Eberhardt. He is survived by his five children and their spouses: Clyde Eberhardt, Jr., (Shirley); Mary Ann Eberhardt Sikes (Dell); Thomas J. Eberhardt (Jeanie Lou); Steve Eberhardt (Dana); and Jean Eberhardt. Additionally, there are nine grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, his sister Mary Beth Kelly (Wade), one niece and two nephews. Special thanks to Jeanie Lou and Tommy Eberhardt for their constant care for the last two years.

Mr. Eberhardt was born in Carlton, Georgia, August 28, 1918. He served in the Navy in WW II. After his 13 years in the Navy, he worked for Armour Meat Company, going to John Marshall Law School in the evenings. He practiced law in Atlanta for the remainder of his career. He was a Mason and a Shriner.

Mr. Eberhardt served on the Board of Stewards of Bethany Methodist Church for many years. As Scout Master at Bethany for over 10 years, his scouts marveled at his knot tying, camping and fishing talents. He spent many weekends at property in Douglas County that he purchased to take scouts on memorable camping trips.

At his first home in northwest Atlanta, he was famous for his roses. Neighbors, teachers and friends were frequent recipients of his rose bouquets. Later, he became an expert fruit and vegetable gardener. His plums, blueberries, figs and tomatoes were prized gifts to all his associates. At age 90 he still planted his tomatoes.

Beloved by his family, Papa Clyde, as he was affectionately known, enjoyed family get-togethers better than anything. “The more, the merrier” was his philosophy, and friends of family members were welcome to cookouts and gatherings.

Biblical proverbs, the scout oath, and Aesop Fables were the core of his daily life and his family teachings. He was fair, empathetic, and gentlemanly in dealing with family, friends and clients. Another member of the greatest generation will be sorely missed.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Roswell United Methodist Church (RUMC) or Boy Scout Troop 431 at RUMC, 814 Mimosa Blvd., Roswell, GA 30075. A private family graveside service will be held at Crestlawn Memorial Park at 11:00 am today.

Mary Pauline “Polly” England

Mary Pauline “Polly” England, age 81 of Cumming, Georgia passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2009. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Rudy Anglin and Randall Anglin and sisters, Laura Mae Anderson, Mildred “Millie” Bolton and Imogene Ariail.

Survivors include her daughter, Judy England of Suwanee, GA.; sisters, Sybil Anglin and Irene James Hall of Cumming, GA. Three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren also survived.

Crypt-side services will be held at Friday, May 22, 2009 at 1 p.m. at Sawanee View Gardens. The family will receive friends at Byars Funeral Home from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 21, 2009.

Ruth Ann Epps, age 53 of Alpharetta, Georgia passed away Thursday, October 1, 2009.

Jessie Lucille Ernst, age 87 of Athens, Georgia passed away Monday, February 9, 2009 at Athens Regional Hospital.

The Funeral will take place in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Edna Smallwood

Mrs. Edna Smallwood, age 66 of Arcade, Georgia passed away at her residence on Saturday, September 13th, 2008. She was preceded in death by her husband Jessie W. Smallwood and son Howard Smallwood.

Survivors include 2 sons, Johnny & Frank Smallwood both of Jefferson, Ga.; 3 daughters, Sandy Smallwood and Lynn Bryant both of Jefferson and Martha Meak of Banks County, Ga.; brothers, William and Jimmy Butler both of Madison County, Ga.; sisters Jean Untied of West Virginia, Loretta Tualla of Athens, Elaine Couch of Winder, Tootsie Clay of Thomaston, Stella Bachelor of Monticello. 17 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren also survived.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Sunday, September 14th at First Pentecostal Oneness Church with the body to lie in state from 2 p.m. until service time. iIntermentwill be in the church cemetery.
